It's a weird one- WD-40 and pipe smoke. My dad has always gone to this hardware store. The old owner used to smoke his pipe all day while working and because of the tools, there was a lot of WD-40. He had to stop smoking in there like 15 years ago, but the smell is still faintly there. I smile every time I go in there.
I have a weird one too! Tomatoes on the vine! When I smell the vine part it reminds me of my dad (who is still alive). He builds a huge garden every year at my parents house and I always used to get tomatoes from him.
Lots, but I can't pinpoint the smell. Does that make sense?
I also love library smell, and had my heart set on getting married in the Boston public library (like since I was 15 and didn't even live on the east coast) I thought this was totally unique...
1- then stupid Carrie Bradsaw goes and makes it cool.
2-then I find out they do events there all the time and a wedding for 50 people would cost $40,000.

Whenever I go to the hardware store, I think of trips there with my dad when I was little! I love hardware store smell.
Lilac reminds me of a place my grandma used to live because the backyard was hedged by lilac bushes. She used to babysit my brothers and I a lot in the summer and the smell of lilacs still reminds me of her. She is alive, I just don't see her much anymore.
Our northern property line actually has a row of lilacs:)
