FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

«1

Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

  • I have made myself a commitment to do at least one thing once a month to get me out of my comfort zone.  For example, yesterday I had to do a group presentation in my history class.  Public speaking is my own personal hell.  But I got up there and I feel like I kept everyone engaged the few minutes I spoke.  At the end of it, I could tell the professor was impressed as well as the class.  I felt like a whole new woman walking out of there and I was soaring high with confidence.  I have always had issues with self-confidence, so I am thinking if I do more things out of my comfort zone it would do wonders.
Yea for you!  And I love your idea of doing one new thing a month.
  • Yesterday, I finally had a total meltdown about EVERYTHING going on in my life right now. I'm talking tears and irrational thinking. Consequently, it was also the first time a BAD review really got to me. But, today's a new day. Shaking all that off and going to have a great weekend. It is Mardi Gras!
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

Thank you!!  I don't have a game plan yet.  But tomorrow starts the new month so I will definitely be thinking of something. :)

I'm doing something slightly similar - every month one project around the house.  I am tired of just talking about painting, or getting new furniture, etc.  It is time for action!

Amen!!  One of the things I want to start doing is running.  All I do is talk about it and think about it, but I just don't do it.  Once my husband gets started in his new job and starts bringing in steady paychecks I want to join our local running club.  That is a great way for me to meet new people and get the extra support and boost that I need.

I came face to face with a fisher cat and I almost peed myself thinking the thing was going to attack me.  Luckily it stayed right where it was and let me go about my way.  They are mean little suckers.

You may be able to join the group runs without "joining" (paying) for the club.  Our local Road Runners club has members who pay for certain benefits but the group runs are always open to the public

Yes.  We've always called them fisher cats around here.  I'm not sure why, but I don't think it's just me.  I just assumed it was a wild cat!  A news story was on this morning about a possible mountain lion locally, but a witness claimed it was a fisher cat.  I didn't think it was that weird until they showed a picture.

  • This week I gave up on reading American Gods... I had been reading it for 5 days, and I was only about 50 pages in and I was actually not looking forward to spending time reading. I read The Ocean at the End of the Lane in December and LOVED it so figured I would try another Gaiman, but sadly this just wasn't the one for me.

You're not alone.  I've read 1/3 of American Gods and Anansi Boys and I couldn't finish either of them.  Stone away Gaimaniacs!

I find Gaiman much easier to digest in audio. But, I have enjoyed reading some of his stuff too. I loved, loved, loved the audiobook of Anansi Boys!

Thats funny that a Fisher was mistaken for a mountain lion! Not even close!

Fun useless fact for you. Fishers love cats. But not as friends. :(
Also Fishers are the only natural predator of porcupines.

His books as audiobooks are amazing. If you want to read anything else by him I highly recommend the audio. Especially the ones read by NG himself.

I finished it but wasn't overwhelmed with love by American Gods, but recently I read The Ocean at the End of the Lane and really, really liked it.

There's a package on the porch for me.  It's nothing terribly exciting (bath salts (no, not the drug!)), but I haven't gotten up from the couch to get the package even though the door is about 3 feet away from me.  I haz a lazy.

I'm also incredibly sad that my Aerogarden died.  I loved that thing so hard.  It's the closest thing I had to being able to have a green thumb and since I can't be out in the sun the only garden I could maintain.  But a new one would cost about $130 that we just don't have right now.

  • I have a completely irrational resentment toward naturally skinny women. I know it's dumb, and I know I shouldn't care, and, like I said, it's completely irrational. But I have the metabolism of a dead person and I have fat genes, so I have to be aware of every single crumb I put in my mouth. I have been damn near killing myself at CrossFit for almost a year now and I've hardly lost a pound, so I want to punch people who never have to work out and can eat whatever they want and are still thin.

    Ditto.

I have to watch everything I eat. I can't even tell you the last time I ate pasta or had a piece of cheesecake. I get irrationally pissed at the naturally skinny people I see eating pizza and onion rings for lunch at work. My metabolism is crap.

There is a group that meets every Tuesday night and they have 1,3, and 5 mile routes that is both free and open to the public.  But unfortuately with my school schedule I can't make it until this semester is over.  I'll have to look for other groups that I could join that are also free that is more convienient.  Either that or I just need to find a running buddy...  I am not self-motivated enough to stick to a schedule on my own.

    Siggy coming soon....

I read AG last year and it took me several months to get through it.  I did finish it but it really didn't do anything for me. I do want to try another Gaiman book though.
