NBR: Kids Poll

Re: NBR: Kids Poll

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) I have 2. Madison (12) and Ashlee (9)

How many do you want to have? 4. But I won't.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? Yes. I never realized how expensive they would be (money sucking things they are- j/k- maybe).  So we realized 2 was fun and affordable for us. We are very happy. I have no regrets.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? I think I already share so much about them. You probably know it all. They are my perfect angels (HAHAHAHAHAHA). Ya right.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like) Just Amelia. She turned 1 on the 8th.

How many do you want to have? Three or more, I think.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? It changes frequently throughout the day... lol But I usually settle on three.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? Nothing really to share. I'm just enjoying watching her grow up and I can't wait to have another.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like)  Three. For privacy, I won't name them. G is 5. E is 3 1/2. Baby A is going to join us in 5 weeks.

How many do you want to have? We are finished after Baby A. I'll have a tubal during the C-section.  There are many reasons and considerations, but overwhelmingly, it's because C-sections have hard recoveries and always contain a level of risk.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? Not since having kids, but we wanted 4 when we were dating. The first c-section changed that.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? I am REALLY enjoying this stage with my bigger kids. At 5 and 3.5, they play together so well. It's very enjoyable to watch/hear their pretend play. They come up with the silliest games and songs to entertain each other. It's just very very fun!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • How many currently? Currently no human ones (5 furbabies though if you count the horse). We plan to start trying *as soon as* we finish finish our doctorates which should be May of 2015. So hopefully by June of 2015 we can start (I'm a little excited!!!)

How many do you want? I say 3; DH is adamant about 2

Thoughts Changed? Actually yes for me...I worked as a nanny for 3.5 years (The kids were 1 and 3 when I started and are now 5 and 7) and the two of them were so amazing that I could easily have seen how the family could add a third (they talked about it at one point). After that I changed my number from 2 to 3.

Kid Random: I miss the two kids I nannied soooo much. Not a day goes by when I don't think of them and there is a small part of me that feels like "my" children are being raised without me. We still stay in close touch and talk/visit as often as we can but it's never enough. Part of the reason I can't wait to have my own is so I can have all the amazing times with my own kids but never have to worry about saying goodbye after a few years.

How many do you want to have? I've always thought 3. DH says we are done, but I'm not sure yet.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? I've always thought 3.  Somedays, I think there is no way I would have another one, but other days, I can't imagine not ever being pregnant again or holding a newborn of my own again.  Lately, I've definitely had baby fever.  It will have to take some pretty hefty convincing to get DH to agree to another one though. :(

Kid random... anything you'd like to share? Hunter has really started giving kisses and saying "wuv you" and it just melts my heart.  On the other hand, Isabella apparently has been watching mommy and daddy kissing or too much TV, because she kisses her dolls full on make-out session.  I've had to try and explain to her why little kids don't kiss like that.  I still just get a "why" after my explanations...

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?  I always pictured myself as a mom of boys, but now that I have a little girl, I would prefer to have another girl.  And not just because I already have lots of girl stuff (though that is handy), I just really love having a little girl so much that I can't imagine having a boy.  Dh feels the same way.
I'm the exact same way except switch the genders. I always imagined I'd have little girls and do crafts with them and share books when they got older, but after I had Archer I loved having one little boy so much that I hoped #2 would be a boy too. He was.

2: Archer is 4 and Fisher is a year and a half

How many do you want to have? Unless we have a surprise, I'm happy to close up shop on the womb.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?
I'm not sure. I guess I might have been open to having 3 or 4 kids before I actually had any, but I always thought two would be a good number.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?
Fisher is learning new words like crazy these days. It always makes me smile when he says something new.

I desperately wanted to name my daughter Eden, but DH shot me down.  I adore that name.  If we ever have another girl, I'm going to campaign for that name again.  Maybe it was from you that I got the idea in the first place . . .

My husband and I discussed baby names before we got married.  If he would have said "No" to Eden, I might have cancelled the wedding!      ;)
Eden would've been on our short list if we'd had any girls. Besides just being a pretty name, it also sounds like my maiden name which will die out with this generation since we're all girls. I thought that would be a nice way to sort of keep it in the family.

