Re: GTKY: Job

  • What do you do for a living? I work for the Canadian government in sport.  I am also a Registered Kinesiologist working on setting up a side business.

Do you like it? I do love the work I do right now.  I really love being a Kin.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick? I would love to switch careers and work in private as a kin/health promoter but the benefits keep me with gov full time.  I am trying to switch departments to align my work with my interests.

  • What do you do for a living? I work for government and I'm a "policy analyst".  I do a lot of strategic advice-type work, mostly related to Parliament/government. My work also involves a bit of speech-writing and preparing the head of our organization with Qs and As and background information.

Do you like it? I do.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick? If I could make money sewing and making crafts, I would do that.  If I was younger (or more ambitious) I would probably get a law degree to help in advancing my career.

  • What do you do for a living?
I've run an IT company for the last 11 years.  My dad and I opened it and now my mom and husband work with us.  We focus on buying and selling enterprise class IT equipment.

    Do you like it? Sometimes.
I've been regretting not finishing college the last year or so, and wish I would have at least done that before focusing on the business.  But, I make good money and I'm responsible for my own success, so can't complain too much :)

If you could do anything else, what would you pick?
I always wanted to be a psychologist.

I'm a certified clinical hemodialysis technician. I run dialysis treatments for patients with kidney disease.

    Do you like it?
    95% I do. I guess that's the best I can ask for.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick?
I would love to be a SAHW or SAHM. other than that, I am happy working where I work, doing what I do.
  • What do you do for a living? I'm an Insurance Agent for an independent agency.  I also sell Tastefully Simple on the side.

Do you like it? Love what I do, hate that I do it for someone else.  Absolutely love selling TS though.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick? Professional traveler or an interior decorater/home design planner.

  • What do you do for a living? I'm the Employment & Recruitment Administrator for the long term care division of a healthcare company. Basically, I support our nursing homes with their recruiting strategies and recruit for home office positions.

Do you like it? Most days.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick?  I often think about becoming a psychologist or marriage counselor, but my first choice would be SAHM.

  • What do you do for a living? I teach 8th grade ELA (English/Language Arts). I have about 75 kids this year.

Do you like it? Most days. I love my kids and my colleagues. I hate the politics and the fact that our town doesn't support teachers.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick? I love what I do, so I don't know that I would change careers even with the option. I'd change some things about my job. If I HAD to do something else, I'd be a beer taste tester. ;-)

What do you do for a living? I work in human resources FT for a very large company and do AdvoCare PT.

Do you like it? If I have to work, yeah. I like what I do.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick? I would LOVE to be a housewife... and by housewife, I mean cleaning, cooking, etc, not just sitting around all day watching trash tv and shopping! I'd also want to continue working our AdvoCare business bc I love that "job"

Do you like it?  I love working with the kids and mostly the parents, but I hate all the politics and paperwork the agency makes us do.  I would love to be in private practice.

If you could do anything else, what would you pick?  Probably interior design or styist.  But I think that I would get my feelings hurt and would always second guess myself.

Massachusetts is cutting budgets......thus firing guidance counselors, so even my new found behavioral experience isn't helping me break into the field :( so while I have applied for over 400 jobs in three years, and made it pretty far in the process (I was #2 for one job) someone always has more experience or knows someone :( its really crappy :(

  • What do you do? I support the sales team for a company that does architectural design for public spaces.

Do you like it? I have been here for four months. I was always in the nonprofit sector before. Some things I really like. Some I don't. But it is close to home and affords me a much better work/life balance than I have ever had. And it pays more than I've ever made. So, I don't know.

What would I do? If I knew this, that would be helpful. I love aspects of marketing. I love real estate, but I don't love the unpredictable pay of that. So, if I could do marketing for real estate and/ or tourism, Id like that.
