Happy Friday!

What are you reading? Is it for one of the challenges? Just for fun, are you carving any pumpkins this year?

Re: Happy Friday!

  • I'm reading Chicagoland Vampires #7. It's OK.  Maybe it will get better, I'm about halfway through. #83

I'm listening to Dreams of Gods and Monsters.  I'm about 80% done. I'm going to be the dissenter and say that I'm not really enjoying this one.  I'm finishing it out of commitment, not enjoyment.  #84.

I don't usually carve a pumpkin.  I don't mind painting or crafting with pumpkins, but I really dislike the scooping and carving. They never come out like I want them to.

  • I'm currently reading The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon. It's for my American Modernism and Post-Modernism Lit class, which I took because I thought it would be interesting. Turns out I hate American Modernism and Post-Modernism.

  • I'm reading Shaken by J.A. Konrath. I should finish today. This is number 50 for the year.

I will be picking up the Isla and the Happily Ever After audio book and Days of Blood and Starlight at the library tomorrow.

We have pumpkins to carve, but we will see if we have time to carve them. If not, I'm just as happy to keep them whole. I kind of like the way the look on a porch un-carved.

I'm going to start Damsel Distressed tonight! HOORAY!

  • I'm listening to Letters from Skye by Jessica Brockmole and I'm in love with it.

I'm casually reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at work when I can snatch a few minutes of downtime.

I'm reading Velvet Promise by Jude Devereux on my tablet because I missed the Montgomeries.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I'm almost done with First Impressions, by Charlie Lovett. It gets mixed reviews, but I am enjoying it. It isn't a great literary masterpiece, but it is all about books, and the people who love reading, writing, and even making them.

I'm also finally finishing up my reread of The Thirteenth Tale for IRL bookclub.

  • Happy Friday!  I'm not sure what to pick from my TBR pile...There are a few third books that I've never gotten to because I feel like I need to reread the series first (Ruin and Rising, Dreams of Gods and Monsters, Blue Lily, Lily Blue), then there's Bone Clocks and In the Approaches.
  • I'm re-listening to Ready Player One by Ernest Cline with DH.
I'm listening on my own to Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead.  I love the narrator's voice on this.  It feels like warm melted butter when she speaks.
I'm reading The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen which I'm also enjoying.

  • I just finished Grave Memory by Kalayna Price and thought I will just buy the next one immediately since the library does not have it so I can find out what happens next only to be disappointed that it has not been published yet. Now I am reading Autumn Bones by Jacqueline Carey. I like it so far. It's second in her Agent of Hel series.I am around 125 for the year.

I think we are going to get a pumpkin to carve and I'm happy to say that my H will likely do all the work. I'm also hoping to roast the seeds this year, which I've never done before.

I just set aside the book I was reading to start the two new books that I requested from the library since they are due sooner.

I'm reading Top-Secret Twenty-One by Janet Evanovich and China Dolls by Lisa See.  I'm only about 5 pages into each.

ETA: We have not carved pumpkins, although we have painted some.

  • I am reading Black Hills by Nora Roberts and Crushed by Sara Shepard.  I also just started a reread of HP and the Chamber of Secrets.  They are #64-66 for the year.

We carve a pumpkin every year but I usually leave that to DH and DD as they love Halloween and I don't really care for it.

  • I'm still not reading anything.  :(:(( :(( :((

I take the licensure exam on November 11. :-SS In the meantime it's all studying. The very second I leave that testing building though it is ON though.

DH's family is carving pumpkins tomorrow after attending a fall festival. We still haven't decided if we're going or not. I really want to, but studying.

  • I read We Were Liars earlier this week.  Quick read and I really enjoyed it!  It got me out of the book rut I was in.

I started The Cuckoo's Calling and quickly abandoned it for The Raven Boys.  The Raven Boys started out slowly for me but now I'm loving it and am wondering if it would be terrible to let Disney Jr. entertain my 3 year old this afternoon so I can finish it.
