Re: Lurkers??? Bueller??? Come on out!

  • I'm not super active but not a lurker, either. I hope this board gets more active again! I've gotten so many good recs over the years.

Loved Troublemaker!! I've liked Leah Remini ever since Saved By the Bell. I'm old. ;). Troublemaker was fascinating. Scientology is nutso.

  • I use to post on this board a long time ago, but I'm still a big time lurker. It makes me so sad this board isn't as active as it once used to be. I should probably post more often!

wife2james said: I'm still here!!  I haven't been a regular poster since 2010.  I have popped up with posts every once in awhile but I still check this board everyday just to see what everyone is recommending.  I have to shamefully admit that I read 2, yes ONLY 2 books last year!  I'm in school pursuing my bachelor's which leaves me little time to read.  I would still like to meet my 5 year goal of reading 25 books a year.  I need to make more time to read (New Year's resolution anyone??)
Anyway, I am currently reading Voyager.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Outlander series!!  I was one of those "doubters" early on.  I'll gladly take a bite of that humble pie. :)

I'm in the middle of a re-read of
Dragonfly in Amber, but Voyager is my all-time favorite from the series. Enjoy!

I hardly get around to posting anymore (not that I was ever a super active poster) but still check in for book recommendations. Going back to work this year and balancing it and the kids' after school things have cut into my "social" time but I still like checking for new recommendations!

  • I can't do anything other than lurk. I can't come on during the day and no one is on at night. I'm friends with a lot of you on Goodreads though. I read 126 books in 2015. I read mystery, historical fiction, romance, and paranormal/fantasy.

Ive been at my job 17 years, married for 11 1/2 years, have 3 daughters 29, 24 and 18 and a 1 year old grandson. I also have an 8 year old Yorkie that runs my house. My youngest is a senior in high school and I'm dreading the day she leaves for college.

I usually have 2 books going at a time, a library book and one on my Kindle. Right now I'm reading The Lake House by Kate Morton and The Paris Key by Juliet Blackwell.

  • Argh! It won't let me quote! I'm addicted to books about Scientology and LOVED Leah Remini's book. I definitely recommend audio. Also if you're fascinated by Scientology like me: read Going Clear.
I know I follow lots of you on GR and Instagram but I'm glad to see more board posting!
I'm reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt which I really like so far but I'm only 200 out of 776 pages in.

  • Hi,

My name is lotus624 and I'm a lurker. I joined the nest back in 2006 as a newlywed after using the knot to plan my wedding. I have been lurking for many years, enjoying all the book recommendations and discussions you ladies have provided. Flash forward 10 years- I am no longer married and no children were born from that marriage (thank god). However, I still enjoy reading everyone's post. I deeply miss the "weekend plan" threads since I was in school most of the time and lived vicariously through those who had 48 hours to devote to reading. I recently completed my degree in legal studies and have met a wonderful man. Although he does not read, he will inquire about the books I'm reading.

Now that I'm done with school, I can devote more time to leisure reading. I enjoy mystery/suspense thrillers, historical fiction, memoirs, and young adult fiction.

Honestly, I'll read anything but horror- I don't like things that go bump in the night! I recently read Room & loved the story told from the child's perspective. I am currently reading After Anna, which is similar to Room but delves more into what happens once an abducted child returns home.

I don't know how often I will be able to contribute to these discussions since I don't read nearly as much as most of you, but I feel better coming out of my shell and introducing myself.

  • I don't post anymore, but lurk often. I'm always checking to see what the newest "must reads" are. I just finished The Nightingale, and it was amazing! I don't know what to read next. It's hard after finishing something so good.

  • Hi. I still lurk every now and then.

I really stopped feeling welcome back when I was accused of being a troll/ a/e.

I also followed the GBCN leave, and stay mostly out that way.

Nothing really new with me. Still a middle school librarian. Still photographing weddings. My daughter just turned 3 this week.

Currently reading November 9 (audiobook) and Since You've Been gone. Honestly, I'm 'meh' about them.
  • I'm kinda here. I just happen to be Facebook or email friends with a lot of people on this board, so I just talk to people directly.

Love this! My coworker and I have started communicating primarily by animated GIF on iMessage, and this is definitely going into my pool of potential reactions!

  • I blew my friends minds a bit ago with my GIF keyboard on my phone.  Now, like @GilliC we primarily text in GIFs.

Yep! I downloaded the GIF Keyboard app.  Then I think you have to add it in your Keyboard settings so it shows up.

  • I tried the GIF keyboard but between my emoji and Bitmoji keyboard it felt like so much. I'm okay with the old fashioned way of posting GIFs for now.

  • I'm downloading the GIF keyboard app as we speak!  Thank you for telling me about this amazing thing!
    Siggy coming soon....
