Thirsty Thursday Randoms

Morning Ladies!

Did everyone enjoy the lovely weather yesterday?  How is your week treating you thus far?

Chicago Blackhawks are Stanley Cup Champs!  I stayed up late (for me) to watch them win and a bit of the postgame celebration.  I'm so glad to see that organization turned around.

Re: Thirsty Thursday Randoms

  • Morning :)

I was sick in bed yesterday so I couldn't enjoy the nice weather until the evening when DH and I went for a short walk.  I'm feeling much better today though!  I think I just ate something wrong.

Today I am leaving for a summer internship in Ontario (Toronto area).  I am going to miss DH so much!  I'll be gone for 5 weeks and then he is going to come to Ontario and we're gong camping for a few days with my parents.

    Yes  Party!!!

That made my H a very happy camper last night and this morning.

I am so tired, but I had a blast with my teammates after the game.  And during the game I guess.  It was one of our closests games yet and we had a yummy cookout with lots of beer after the game.  Big Smile

  • Jillian - Glad you are feeling better!  5 weeks in Toronto sounds awesome, but it would be hard to be away from H for so long.  Good Luck!

D&M - I'm glad you had a close game, did you get the W?

  • Morning to you too!

I'm as thrilled to see Chicago win as well Juli. Party!!!

Jill: What is the internship for, if I can ask. 5 weeks will fly by once you get there.

I've made it to the Y 3 times this week and I'm thinking about going back again today. Yesterday however, the fire alarm went off twice. The first time I was on the treadmill and looked around and didn't see the employee's make any movement to get us out of there. The second time I was changing in the locker room. DH was there swimming and the lifeguards pulled them from the pool and they had to wait outside. I think either some kids pulled a alarm or it just freaked out on its own.Confused

    No, we got this:

Bummer - but it sound like you got the W in Afterparty Awesomeness.  So what beers are you digging lately?

Deeder - Sorry you had to deal with punks pulling alarms.

  • Someone shot one of the windows at my workplace last night with a BB gun.

I'm looking out the window at a lovely "bullet" hole and cracked window.  Klassy.

Yikes.  That stinks.  Punks all over the place.

How was your wine last night?  BTW - I'm currently reading the Deep End of the Ocean - have you read it?

When I want to get drunk, pretty much anything.  I've had BL, BLL, Miller Chill, PBR, Busch - and maybe a few other kinds lately.

When I want to relax and have a beer or two I go for a Leinenkugel.  I'm loving Summer Shandy and Berry Weiss.

I used to be a strictly liquor drinker.  But when I was BF and wanted to go out, I had a beer or two (since it was supposed to help produce or whatever) and I've been hooked ever since.  Haven't had liquor in over a year.

  • We're still in ATL until Saturday. Weather has been warm, with a few rain showers here and there. Today is laundry day so I'm not bringing 2 weeks' worth of dirty clothes home. Oh, but mostly because I ran out of underwear! :0 Duh.

My wine was great.  We had the better part of a bottle of Palo Alto Reserva Red from Chile.  The weather was perfect.  We sat on the deck for about an hour and let the cat wander.  It was just a beautiful, beautiful evening to be in West Michigan.  I have to say that I'm so very happy we're here and not in Cali.

  • Juli, I have read The Deep End of the Ocean.  In fact, I might own it.  I really loved it, so much better than the movie.  IMO, it is the author's best work (I've read a few of her other books, too).

I really like the Summer Shandy - such a good evening on the patio beer. :-)

I still have mixed drinks from time to time - mainly because we have an s-ton of liquor that people leave at our house after parties and I figure it needs to be drank sometime.

I've really been enjoying it, I'm maybe 2/3 through?  It's kept my interest and I like the style - it moves along quickly.

I've decided I just need to take plane rides in order to get me started reading books.  I love reading but apparently I need to be forced into a situation where I can't do anything else to get started.

  • Molly, you should hit up Old Boys in Spring Lake for some of their beer.  Nothing beets a summer night on the channel, drinking a brew.

