  • wow! @hoffse, when did you file? I filed yesterday so i am assuming it will be delayed due to the system failure
  • I filed and mine came in 30 Jan.
  • Mine came in yesterday and I filed on the 28th I think.
  • you all are lucky! Hopefully my return won't be delayed for too long!
  • Yea, I saw that on the news last night! We are still waiting for 1 more document before we can file
  • We've received our state, but still waiting on federal. We filed last Saturday.

Wow you all are good... we haven't even sent in our stuff to the accountant yet.  I didn't get my last 1099 til Monday.

Then again, I'm not expecting a refund so subconsciously I'm probably dragging my feet because I'm dreading what we owe.
  • Haven't gotten my ass up and moving enough to figure up my expenses for the year.  We never send anything in until the end of February at the earliest.

I still haven't even gotten all my paperwork. I swear these people wait until the very last minute. So annoying. 8-|
  • The IRS said it was a hardware problem sonI envision a server catching fire or something. It would surprise me if it isn't fixed by Monday if not tomorrow. It went down yesterday afternoon.

That's me!  I just got W-2 and I-9 last week.  I should have two loan interest docs...one for my normal mortgage and one for my HELOC.  It's with the same bank.  Last year they sent me neither!  I had to call and request.  This year they have sent me one, but not the other.  At least not yet.

But I have to pay every year anyway, so I'm at least not waiting for a refund.  But it's still annoying to not have the docs I need to at least get the filing out of the way.

  • I'm jealous.  I'm still waiting for various forms.  Won't be filing until late Feb or March. :(

  • We just filed for federal two days ago but had some tech issues with the state so we'll try again tonight.
  • I haven't even started on mine yet.  Plan is to get it done this month.  I'm still finishing up on steam cleaning all of our carpets right now.  Last year our refund got delayed because it was missing some sort of ACA form - I don't think we got it back until June.  Hoping that doesn't happen this year.

Our bank has flaked on getting out the INT-1099 forms both online and in the mail. It's holding up our returns from being filed quickly like we wanted to. grrr.
  • I haven't received my w-2 from my previous employer yet. They sent me something I don't need about the health insurance I had when I worked there, so I don't know why I haven't received the w-2 yet.
  • I did mine 2 weeks ago online and got the refund in 4 days for federal & state (NY). Crazy but I'm not complaining. Hello, new couch!

I don't know what state you're in but they have up to a certain date to send it. You will get it soon.
  • My W2 is currently sitting in my office mailbox. Today is the last official day of my maternity leave, so I will get it monday and call our financial planner/tax guru to set up our appointment with her then. I bet it'll be march before we get our return. I'm expecting it'll be fairly large as we spent $30K+ on energy qualifited improvements to our home and had a baby.

This is us too. For some reason one of our retirement accounts never gets the dividends forms out on time, and they are not available online, or at least haven't been in the past. We are lucky if we get them in late March or early April.

We finally got all of our documents and were able to file tonight...and we don't owe money! Whew. I was so worried because we increased our income by 25% last year and jumped a tax bracket. But with charitable contributions, mortgage interest and student loan interest, we actually hit the itemized deduction for the first time. So we are getting $2,300 back.

Our goal has always been to break even or get a small return (usually around $300-$400). I know some people don't think you should get a large return, and normally we don't, but I am sooooo happy we don't owe.

That is unacceptably late, especially if it happens every year.  Have you ever reported the missing forms to the IRS?  That would annoy me enough to transfer my money to another company too.

We have the same issue with Vanguard every year for our tax forms. They never send them out in a timely manner.

Weird. I have never had that problem with Vanguard. I was able to file at the end of January. Do you get some weird form?

@smerka: No, we just have ROTH IRAs with Vanguard. We are signed up for e-forms, but did not get any forms via mail, email or the electronic login until this month.

  • Should we be getting forms from our retirement accounts? all ours are through work, and I've never gotten any tax forms

formerlyGDaisy09: I never get forms for my 401k through work because it gets reported on my W2. But we get a statement of contributions from Vanguard for our Roth IRAs.

  • If you are talking about the 5498, you don't need that to file. You can get the IRA value from the end of the year from your year end statement. I usually make my IRA contribution in the beginning of the next year and get my 5498 in early summer. But I don't have amend my return either. That scenario only applies if you are making contributions and taking no distributions.
