Re: GTKY: MM Related Questions

  • 1. What age do you want to retire?
65, of course I'd like to earlier, but that's what's realistic.
    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living? Floral design

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis? No, sometimes to book travel, but we've used debit recently for that too. We have paid off over 50k in cc debt between DH and I....so we don't use them anymore

    4. Are you a spender or a saver?
Spender by nature, saver by force (see previous cc debt!)

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be?
    A house

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it?
    Put it in savings.

  • 1. What age do you want to retire? I could retire at 62 if I wanted, my wife would only be 51 so she would have to be fully employed.  Most likely though, I will be like most engineers, work part-time if possible or find a temporary job during the winter months and have summers off.

    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living?  I would love to study European and Middle Eastern ancient history in those locations.

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis? I am banned from using credit cards, I am currently also banned from having debit cards on me.

    4. Are you a spender or a saver? I am a spend thrift that goes on binges once I have a decent amount saved up or my stress level goes up.

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be? I would buy a completely remodeled home.  Ours is from the early 1920's and has some issues.  I love the location, we are right off the main highway on a dead end close to most parts of our city.  I would just want to completely update both the inside, outside, and change the attic into living space.

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it?  I would squirrel it away for our summer vacation at Catabawa Island with her family.

For those that want to retire so early (55), what are you going to do with all that time.  I really enjoy what I do and can't imagine not ever doing it again.  I will probably always do it even if it's part time.  Extra money is always good no matter when it is I figure.

I want to do what my dad did. He retired at 55 took a few years off, then got a part time job driving senior citizens to different places with the town and he still does it and loves it. I wouldn't mind an easy job like that along with traveling, and chillen with H
  • 1. What age do you want to retire?
    60

    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living?

I'd really like to be a genealogist

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis?

No, we hardly ever use them

    4. Are you a spender or a saver?

    Saver

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be?

A fence for our back yard

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it?

Put it in our baby fund

  • 1. What age do you want to retire? Well DH wants to retire by about 62, so if I retire at the same time I will be 53. I'm not sure I will be ready for that so maybe we will do the whole semi-retirement thing and get a 'fun' job that you work for 20 hours or so a week. Otherwise I will probably work full time until I'm 60.

    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living? I love being a SAHM. If money weren't an issue and we were completely independently wealthy or something like that where neither of us needed to work we would travel a lot, and spend a lot of time with family.

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis? Yes. We have 1 card that we use for gas and other expenses that we don't want to carry cash for, and we pay it off each month.

    4. Are you a spender or a saver? Spender. I love getting a good deal. I coupon like crazy, but I also like saving money. I guess I'm kind of both??? I don't buy something unless it's on sale.

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be? I guess it would be going back to a previous question- a cruise. I've never been and really would like to do one.

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it? Ummm..... find a bargain cruise.... Fill up the gas tank and then probably put the rest in savings.

  • 1. What age do you want to retire? The year DD#1 and/or DD#2 have their first baby so I can help out a few days a week.

    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living? I would open an etsy shop and make stuffed animals, mini/doll quilts, baby clothes, embroidery, etc.

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis? Yes- we charge everything throughout the month and pay in full (unless it's 0% which we use for big purchases and spread it out over the 0% months).

    4. Are you a spender or a saver? Saver- always have been.

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be? Mini makeover for our bedroom- new rug, bed frame, bedside tables, lamps, bedding, and mattress for DH and me.. hopefully this summer.

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it? Buy a serger, more fabric, and something for DH and the girls.

  • 1. What age do you want to retire?  60.  And then I will probably go back to either do the same thing again or teach college classes.

    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living?  Either the same thing I'm doing now, go to medical school, or work in something where I didn't have to take it home all the time (varying ends of the spectrum, I know).

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis?  Yes, and pay them off each month.  I like the benefits of many of them (5% off, free shipping, points, etc.).

    4. Are you a spender or a saver?  Both.  I regularly save, but when I spend, it's for exactly what I want (which can get expensive).

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be?  A lakehouse.

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it?  Put it in savings for tuition in a few weeks.

  • 1. What age do you want to retire? Probably around 60, and continue doing relief work

    2. If money weren't an issue, what would you do for a living? Already doing it :) Veterinarian

    3. Do you use credit cards on a regular basis? No, we are currently doing the cash envelope system.

    4. Are you a spender or a saver? Saver, but DH is the spender, so there's compromise.

    5. If you could buy 1 thing right now (no matter the cost), what would it be? Pay off student loans, and pay cash for a house.

    6. You were just given $500 to spend. What would you do with it? Likely put it toward student loans.