How crazy that you were *this* close to moving there.

I know so very little about wine, I'd like to be more informed.  This event peeked my interest but we haven't decided where we'll be that weekend yet.  It looks like fun.

Yes - I had their stout the other weekend and it was DELICIOUS.  We visited that and the Grand Haven brewery for our anniversary - I will let you know next time we make it out there if you wanna join.  Odd Side Ales (the GH one) had some decent brews.

Plane rides are the best for reading.  I think the author does a great job of making the reader feel what the family is going through.  The story just grabbed me.

You might also like The Hours by Michael Cunningham.  It is a million times better than the movie, although after reading the book I kind of want to give the movie another chance.  The book is fairly short and I found it to be a pretty quick read.  I read it on the plane from NOLA to Sacto last September.

I am the same way.  I love it, but getting started is so hard.

Yeah, we both think a lot about how close we came to moving.  It's weird for L to think like that because he is a very "in the moment" guy.  It is crazy how different our lives might be.

About that event, Weko Beach is my old beach!  I grew up down in that area and that's where we would always go.  It sounds really cool.  We were actually thinking about going down to Berrien Springs next Saturday, so maybe I can talk L into going.  Hmm...

Sounds nice!  I've always imagined Atlanta to be unbearably hot, but I've never actually been there.  I just picture everything south of Kentucky as being hot and humid.

I will add that to my list.  I haven't seen either movies since I average seeing about 4 movies a year.  Which also kind of stinks, because I really like movies.  I don't know what the hell I waste my time but I'd like to integrate more books and movies into it. :-P

Sure- I am going to be working at a local church doing lots of things but mainly working with two day camps: one for children and one for developmentally impaired adults (like with Down's Syndrome or William's Syndrome etc).  I am going to be REALLY busy so I hope it flies by!

Did anyone come get you when you were in the locker room?   I have had the worst luck in my life with fire alarms going off at the wrong times- 3 times when I was sleeping at college, once when I was getting out of the shower in an apartment building, and twice when I was at a playgroup with little kids... with no shoes or coats in the middle of winter!  haha.

I love how things can become *yours*.  Like my town, my bar, etc.

They are closing the plant outside of LA, and Andy had considered doing a 2 year stint there.  Now they are opening up a plant in Trout Lake, Washington, but not for like 3 years yet.  If he had the opportunity to do a stint out there, I would LOVE to go.  I always kind of regretted that we never had the chance to move away somewhere for a few years - but I'm very thankful for our jobs close to home.

  • Hello.

Last night, I spent the evening watching my husband's softball game.  It was his first game of the season.  Watching him made me want to play.  However, he's current playing on his company team, and there are no spouses allowed.  That's probably for the best though.  I'd probably totally suck.  I haven't played softball in 10 years.

We bought Summer Shandy last week.  Yummy.

I found out a couple of days ago that my grandma and step-grandpa will be staying with us tomorrow night on their way to Minnesota.  Indifferent  That's cool, and I'm excited that they're going to be visiting, but I'm kind of nervous to host them.  My grandma has only been to my house once, for a few hours during our housewarming party four years ago.  I have to go home and scrub my house tonight.  Also, I have to figure out what to cook them for dinner.  Also, I'm not entirely sure how to entertain them.  Eek.

Oh no I'm so sorry. :-(

  • Morning ladies! It's been awhile, but I actually have a morning of free time! Woot! Loving all the beer/wine talks. Yesterday was gorgeous and today looks like it's going to be the same. Rex and I headed to Grand Haven last night to celebrate and walk the pier, it was an amazing sunset. We sat out on the deck at Snug Harbor drinking wine and Summer Shandy, it was great. I just love the big lake. Sigh. Can't mess with perfection.

I was also happy to see the Blackhawks win, I was really pulling for them. Smile

So...my MSU fans, are you on edge about these CLE rumors for Izzo? I'm so worried.

We are SERIOUSLY considering getting a DSLR before our Ireland trip.  I'm jealous. :-P
