Re: Monday Accountability
1. Pretty solid. We cooked dinner and watched a movie at home on Friday. Saturday we started a deep spring cleaning of the house then had dinner and boardgame night at a friend's house followed by drinks and NCAA basketball at a local pub. We used a groupon that we bought a few months ago at 50% off so we ended up only spending $10 for three rounds of drinks. Sunday my H went to the auto-store and did oil changes and some repairs on our cars while I wrapped up the cleaning and we ordered $15 of Chinese food for dinner. I'm eating the leftovers for lunch now
2. No
Due to the car repairs my H did this weekend we spent about $200 that wasn't initially budgeted, but we saved by not doing any other shopping or big entertainment costs. We didn't lose any ground but also didn't gain on our goals, our allotment to savings stayed steady though so I'm happy about that. We also finally filed our taxes so I'll chalk that up as a partial win. We were expecting a nice sized refund based on our previous year returns but unfortunately I think we moved up a tax bracket due to our now joint status and job promotions last year.
3. Laundry. My H is responsible for the dishes because I can't stand scrubbing grimy dishes. I incessantly wash my hands and clean my nails as it is, just a quirk I guess. Plus, I like doing laundry to make sure things are washed and dried using the correct cycles and folded/hung nicely for wrinkle avoidance. My H has a tendency to shrink or cause lint pils on my clothes when he tries to "help out" with the laundry, lol.
1. How MM was your weekend? Ugh, this weekend was painful. We had it mostly budgeted for, but still!
-$1,200 to have some large trees removed from the backyard (saved a couple hundred dollars by paying in cash as opposed to a card)
-$85 at Lowes
-$115 for groceries (I'm always amazed at how much I spend each week on this!)
-$12 at GameStop for a few used Xbox games
-$35 Dinner Out with Hubby on Saturday because I was too lazy to cook
+$350 Got paid for a bit of freelance work I did.
Well, the extra money I earned is going straight towards debt, so there's that. I was really tempted to spend it, but I'm trying to avoid temptation!
I HATE Laundry! It's not so much the washing/drying, it's more the putting away that I struggle with so clothes tend to stay in the basket after I pull them out of the dryer. I don't mind doing dishes because I keep up with everything each day, but if I've been traveling all week for work I tend to find a full weeks worth of dishes all over the place when I return (DH is not very good about putting things back--the house tends to look like a tornado hit if I'm gone for more than a day or two) . Now THAT I can't stand either, lol. So I guess my answer is neither?!?
I actually miss the days when my mother-in-law lived with us--she would randomly clean the house in the middle of the night so I'd often wake up to a sparkling clean house, laundry neatly folded in the living room and a freshly cooked breakfast.
2. We're doing a freezer/pantry clean out the next 2 weeks to save some money. We put $500 toward my student loan, $1,000 in savings for spending money during our May vacation, and another $1,000 to our bathroom remodeling fund. We are so close to completing several goals - only $3,500 left on my student loan and over half saved toward our new bathroom - but I'm starting to get super antsy!!
3. Laundry. I could never live without a dish washer.
@formerlyGDaisy09 Congrats!!! Great news!
1. $22 Pizza, $24 Gas
2. None
3. Dishes- It's very calming to me for some weird reason. It's quick and easy. Laundry takes about 2 hours of dedicated time to wait while the cycles finish, switching machines and folding/putting away ugg!
@formerlyGDaisy09, Congratulations! So exciting!
Friday I made out like a bandit. I completed 5 mystery shops (MS) in three hours for $80 in fees (plus reimbursements). At the end of the month, MS companies start getting desperate and up the fees.
No money spent Saturday.
$83 spent Sunday at Lowes for bits and pieces for my deck. Which, as it turns out, we will be returning half off, lol. My DH insisted we needed brackets for the underneath supports but then, when he actually started putting the supports in, decided bolts (or something like that) were better.
Normally, he doesn't pay that much attention to how much things cost...that's my job, lol. But he was really outraged the brackets cost $5.44 each. I tried to hide that I was amused by it.
Over the whole weekend, good progress made on the deck. The framework, supports, and sub flooring is all done. This week, DH will be cutting and fitting together the planks for the floor portion.
GTKY: I would rather do dishes because it is faster, but I don't mind either chore that much.

2. Any progress towards your goals? $200 to my student loan, $250 to our moving money account. $30 to our general savings.
3.GTKY: would you rather do dishes or laundry, why? Dishes. All day. I can't express how much I HATE doing laundry. Dishes don't really pile up around here, but I could go a couple weeks without doing laundry. So sometimes I do, and then it ends up even worse. It's a never-ending battle.
@formerlygdaisy09, congrats hope your pregnancy goes well.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not too good, spent $200 on removing trees in our yard, $30 extra on groceries than budgeted, $130 at Target and gas.
