Desert Island Top Five Books
DH made me answer this question last night while we were driving home from dinner. His caveat was you can include 1 series plus 4 stand alone books that would be the only books you could read for the rest of your life.
These were my choices:
1. Harry Potter series (obvs..)
2. The Giver by Lois Lowry
3. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
4. The Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry
5. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer
I think this list would cover me for almost any mood I could be in. I told him the question was unfair but whatevs. Anyone else wanna play?
Re: Desert Island Top Five Books
2. A Gathering of Old Men by Ernest Gaines
3. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
4. The Body by Stephen King
5. Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller
2. The Bible
3. Count of Monte Cristo
4. The Hobbit
5. A James Herriot book (no real preference as long as it was one of the longer ones)
2. Matilda
3. The Deathly Hallows (if I can't have the whole series)
4. Like Water For Chocolate
5. Tell the Wolves I'm Home
Hollowed out. Inside, waterproof matches, iodine tablets, beet seeds, protein bars, NASA blanket, and, in case I get bored, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. No, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Question: did my shoes come off in the plane crash?

4. The Name of the Wind
5. The Night Circus or The Historian (all things being equal)
Izzy and Baby A ~ Adorable Punks

Love: March 2010 Marriage: July 2013 Debt Free: October 2014 TTC: May 2015
my read shelf:
2) The View from Saturday
3) All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten
4) Little Women
5) The House at Pooh Corner
My standalones would be:
- The Pursuit of Happiness by Douglas Kennedy
- The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
- TFIOS because I would definitely need a good full-body ugly cry every few days because I'd be on an island
- Gone with the Wind
Obvs I've opted for longer books to make the most of my limited time.2. The Sea of Tranquility
3. Beautiful Darkness
4. Outlander (1st book)
5. One of the Sultry books... probably the second one.
That was HARD!
