Re: Thirsty Thursday Randoms
No spouses on the company team? Lame (Capital L). I suck too, but it's still fun to play. :-)
Have fun with the grandparents - maybe there's a *safe* movie you could rent or you could play an old board game?
He has to decide if he wants to be an NBA coach EVER or not. If he thinks it's something he wants to pursue, he should do it now - Although obviously I would probably cry. I personally don't think his style would fit in the NBA, because he's all about heart and passion and NBA players don't have near the heart that college players have. Plus, he's such a *coach* and NBA players are cocky and not as coachable. I'm trying to think of another generalization I can give to NBA players to further insult them but I'm stuck at the moment.
But seriously - Izzo, don't go!!!!!
Hi LST! I volunteered you to be in a writing group with Kasa and me when we do Nanowrimo this November
Last night was a perfect night to be in GH. L didn't feel like driving down, so we enjoyed our deck instead. It would have been funny if we had run into you!
I am nervous about the CLE/Izzo rumors! I would much rather see Izzo coach the Pistons if he is going NBA. Not the Cavs, man!
This would be my first thought if my grandparents announced a visit. In fact, L's grandpa once visited our house while I was at work and L didn't make our bed that morning (he was the last to leave) and we had an epic fight about it.
I think Juli's suggestion of a board game is a good one. I hope their visit is a good one!
Happy Birthday XN! Hope he likes the mixer. :-)
We just got one a month or two ago. My husband has been talking about getting one for awhile, but we decided to get one this year in anticipation for our big, beautiful, scenic, still-totally-unplanned vacation for this fall.
I predict that there will be some dominos in my near future. They love dominos.
Ha ha, you'll figure it out. What did you end up choosing? Andy has been the researcher on this front and last I knew he was leaning toward a Rebel.
"...when we do Nanowrimo..." -- Haha! I didn't realize that I'd agreed to do this.
It is a beautiful morning!
Happy Birthday to XN!
Happy birthday to him!
We got this Pentex. My husband was in charge of this project, too, and he did a ton of research. He narrowed it down to a Canon and the Pentex. I don't remember exactly why he chose the Pentex now, but there were a few factors that made it more appealing to him.
I hounded Rex for DSLR last night, my little point and shoot wasn't cutting it with the amazing sunset. I'm sure when I finally convince him, I'll be taking recommendations.
And I'm totally up for NaNoWriMo this year, it really helps to have someone cheering you on, you guys knowwww you want to do it.
Kasa-I love dominos, but would be so nervous to be hosting grandparents. I take it no vacation destination has been secured yet? What about Northern Cali/Oregon/Washington? I don't know what the weather's like in the fall, but that area is one of my favorites.
Have fun! Work always seems to get in the way, but I'm sure the celebrating will be worth the wait.
This is my biggest thing too. He is able to do amazing things with the team because the players respect him and have that passion, I can't imagine him being as successful in the NBA. I hope he turns it down and holds a press conference saying he'll never leave NCAA ball. I've always seen him like coach K for Duke, it would really suck to have him leave.
Nope. We've tentatively narrowed it down to CA, AZ, or maybe HI.
My H is dead-set on going somewhere with warm/hot weather and adequate beach/pool time. I refuse to go anywhere where it's the hurricane/rainy season. Sooo... we don't seem to have a lot of choices.
We're leaning toward Arizona though based in part on CA perhaps not being terribly relaxing and HI being such a long ass flight.
We're probably the most indecisive people EVER.
If it's the fall isn't the rainy season done? I though it ended in like September, but I could very well be wrong.
I can't help you narrow down, because we've never been to any of those places and they are all on our list of places we want to go. Wait, we've been to CA so I guess I can tell you Yosemite and San Fran are amazing.
at least it was a BB gun. a couple of years ago someone did that to my office with a 45
Laura do you still bring your gun to work?
We looked into it, but honestly, I think I'd be bored. I require a lot of activities on vacation and I'm really not one to be able to simply relax on a beach all day every day. It didn't look to me like there was a whole lot to do on Aruba besides the beach.
So we're looking for destinations where we can combine my husband's requirement of ample beach(or pool)/relaxing time and my requirement for ample activities.
Did anyone see the episode of Modern Family where they were in Hawaii? My H and I are like Cam and Mitchell.
It goes through November in most of the Caribbean.
Oh my gosh, just reading the names "Cam and Mitchell" made me giggle. I LOVE THAT SHOW!
Ha ha, yes! Love that show.
Weird. We could have easily spent two weeks there. It was such a blast.
Not so much this time of year because it's light coming and going. I probably should though. Most of the other office spaces are empty. Our parking lot used to be full, and now it's just my firm, and the Jewish office left. We're moving to a much nicer office space in December/January.
The shooter was actually a terminated employee, he came back in the middle of the night and shot out the windows. He's not a citizen, so he'll be deported once his jail time is up.
So, the other week we went to Andy's parents house. We went into the backyard, since they didn't answer the front door. I saw 3 ducks waddling around.
"Um, honey? Does your mom have ducks now?"
Andy just sighed and shook his head.
Then we went to her greenhouse, opened it up, and saw 10 chickens and 5 turkeys. Mind you she lives in the city and this is completely illegal.
She had a reason for it all of course. "Well, we found the ducks at school and they didn't have their mom and we hatched the chickens at school and the turkey were being sold for only $1 which is a great deal so I HAD to buy some. Can you raise turkeys at your place? I need to find them a home somewhere."
She seriously needs to go back to living on a farm. But at least right now we have a freshly butchered greenhouse chicken in our fridge to feast on this weekend.
