WIJFR: Siege and Storm (SP)

Ahhhhhh!

Ok, so there's a lot in my head right now, but I will try to sort it out as I go.

#1. I love Nikolai. I know, I should be rooting for Mal, but I just can't. I think there's merit in what the Darkling said. Mal and Alina just aren't compatible romantically. But Nikolai? Swoon.

#2. Those freaking shadow creatures are scary as hell.

#3. Self-sacrificing Alina using the Darkling's powers to kill him (and her)...totally kick ass.

#4. That last scene where she's in her self titled tomb really bothered me. She was in such a position of weakness, that her last thoughts didn't ring true. Maybe I'm just over thinking it, but she just went on this whole monologue about how it's more convenient to be a dead martyr than a living saint and all that, and then she wants vengeance? Idk, I wanted more strength from her before such a bold statement.

Such a great series.

#1. I love Nikolai too! I am rooting for both of them.

Alina and Mal may not be compatible romantically but maybe they will be compatible as amplifiers.  What if he's the firebird?

  • I loved Nikolai too!  And I am still swooning over the Darling even though he is bad (I love the bad boys).  I feel like we don't really even know Mal.

However, if Mal is the firebird I will die.  Dead.

I have no doubt that Nikolai will be alive and have a role in the next book.
    90 books in 2015?

  • Nikolai survived book 2. I'm not so sure he will survive book 3.

I think Mal and Alina WILL be compatible when Mal figures out his powers. That's the whole rift between them - he doesn't understand her connection to her power, but I'm POSITIVE that if Mal isn't actually the firebird, he's going to discover some sort of amazing power and then everything will fall into place for them.

Leaving Nikolai available for me ::swoon:: you know, if he's not dead.

  • Sorry Mal lovers. I don't think Mal's lack of understanding Alina's powers is the ONLY rift between them. I think he fears her. And that whole Zoya thing? Oh hell no.

I agree with the Darkling love. I know the Darkling is bad, but I have to constantly remind myself of that whenever he enters a scene. Bad Darkling, Bad.

I hate to say this but I think I agree with @84Lauren.  Sorry @booneybear.

He's a loved character and the masses would hate to see him go.  However, in my mind, he's the obvious choice- espeically if Mal is going to be the firebird. hehe

But now that his brother is dead and the king is an old fart and sickly, I believe that Nikolai has to survive to become king.  I don't think him and Alina will get together (unfortunately) but I do think he will survive to become king.

  • Nikolai for sure survived book 2.

I'm convinced, because in the beginning of the book her "dreams" were what was really happening. In the epilogue, she dreams of Nikolai so I KNOW HE'S ALIVE. If he's not, we're going to have problems.

I'm sure the author would want to bring out emotion from her readers and that would be a for sure way to do it.

Hey I don't want it to happen either but I'm a realist in my theories.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I could more swiftly move the Grand Canyon than make Joyce do something she doesn't want to do.

I think I've been trying to make her read these series for what? Three years? Four years? Skyscrapers have been built in less time.

I would rather pluck out my eyeballs with tweezers then read Outlander.  I have tried it many times and it just isn't for me.

The jury is out on how the mafia and I are still good friends.

Sigh. The only allowances I will give are that #1 She's overly descriptive. I remember thinking "oh my God, I don't care how each leaf looks!" and #2 the slang is hard to get into for some people.

In the wise words of @booneybear, not everyone has great taste in books. :P
