Happy Friday! What are you reading?

Re: Happy Friday! What are you reading?

  • I'm reading Catching Fire by Nora Roberts (which I WILL finish this weekend) and just started my bazillionth re-read of HP on audio.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I have less than 100 pages left of The Fiery Cross!  This one is definitely the slowest pace, but there are so many parts I forgot about and am loving.

It's only #8 for the year, but it's also going to be about 6200+ pages, which means my AVERAGE book length so far this year is almost 800 pages!

    52 Books in 2014??

              40 books in 2014?

                      2014: 4/40

    [2010: 63] [2011: 35] [2012: 23] [2013: 27]

    my read shelf:
Stephanie's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor.  Not keeping my attention as well as the first in the series, but good enough to keep reading.  It's just all depressing so far.

The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman.  I like it so far.  Judith Light is one of the voice actors!  I was excited - it's Angela from Who's the Boss!  :)

  • I finally finished Sweet Silver Blues by Glen Cook.  I started reading it in an anthology, but I had to switch to the Kindle.  I'm starting to think that anthologies are not the way to go for me.  I need the individual book by itself to keep motivated.  Of course, unless I totally love the series.  Anyway, it was really good and I'm looking forward to finding the next book somehow.

I decided to get started on Ender's Game for SBC.  I doubt I'm going to get much reading done this weekend, so I won't be too far into it before SBC starts.

Oh yeah, they're books 9 and 10 for the year.

My Polymind (books, being green, random stuff)
  • American Spinx: The Character of Thomas Jefferson by Joseph J. Ellis

This is so far from what I normally read but it is interesting so far.  I am only into the second chapter which talks about his 5 year stay in Paris.
    Siggy coming soon....
  • I'm reading The Goldfinch for my URL book club and am liking it a lot. I think it's number 12 or so for the year.
  • I am nearly done with Dust and Sand, both books by Hugh Howey. They're 21 & 22 for the year and both good. Dust is better than Sand I think.

  • I'm reading Eleanor & Park and loving it!

  • I'm about halfway through The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. It's definitely different than I expected.

It's number 19 for the year.

This sounds interesting. I just requested it.

I am reading The Martian and devouring it. I read 300 pages in one sitting last night. I fully intend to try to fit in the rest during work. It is SO good.

I loved that book SO MUCH!
    @julie37619

I just finished and it was AMAZING! Thank you so much for the recommendation!
Wait, you read it based on my rec?  That seriously makes my day!  Sorry I'm just seeing this now.  Also, I'm thrilled that you liked it.  I've forced it on basically everyone I know.
