A tipsy/drunkish confession
I don't know if I can handle a bfn this cycle.
If it happens, we will have three more frozen embryos. While they were decent enough to freeze, quality was not good. Not even close.
Maybe I am borrowing trouble, but I feel like there is a clear line that has been drawn, and we are awfully close. Flirting with crossing it. We will not do IVF again, unless something drastically changes with insurance and it is covered.
Also- we did decide on adopting through the foster care system in our state if this doesn't work. I was fine (more than fine actually) with it. Until today. I found a website that shows which kids/sibling sets are up for adoption in our state. In our age range (under 3), 100% had disabilities that are beyond our comfort zone. So. That sucks.
I'm just getting scared. The end is near, and I don't know how this journey will end. The control is out of my hands. That's hard.
International adoption and domestic infant adoption are pretty much out. Partially money, partially the law.
I am just feeling like this is a gamble. Maybe we will have a happy ending.... But maybe we won't. Ugh.

I just want to say that domestic adoption was financially beyond our means. But, in going public with our story, we have received an incredible amount of support in fundraising. And it's making it possible. It might not be fast, but it's possible now. I dont quite understand the legal problems with domestic?
Also, at least in CT, you can say no to as many children as you'd like, or be very restrictive with your choices. It may mean waiting much longer than others, but I don't think it rules it out completely.

@panderp International adoption laws (Haiti anyway, which I am drawn to) require that we be married longer and have no debt (so on top of paying for it, we would have to pay off our mortgage, lol). So that is out. My state reeeeaally encourages open adoption, which H isn't comfortable with. Over 90 percent are open, and state law says that bio parents can see the kids up to three times a year. Because closed is so infrequent, the wait average is 8 years. It's just unrealistic for us. I have not looked into going to another state... Not sure how that works.
Also, I am really comfortable adopting children that aren't newborn. I have no problem with it. I'd love a sibling set and don't care about race or sex. I feel like those things push me towards the foster care system.
Fajita had some good advice, and I think I have more learning to do.
Regardless, we will see how this fall goes. I'm just overwhelmed with everything right now.

And your state may encourage it, but it doesnt mean you have to do it (I dont know what kind of influence your state has on your private agency's requirements....). You really are borrowing worry that may not be there.