  • How many do you have? (include names and ages if you'd like). 2 boys. K is 3 1/2 and Ry is just a year.

How many do you want to have? 2 but 3 hasn't been ruled out.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? Not really. Before kids we said at least 2 and up to 4. Four is out and as time passes and baby fever doesn't kick in I'm willing to be done at 2. Plus a 3rd would be mean upgrading our car, going through the newborn phase again and trying for an undetermined time (took a year to conceive each boy). I enjoy being pregnant though so we haven't made any permanent decisions.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?

Ry wasn't named for almost an hour after delivery. We were team green and went in pretty set on our girl name, so of course we had a boy. We had to choose from our top picks, the other two names were Noah and Lucas.

Looking back I'm a little sad we didn't use Daniel for his MN. Now if we're done neither kid is named after me while K has H's FN for his MN. But Ry does have my grandpa's name for his MN and I know he felt really honored, so that's my consolation.

We also were team green so went into delivery with a a girl name and two boy names.  We didn't end up naming Hunter until the next morning when we finally agreed on which name we really liked better.

  • @j*&p*    -- that would have been a great way to keep your maiden name (sorta) going!  That's too bad.  Maybe you can suggest it for a granddaughter.  ;)

@booknerd226 --  People sometimes think we say "Edith" when we mention her name.  Then we correct them by saying.  "No, it's EDEN.  Like the garden."  It works!

I think I'd like 2, this has been a current debate with DH lately
Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids?
I used to want 2-3 for sure, but now that I know how much energy it takes and how split I already am between anything I've been rethinking the idea of 3.
Kid random... anything you'd like to share?
I have a pretty irrational fear that's leading to my uncertainty about two. I have a fantastic kid and I'm really scared I wouldn't like another kid as much as I like M.

Kid random... anything you'd like to share?  DS was a suuuuper bald baby.. he had so little hair and it finally started growing decently when he was a little over a year.  So I couldn't stand the thought of cutting it.  It's a little on the longish side, but nothing crazy.  We were out to dinner last night and some woman thought he was a girl (despite the fairly boyish blue robot t-shirt that he was wearing).  Guess we're cutting it this weekend.  I know it needs to be cut, but it still makes me irrationally sad.
Emma is still super bald at 11 months. I have a feeling once it finally grows I will never want to cut it. Right now people always think she's a boy. Even when she's in a dress :/

  • 1) We have Baby A (2.75) and Baby Z (5.5 months).

    2) we're 99% sure the two girls are it.

    3) I used to want three kids but this last pregnancy got old really fast and as much as we love our kids and the stages they go through, we are NOT baby people. Second baby has been really hard on us and our marriage. Maybe it's other circumstances added, but as I write this, my toddler is sobbing/sulking in her bedroom. It's nearly 11pm. I think we're done here!

Random) Baby Z is pretty much sitting up on her own and it's the cutest. She refuses to roll over in my presence. If you have a face, she loves you. I have never seen such a happy baby but I've also never heard such a loud angry baby either! Baby A has begun to play with imaginary friends. It weirds us out.

How many do you want to have? None.

Has your thoughts on how many you want to have changed since having kids? I was always curious if my thoughts would change when my friends had kids, and they so haven't. I love their kids, and they call me their Auntie and I love buying them presents, but I'm glad that my friends (people who really want kids) have them, and then just let me play with them when I want to!

Random: My niece and nephew (and brother-in-law and his wife) were at our cabin this weekend. Niece is almost 8 and nephew is 5. Most of the time they are so well-behaved, but wow...when it gets too late at night watch out for the crabby-butts to make their appearance (which happens to me too, so I understand)! DH and I both had fun hanging out with them, but then we did the 3-hour ride home from the cabin in complete silence just because we had missed it (the silence) so much. I could never do what parents do.

I was always afraid that it wouldn't be a smooth transition after Logan because of the big age difference, but seriously... it's been amazing. Aidan loves his little brother so much and it just makes my heart swell each time I see them together.
