Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges? What's happening by you weather-wise this weekend? Vortex? Snow? Rain? Sun?

Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • I started The Winter Sea this week. I'm not too far into it but enjoying it so far. I am listening to Fangirl and should finish it early next week, I'm still loving it, but I'm ready for the end. These are numbers 9 and 10 for the year. My goal is 50.

  • I'm going to start Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham on audio at work today.  I'm excited for it.

I have about 90 pages of Scorpio Races left which I will hopefully finish tonight.

They are numbers 13 & 14 for the year.

It's cold here and I wish this snow would melt already, but other than that it's at least sunny.

  • I am still working on A Storm of Swords but I finished my other two books yesterday.  I am going to start my IRL book club book, A Thousand Splendid Suns today.  I will probably start something else just not sure what yet.

  • I'm reading Lethal Rider.  It's alright so far.  I have some issues with parts of story, but I'm hoping it will work out by the end. #5

I'm listening to Death Blows by D.D. Barant.  It's OK.  It's a second in a series.  I like the MC, she's witty and funny, but the story isn't quite there.  #6

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I'm listening to The Splendour Falls, which is a good story.  I just downloaded the audio of Outlander (I read it years ago) to start next.  I'm reading Vampire Academy for my buddy read, and for a book club I'm reading Beautiful Ruins.

I'm in Minnesota - today it is getting warm, but then right back to cold.  School was cancelled yesterday because of the cold - so I got a lot of reading done.

  • I just finished Still Alice by Lisa Genova yesterday for my Buddy Read. I enjoyed it, as much as you can with that particular topic. I am also reading Under My Skin by J. M. Stone. I am pretty much reading this one for the sexy parts, of which there are a ton. I like the first book better, which was Skin Deep. It had more of a story to it. It is number #8 for the year. My goal is 75.

  • I have "The Ghost Bride" by Yangsze Choo and "Earth Bound" by Aprilynne Pike on my desk. Not sure which I'll start. We'll have to see what I'm in the mood for tonight. And yes, we're at the mercy of another freezepocalypse. Winter sucks.

    I wrote this!
  • I'm reading "Wool" by Hugh Howey and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's #6 for the year, and since I decided to do WBC I'm hoping to fit it in there somewhere.
Weather-wise it's just cold here. Right now it's 5 with a wind chill of -6, which isn't too bad. The sun's out at least! It'll be in the teens all weekend. Typical winter in PA.

  • I am reading The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker and I am loving it.  I am almost 1/2 way through and I am trying to read slow and savor it.

I am also reading The Harding Era by Robert K. Murray for my presidential challenge.

These are books #10 & #11 for the year.

  • I picked up Dragonfly in Amber a couple of days ago and started that.  I'm also listening to Reaver.  I thought I had it figured out and she threw in something I totally wasn't expecting.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I am reading The Medium. It was a free kindle book but sucked me in right away.
I am listening to Tell The Wolves I'm Home. I am really enjoying it.
I think we are seeing the end of the polar vortex its supposed to warm up this afternoon but we have a snow squall warning for tomorrow.
  • I just finished House of Chains in the Malazan book of the Fallen series. It was good. It is number seven for the year. I'm not sure what I'm going to pick up next. I wish the next Kate Daniels was out!

We have chilly weather here and it is forecasted to continue through the next week.

  • I'm reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. I'm only a few chapters in, so I'm not sure what I think let. It hasn't grabbed my interest yet, but we'll see. It's # 8 for my goal of 40.

The weather here is very cold. The sun is shining but there is some snow on the ground. The high today is supposed to be 17 degrees. It's currently -1 and feels like -18.

Having to force myself to pick up The Edge of Never for Buddy Reads.  It was getting better and then turned into a porno.

#10 for the year.  Apparently my sig thinks I already finished it.

It's freezing here.  40mph winds.  -25 degree wind chills.  We're supposed to get snow too.  Oh and a high of -2 on Monday.

  • I'm reading Feast for Crows, it is # 10 for the year, it's good but I'm just waiting for things to happen.

I'm also listening to Catherine the Great, it is #11 for the year, it is very dense but very interesting. I hope to finish it today at work but I will have to be left completely alone and that's never going to happen.

  • I'm starting THE TRUTH ABOUT ALICE tonight, and I'm so PUMPED, the author was one of my writing retreat buddies last weekend, so now, I'm EXTRA excited to read it. :)
  • I'm almost done listening to The Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms #3).  I've enjoyed it as much as I liked the first two.  I found myself getting more fired up throughout this one.  I think that listening to all of these so close to one another is having an effect on me - I've spent so much time with these characters lately, they're getting real to me.

I'm reading More Than This by Patrick Ness.  I forget who recommended this one, but thank you!  I'm loving it, even though I think I'm still as confused as the MC as to what is going on.  It's fascinating and I hope I get a lot of reading in this weekend.

These are numbers 6 and 7 for the year, but I have no goal in mind and am not participating in any challenges.

The weather here is FREEZING and windy and awful.  It's sunny out, but being on the water, the wind is that wet cold that goes right inside you.  It's awful.  My skin is so dry it hurts.
  • My nephew is resisting learning to read and I'm not sure why.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I'm reading One Rogue Too Many by Samantha Grace. It's just ok for me.

The weather here is frigid. Sub-zero windchills. Two of our 3 cars wouldn't start due to the cold temperatures, including hubby's work vehicle. I think we're supposed to get several inches of snow tomorrow and again on Sunday. SIGH. At least I have plenty of books to read!

  • Someone Else's Love Story by Joshlyn Jackson (love her stuff). Weather wise-damn cold outside. The walk to work this morning was a little rough even if it was less than a quarter mile. I'm actually looking forward to temps in the 30s tomorrow.

  • @beebe918 I hope you like Someday, Someday Maybe.  I just finished it on audio and I enjoyed in thoroughly.

I'm reading The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien for my IRL book club.  I love this book and it's a re-read so I'm trying to read it slowly so I can fall in love with it again.

I'm listening to Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, & The Prison of Belief by Lawrence Wright.  I started it this morning but find it fascinating so far.  I love studies on religion and it's affects.

They are 5 and 6 for the year.

Also, it's freezing here and I'm over it.

We're on day 50+ of no rain here. Warm, but air is horribly polluted.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • @beebe918 I hope you like Someday, Someday Maybe.  I just finished it on audio and I enjoyed in thoroughly.

I'll let you know!  I feel kind of silly because I did not know the author was Lorelei.  I don't know what led me to initially put the book on my to-read list but I was desperate for an audio book and it was readily available on overdrive so I checked it out.  I start listening to it this morning and I'm like this voice sounds familiar lol.

  • I'm working on Tell The Wolves I'm Home (#2). I'm about 100 pages in and still unsure about it. Something's off about this story (is that the point?) and it's bothering me that we haven't gotten to the meat of anything. I'm venturing to guess that about 100 pages could probably be cut out of this book and I wouldn't miss much. Maybe I'll change my mind when I finish, but right now I'm slogging through it.
