Re: Book to movie

  • I loved both the BBC and Keira Knightley versions of Pride & Prejudice. They each increase my love for the book. I also love the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility.

I don't think Pride & Prejudice works well at a feature film length, the mini series was definitely the way to go.  Plus, there's no beating Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

Surprisingly though, I did like the feature film length version of Jane Eyre with Michael Fassbender.  The mini series version of that was great as well, but I do prefer the casting they did for the movie.
  • Big Fish
Yes! I was trying to think of the name of this one and my mind was blanking.

I feel exactly the opposite. I think both versions work extremely well depending on your mood. Junewhatevs.

    This!
I loved the BBC version, but couldn't get into the Keira Knightly one. I'm not a huge fan of Keira Knightly though, so there is that.

This is a weird one because I feel like the book and movie are only distant cousins or something. They are almost not even the same thing.

I did love the movie though.

  • My uncle says that Forrest Gump is ten million times better as a movie. I didn't even know it was a book until he told me.
I agree. This book is terrible. I mean, really awful.

So not a fan of the book at all.
  • Bridget Jones' Diary (the movie was better than the spare writing in the book, as I recall).
Ditto Princess Bride and Devil Wears Prada.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • Hands down The Princess Bride.
Others for me would be Bridget Jones, The Notebook, Casino Royale, and Gone With the Wind.
