S/O Harry Potter Poll *SERIES SPOILERS*

I'm listening to Prisoner of Azkaban on Audio and I just the JK Rowling & Dumbledore post so I thought, why not a poll especially since we have so many newbies?

Who's your favorite of the main characters?

Who's your favorite "secondary" character?

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series?

Who turned you on to Harry Potter?

Why do you love Harry Potter?

Re: S/O Harry Potter Poll *SERIES SPOILERS*

  • Answering my own poll!

Who's your favorite of the main characters? Dumbledore by far.  I want to have endless conversations with him.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Lupin

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? My favorite is probably when Harry apologizes to Lupin that he will not be able to see his little boy grow up.  It makes me cry every time.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? One of my BFFs made the agreement that if she read HG that I would read Potter.  I wish it hadn't taken me so long.

Why do you love Harry Potter? It completely whisks me away into another world that I find so immersive.  I love the depth of all the characters and watching them grow and learn.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters?  Harry

Who's your favorite "secondary" character?  Luna, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Lupin, McGonagall, etc.  All of them.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series?  The forest in Deathly Hallows.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter?  I'd been hearing about it through various friends.

Why do you love Harry Potter?  I'm pretty sure I can't put it into words.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? Ahhh I can't pick! Ron, maybe.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Snape or Fred and George

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? No question, The Prince's Tale.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? I guess it becoming a movie put it on my radar, but no one suggested it to me.

Why do you love Harry Potter? I can't even answer this right. The magic. The different aspects of love. The friendships. The battle between good and evil. It's epic. It lets you lose yourself.

  • These questions are just way too hard to answer.  I can only answer the last two which are:

    4.  My mom

    5.  BECAUSE IT'S HARRY!  There's no other way to explain it.  It's so hard!

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? there's too many!  I guess I'd have to say Neville

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? I always go back to when Harry first finds out he's a wizard and that he's going to Hogwarts, I get teary every time I reread that part.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter?  my bff  worked at the library and she brought Sorcerer's Stone home for me around the time CoS came out because she thought I would like it. (I don't think she had even read it, she just knew me so well lol)

    Love this poll!

Who's your favorite of the main characters? Hermione. She's smart, cute turns gorgeous, brave, and stands up for her friends.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Draco. He started out as such a snobby little shit and then by the end saves Harry.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? All of them. Okay fine I'll pick. The Prince's Tale. The scene in the forbidden forest with the resurrection stone. I also liked the scene where Harry first flies on Buckbeak. And his first meeting with Draco.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? I liked the first two movies, but when I saw the third I was like omg, what happens next, and I started reading the fourth book. Then I borrowed book five from my cousin. Then went back and reread books one through five. Then painfully waited for the last two.

So technically myself, though my dad took me and my sisters to see movie three. But I wouldn't have had book four if my mom hadn't bought it for me like six months before that.

Why do you love Harry Potter? All the feels. And all the reasons. It's adventure, humor, sadness, love, friendship, battles, family, remembering loved ones who have died, and completely and totally entertaining.

    I love this poll!

Who's your favorite of the main characters? There are so many main characters. Are we talking the trio? If so, Ron. And Harry. And Hermione. hahahahah

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Snape. I LOVE how complex he is. And The Prince's Tale (Nuff said). And then Dumbledore.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? The Forbidden Forest scene in book 7. Good God, I have never cried so hard. When Harry goes to Diagon Alley for the first time. When Fred and George left Hogwarts. When Harry discovered how to use the Marauder's Map. The first time we go into Dumbledore's office. And I can't keep thinking because my brain will explode

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? I read HP by accident. My brother had the first three books in his room and I was bored and decided to read them.

Why do you love Harry Potter? Because it's everything.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? Dumbledore

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Snape

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? I like the scene in Deathly Hallows when Harry asks Dumbledore "Is this real or is it all in my head?" And he answers "Of course it's in your head Harry, but why on earth would that mean it isn't real?" Or something to that effect.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter?  My friend and co-worker

Why do you love Harry Potter? Because I can completely immerse myself in that world.  There are so many reasons.

     "Live like there's no midnight."

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? Harry and Ron

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Sirius, McGonagall and Dobby

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? When Harry, Ron and Hermione are searching for the horcruxes...Hermione and Harry's dancing scene in the tent...then Ron gets jealous and leaves...then he comes back.  The movie depicted it almost exactly as I pictured it in my head and I just love that entire sequence.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? My brother.  He read the first one and said I should read it.  It's totally not my style of book and I struggled to get through the first one but when I did, I was hooked.

Why do you love Harry Potter? Because it takes me away to another world.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters?  SO hard to pick one, but I love Hermione.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Sirius, Fred & George, Luna, McGonagall

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series?  I loved a lot of Harry's firsts...his first trip to Diagon Alley, his first Hogwarts feast, first time on a broom, first time seeing wizard photos/pictures...I loved that we got to learn about the wizarding world right along with him.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? It was a joint effort between my older brother, and my best friend in college, and I'm glad they did

Why do you love Harry Potter? The world is so real feeling, JK Rowling created this whole seperate universe where anything and everything is possible. She didn't just make a children's book, she created a legacy that can allow you to escape, and when you come back, life just isn't the same as it was before.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? Ron

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Fred and George, I basically love all of the Weasleys

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? The graveyard scene from GoF. When Harry is hiding behind the headstone, and then makes the decision to die fighting, and he steps out from behind it...gives me chills every time. He is so unbelievably brave in that moment, and it was the first time I really realized that about him.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? My mom sent me the first book in a care package when I was in college. I remember questioning her because it was a "kid's book", but she said she had heard that people my age liked it too. Of course I got hooked right away, and she sent the rest (well, through the 4th book, since that's all that was out at the time) in monthly care packages.

