Re: Monday randoms

  • Hi!  My weekend was busy, but good.  We had a good time visiting the nephews.  I ran just over 5 miles last night, so that was kind of exciting.

Today I've been cleaning up my desk at work--hopefully in anticipation, but no news yet.

  • Weekend was ok. Felt like crap last night. Was in a rush and moody this morning. Mike won't listen to me re: his car repair. I want to rip people's heads off today. Thank god I have a dr's appt today after to check on med levels. Thank god.

    Sounds like a great weekend.

Good luck on the job front!

  • Germany won their game in the World Cup this morning - yeah!

  • Weekend went fast. Got home from ATL Saturday. Had a wedding shower 2hr away on Sunday. That blew the whole day.

I cleaned the kitchen sink today. With a teeny tiny scrub brush. I love having a sparkling clean house, but I really suck at getting it that way. It's my goal to get better about that and not Nest so much in my spare time...

  • Morning ladies!

    Des&Molly- 5 months already? Wow! :)

Suze- Awesome on the 5 miles

Charity- Glad they got the win, I'll be your husband is happy.

Katers- It definitely feels good to deep clean the house, but I agree, such a pain to do.

Our weekend was pure laziness, we decided on whim to head to the cabin. The weather was overcast and blah, but we took it as a chance to do absolutely nothing. Movies, puzzles, reading, it was heaven. Plus, I got out of a speeding ticket, which was the cherry on the top of the weekend.

  • Hi.  My weekend was kinda okay.  It had fun elements, but for the most part it was a lot of cleaning and went to quickly.

I had a dream last night that I had a baby girl.  She was kidnapped by a gas station attendant.  Then when I got her back, I was breast feeding and the kid kept drinking me dry!

Does that really happen?  Can you "dry up" while breastfeeding?

  • Happy 5 Months T!

Good luck on the job SUZE and yay for a good run!

LST - How'd you get out of the ticket?

This weekend was great.  I got a bunch done on Friday, then we accidentally went on a mini-brewery tour that night.  Saturday I did a charity dog walk w/my Mama and we hung out with friends, then Sunday we went to Yappy Hour at HopCat and checked out the chalk flood and relaxed w/friends on our deck playing cornhole - eating smoked greenhouse chicken with some brews.

I really have no clue. Maybe brutal honesty? I fessed right up to speeding. Rex was trying hard not to crack up in the passenger seat. I was pretty blunt about it. Maybe because I'm a girl? (Rex's theory, though I did not cry, which shocked me) Possibly because I have nothing on my record? Most likely luck...and the officer was a hottie. Angel

How was Yappy Hour? Lots of pups?

    That's awesome.

Yappy Hour was good!  We went there right at the start because we had to get home, so there were only 3 pups there.  It was a good deal though and I'm sure we'll do it again. :-)

  • We had a nice and fairly low-key weekend.  Friday evening with my grandparents went well.  We just ate dinner and then sat around, watched the Tigers, and chatted.

It was actually my grandma and step-grandpa.  My step-grandpa has a grandson who is a star college baseball player and just this week he was drafted, actually.  But my grandparents follow his baseball career very closely, watch all his games online, and know all his stats, as well as the stats of most of the other players on the team.  We heard a lot about him and his team (they were playing in playoffs this weekend).  It's kind of cute how into it they are.

I'm not exactly sure where your cabin is, but do you drive into/through Alcona County?  Just wondering if that's where you got pulled over.  I've gotten a ticket in Alcona, my brother has, a couple of my cousins have, some friends have.  I've never heard of anyone getting out of a ticket in Alcona though, so maybe that's not where you were.

Beware to anyone who drives through Alcona County!  They freaking love to pull people over and dole out tickets.  Mind your speed.

That is very cute.  I can just picture a cute old couple in the stands rooting on their grandson. :-)

Glad it went well entertaining them!

    Ditto Juli.

  • My husband was downtown for something this morning and I took an early lunch -- from 11:00-12:00 -- so I could have lunch with him before he went back to work.  I'm afraid I'm in for a loooooong afternoon now, though, since I took such an early lunch.

Awww, that's fun though. :-)  I have rarely met my H for lunch since I don't normally take lunch breaks - but it's always a nice treat.

It was nice.  Smile  We don't get to do that much -- probably just a couple of times a year.

Very occasionly Brian will have court in the town where I work, however murphy's law always kick in and it is either a day I don't work, have a meeting, he has another hearing somewhere else right after that one, or last time both girls and I had a bad cold so I had to call in.

It has been years since I have had lunch with him.

  • I am beyond tired today! I didn't sleep well last night. The plan is to go to bed early as possible, however like most nights I will probably get a second wind and end up going to bed closer to 11. I think what I might do is as soon as I put the girls to bed at 8pm, is change into PJ, get and bed and read for a while. If I come downstairs I will get distracted with stuff.

Same here, only minus the second wind. We are up 'til 11 (or later!) every.single.night and I hate it. We just get distracted by work, housework, crappy TV, you name it. I wish I had the discipline to lay in bed and read, lol!

  • Has anyone read Mistaken Identity, the story of the Taylor accident victims who were mixed up in the hospital?

My grandma is insisting that I read it.  I told her that I didn't need to read it because I've read a ton of news coverage about the story, plus I've seen their special on TV.  She ignored me, handed me the book and told me to read it and be ready to discuss it 4th of July weekend.

    "Yes, grandma."

I haven't read it, but Indifferent at "be ready to discuss over July 4th."  I'm sure it's cool because it's your grandma, but I don't take kindly to deadlines like that.  I think you handled it well (and much better than I would have).

  • Speaking of the 4th of July, I think we are retiring the hot dog eating contest but want to have another eating contest.  We are considering pie.

Any other ideas?  I think pie would be fun just for the humor of eating a pie w/o your hands.

I think it would be fun to watch people stuff their faces with frosted cupcakes.

    How about strawberry shortcake?

  • So...I'm being bad and nesting at work!

Kasa- It wasn't that county, but it was on M-72, and we've seen SO many cops up there lately, I should have been paying better attention. Your grandparents sound cute, glad everything worked out great.

Juli- Pies or cupcakes sound awesome. The only other thing I could think of was ice cream...but it's not really quantifiable...

  • Oooh! Or popsicles!

    Pie would be hilarious!

Watermelon seems like a July 4th kind of food.
