But I saw them as I was walking out and did not want to get back in line. I am now EXTREMELY mad at myself because I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THEM!!! What a perfect combo, I NEED to go back asap! Has anyone tried this yet?

  • I just bought a retirement card for my best friends dad for his Naturalization party tonight!

BUT it is perfect! Here is my rationalization hahaha he 1. retired his green card and 2. it says something about enjoying your freedom...he is now a US Citizen ;-)

Go ahead and judge but I am laughing I think this is GREAT! (and her dad will love it and think it is funny hahaha)

While this is funny and well-thought out, my sister and I always buy absurd cards for each other.  I was over the moon when for her birthday last year (in May) I was able to find a Happy St. Patrick's Day card that contained both a unicorn and one of those 'i'm irish' pins.  She got me a get well card in German.  I loved it.

Kind of related to making and keeping friends as an adult...I often don't make IRL friends because I am absolutely overwhelmed by the thought of having to make "small talk". I will dread an upcoming dinner date with a friend, because I agonize over making conversation. I don't know what's wrong with me that I can't just freaking  let it go. I love my friends, I am interested in them, but I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY IN PERSON.

This is also why I hate the phone.

I end up so stressed out about what to talk about, I can't enjoy any of the time spent with the person. The pressure I put on myself is too much, and I end up being relieved if plans are cancelled, or making my own excuses to cancel. This is why I would make a great hermit, and why internet friends are awesome.
I feel you.  I have no problem chatting with people I'm comfortable with, but the awkward starting new friendship conversations is SO hard.

I was so thankful for @duxcaelo at our first NE GTG.  She's so good at making conversation!

    Aw thanks!

  • But they're not Reese's peanut butter cups crossed with Butterfingers, they're just Butterfinger's version of peanut butter cups, right?  Because that's not quite as exciting as if Reese's and Butterfingers actually had a baby together (but it's damn close.  I need these in my life, too, and I'm stopping at CVS on my way home today to try and make that happen).

Hmm, interesting.  I'm curious as to why Butterfinger (which is not peanut butter, right?) needs to make peanut butter items? I would think Nestle might want to introduce a new product line.

I don't' know why I'm hating on this so much.

ETA: I just tried searching their website to support the non peanut butter item, but they make it so hard to find it.  I got caught up in Nestle's commitment to health and wellness. Dude, I know your candy products are filled with calories and fat/sugar.  You nutrition facts and ingredients are not going to be a revelation.

I have nothing fun to confess. My life is boring this week. Although a woman was really rude to the cashier at the grocery store I went to yesterday. I mean absolutely and disgustingly rude. I confess that when she was returning her shopping cart I considered keying her car. I've never done that and highly doubt I ever will but still. I was appalled at myself lol.

Butterfinger is peanut butter flavored, isn't it?  It's obviously not real peanut butter, but isn't it meant to taste like peanut butter?

Nestle's commitment to health and wellness?!  HA!

I think it is a mixure of both.  This is the description it gives on the website...

The classic peanut butter cup was missing something…until now. The combination of creamy milk chocolate, smooth peanut butter and the perfect dose of BUTTERFINGER® took the cup to a whole ‘nother level.  http://www.butterfingercups.com/#trycurious

    I have to try these.

I really need to un-see this.

My confession is that I have been talking about vacuuming for days, but I have yet to actually vacuum. The dog hair is threatening to take over, and I would feel much better once I was done, but I just can't find it within myself to give a shit. So that means that perhaps it will get done Monday because I have to work all weekend.

I reconnected with an old college friend recently, and yesterday had her and her daughter over for a playdate. It was fun, and I had a good time, but I remember now maybe some of the things that made me stop talking with her.

  • DH goes before the Board of Ordained Ministry (Methodist) on Monday afternoon.  If he is not approved for ordination, he will be crushed.  This process has been excruciating for him, and if he gets deferred another year...I just don't know what this will do to his morale.  He cares so much about his work and his calling, and I really want him to have a smooth interview.

My confession is that I want this for him almost as much as he wants it for himself, and not for 100% altruistic motives (although it's mostly that).  I want my DH back.  I want him to be free from this interminable bureaucratic process and more available to me.  This makes me selfish, I know, but it's only a small part of why I want this for him.  I wish I had the passion for anything in my life the way he is passionate about his calling.

  • Along the lines of difficulty having friends as an adult. My honest to god best friends are all my siblings. I don't know that I'd go to any other friends with the real me the way I can with my siblings. And when it comes down to who I want to spend my time with, it's always them. I had my 30th birthday party tonight and didnt invite any friends, just my family bc they're who I want to be with when it comes down to it.

One of my co-workers, constantly talks over me or interrupts me when I'm speaking to someone else.  He did this morning when I was talking to one of our sales guys about something and he basically talked over the both of us and said the exact same thing I had already said.  I cut him off and said "I know I just said that." I was a complete bitch but I'm over being disrespected and maybe I'm over reacting but it comes off in this you're a woman I'm a man I know more than you way.
This happens to women in our office a lot. I just started calling people out on it. That stuff gets old real quick. You're not being a bitch, IMO. He was being an asshole!
This happens to me and I HAAAATE it. I was so relieved while reading "Lean In" that studies show that women get interrupted in the office more often than men by both men and women. I have yet to figure out a response in an office where snark isn't appropriate though. Any ideas?

I think that's awesome, Julie! My sister is one of my best friends, and I am so happy that she has moved back to this area so I can spend more time with her. I am glad you have such a great relationship with your family!

I love this. :x  My sister is my best friend outside of DH.  I'm not quite as close to my brother, but we're still awesome when we get together.  I only have one other non-family friend that I'm really close to.