Why do you love Harry Potter? I remember being hooked from the very first page, and it was because it was a world I wanted to live in. I want to hang out with all of the characters, and be a witch, and have adventures. And I can do all of that every time I read the books.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? Ron. I like his humility.  Harry and Hermione both get a little too self-righteous at times.  Obviously I'm most invested in Harry, but as a person, I like Ron better.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character?  Molly Weasley.  She's awesome in so many ways.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series?  The introduction of the Room of Requirement.  I want the Room of Requirement to be real!  More than anything else in the entire series.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter?  My sister's wife. She had a "young at heart" Harry Potter themed birthday party in 2000, and I figured I needed to read a few of the books to know what was going on.

Why do you love Harry Potter? The world-building is amazing.  Imaginative and well-developed alternate worlds is one of my biggest literary soft spots.
    image
  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? Hermione

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Mrs. Weasley

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? When Harry, Ron, & Hermione go back to Hogwarts in book 7 and the DA is ready to go, welcoming them back and McGonagall is all like do what you need to do and we've got your back and then the rest of the Order shows up.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? Everyone

Why do you love Harry Potter? I can't say this better than anyone else. Because everything.

Wow this is a hard one!

Who's your favorite of the main characters? Harry

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Sirius, Lupin and Luna in that order

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? AHHH! I liked Harry's first Christmas with Sirius. Sirius was just such a great godfather. Also Harry's first time flying a broom... the very end where Harry is sending his son off to Hogwarts... Harry throwing snowballs at Draco and Crabe and Goyle while under the invisibility cloak. I better stop there, I could list a bunch.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? My parents bought me the books. They wanted me to work on my speech impediment by reading aloud to my mom.

Why do you love Harry Potter? Because its an epic fantasy story that I grew up with. I love the story, plot, originality and all the aspects of HP. HP was the first book series I really got into and loved. It got me reading more then any other book or series and helped me get over my fear of reading aloud/helped me with my speech impediment and with my word dyslexia (saying sentences in the wrong order). So basically I love HP because its amazing.

    ~E~
  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? I think Hermione

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Sirius or Hagrid... or Snape. Or Dumbledore.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? My god this is impossible.. if I have to pick ONE I would say the whole Forbidden Forest scene at the end, including King's Cross part.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? My BFF. One more reason I love her.

Why do you love Harry Potter? Ok, I will try to put this into words - because JK Rowling was able to create a series that built a whole new world of magic and an incredible story arc, which in itself is amazing. BUT she also made it so incredibly personal and emotional and truly about friendship and bravery and hope, and to combine those two things so seamlessly through characters that you love like family is SO rare.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters?  I really love Hermione.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character?  Luna or Ginny.  It's a tie.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series?   When Harry turns the Resurrection Stone and sees his parents, Sirius, and Lupin.  It's just so beautifully written.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter?  My former boss.  I was a youth pastor at a church and my boss, the priest, told me how much he loved them and that he'd recommend I read them because a lot of the teens really liked them.  That was the week before HBP came out.  I've never looked back.

Why do you love Harry Potter?  How can you not?  The world.  The magic.  The love.  The friendship.  The characters.  Every.Single.Thing.  It's just fantastic.  I cannot wait to share it with my children.

  • Who's your favorite of the main characters? hmmm... Hagrid. Hermione. Not sure.

Who's your favorite "secondary" character? Remus Lupin. He's a tragic hero.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? These are impossible questions...  The tasks for the Goblet of Fire, especially the maze.

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? I wasn't too interested in the first movie, but an ex-boyfriend told me it was good. So I watched it, and then I had to read the book. My sister, who was only about 13, said she'd like to read the books too, and since she didn't read very much, I made a deal with her that if she read them then I'd buy them for her. At the time, only Goblet of Fire was released, but I kept the bet all the way through Deathly Hallows. After she finished each book, she let me borrow it. And that is how I came to love Harry Potter.

Why do you love Harry Potter? The rich character development. The woven fabric of plot and fantasy world. I love tangled webs of plots, and I love when a tiny detail in one book shows up in a later book. I love the wonderful balance of humor and tragedy and perseverance and friendship.

What's your favorite scene (or scenes since I know it's difficult to pick one) from the series? Dumbeldore's Army meetings

Who turned you on to Harry Potter? my friend bought me the first book, which is odd because she never reads fiction herself.

Why do you love Harry Potter? This is an entire world that has been created.  JK really had such a vision for how the whole thing was going to play out. Every little thing that is introduced early on has some connection to later events in the series.  There are new things to discover each time you re-read the series.  The HEART that went into creating this book captures the HEARTof the reader forever - well, that's the real magic.

  • This poll makes me want to reread the series.

Why do you love Harry Potter? It takes me somewhere new and magical.  The descriptions and characters are so in depth.  I live in a fantasy world where a little part of me still dreams that I'm going to get an owl saying "Oops, sorry that we forgot about you!  Our mistake!"  It's just amazing.
