Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

  • I think Harry Potter spoiled book-to-movie expectations for everyone. They did, somehow, find people that looked literally exactly like Harry, Ron and Hermione but it was 1-insane casting and 2-a freak accident that those people actually existed.

I get annoyed with people who say, while discussing casting: "but he's supposed to have BLUE EYES!!! WAHHHH!" Unless his blue eyes were a serious plot point, let it go. These are characters in a book. The likelihood of someone existing that looks identical to how you picture them is almost nil. The likelihood of that person also being an actor? Zero. The chance is zero.

I don't think that this messes up a movie or even matters much as long as the director and actors stay true to the heart and basic plot of the movie.

I'm probably the odd man out here, but it's been driving me nuts lately.

I agree. And not only that, if looks ARE a huge plot point, there are always things that Hollywood can do like dye hair and make the actor wear contacts.

  • @lauren620 Hang in there.  Hopefully they will realize how valuable you are.  Are you going to look for another job? Life is too short to be miserable and especially at a place we spend the majority of our lives (I should totes take my own advice).

Well... since you brought up eye color.... Harry's eyes are SUPPOSED TO BE GREEN!!!!   ;)
  • @Lauren620 I'm sorry :( that's so frustrating.  Can you use this as fuel to ask for another raise at the end of the year?  Clearly you do more high quality work than your lazy, higher paid CWs!

After the "but Adam in If I Stay should have longer hair" ridiculousness on this board, I couldn't agree more.

I get this. Because I do still super like him and watch all his videos and whatnot, but I have to admit that my love is waning.

The making of the movie stuff was fun at first and then tipped into over-exposure category for me.

    LOL, sorry.

I just meant that the NaNo story I'm writing is the same genre as a popular series here.  I have some beef with that series, so I'm using that to inform my writing.  I don't want to make the same "mistakes" I see in that series.

Also, I have been letting the puppy sleep in our bed at night since DH has been gone on his kayaking trip last Saturday. DH comes home this Saturday. I plan to play shocked when Scout jumps on the bed. I am sure he will not be fooled. lol. He had to know this was coming, right?

  • My body is being weird and confusing and I'm mad at it and I've been taking it out on DH pretty much all week. It's like I know the source of my anger and there's literally nothing DH did or can do but for some reason I can't stop being mean to him sometimes. And that makes me mad at myself in addition to my body, especially since he's been really understanding about it.. ::sigh::

    First off a story:

As you might have remembered from the last time I posted in a confession post my husband and I were debating moving. Well Friday night came and no call so we called my sister and parents to let them know we would need to move. I told my best friend and finally answered someone's request for something to do with next year. I was wondering around my craft room, on Saturday, wondering how many boxes I was going to need and what was going to hold up in storage when my husband suggested I check my email.

I checked the email and there was a message from someone I interviewed for asking for my contact information. I sent it off. I checked back on Monday to make sure he got it and found he was not in the office that day. So I spent the rest of the day just running around cleaning and prepping to tell our land lady the big move news. About 3pm on that Monday I got a call and the job offer. I get to stay where I am after all.

    So on to my confession:

I have been working here 4 days and already I am making up work to do. They wanted me to train with the office manager so I can do her job if needed. I am to be her back up when things get crazy. I learned everything she wanted to show me in one day. They are not going to start me on the big projects (social media, graphic design, etc.) until Monday, so today I am making up work and posting on the Nest.

  • @Geekywife CONGRATS on the new job!

My confession which is kind of a story too:

I feel like an old, angry woman but the new manager in an office next to mine invited his wife and his two kids (3 & 5) to the office for lunch.  Instead of them eating in the lunch room, they are eating in his office right next to mine and the kids are screaming and kicking the walls.  I slammed my door shut.  This lack of courtesy for those of us that are working is ridiculous.  Granted, I'm Nesting right now but still.

On top of this, one of our other EEs was yelled at for her kids stopping in but it's apparently okay for his family to stop in.

I plan on closing my door all day now.

  • I hate turning on the heat for the season.  The smell gives me a really bad headache and I have irrational fears over something going wrong in the system, so I usually arrange to be gone for a few hours at least after it's turned on for the first time.
All that to say, it's less than 55 degrees in the house right now.  I can't get out today, so there is a lot of bundling going on.  Putting on pants other than my fleece pajama pants is kind of torture and I wont even speak of how cold it is to go to the bathroom.
I could turn it on, sure, but then I'd be sitting alone in my self-induce panic of what ifs.
