At least your hotel was in Dublin, Christin. We got a free room in Harrah's  Las Vegas for part of a vacation a few years ago. The a/c automatically went off whenever we left the room and nothing we tried to trick it worked. They claimed that it didn't take long to cool off but it sucked coming in from the heat and having to wait.

    How did it know?

  • Apparently we didn't quite figure out how because we couldn't trick it. The H tried to put stuff over what he thought was the sensor but it still would turn off. It didn't turn off when we were sleeping though.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • UPDATE--whining works! It's in!
I didn't have AC growing up. Sometimes my dad would put the window units in but not every year.

  • Congrats on your victory!

I did and I am not looking forward to it.  Damn people complaining about the weather not being hot enough!  We have no A/C, so I am grateful I have a basement to retreat to.  I'm guessing my bedroom is going to be wicked hot.  We'll probably end up sleeping downstairs.

Seriously, this is payback for all the bitchhing and moaning I saw on facebook - "waaah wahh do we not even get a suuuummer this year? boo hoo, more raaaaaain." Since when does summer ever really begin before 4th of July in the NW anyway?!

And yeah, ditto buddha. My house achieves perfect temperature control every minute of the day. Come to me!

  • But you have the scorpions!

  • This should jinx me real good, but I haven't seen ONE yet this summer. ::cue scorpions::

  • People keep giving me pitying looks about how hot SC is. People, the south knows air conditioning.

  • This reminds me, I noticed there were no pools open in New York or Boston while I was there.  I thought everyone opened them from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

  • Ontario knows air conditioning, too.   It's going to be 109.4 today with the humidex.

  • I don't think I've ever lived anywhere without a/c.  I absolutely cannot sleep when hot.  Of course, our a/c is crappy, so our bdrms only get down to about 74-75.  Not ideal by any stretch, but it'll do.

I think Mabel might be mentally challenged.  I'll have to test her when I get home tonight to be sure, but judging from the way she barks every time a doorbell rings on tv, I think I know how the test will end.

  • I am glad your whining worked, I wouldshoot E without a/c in our house.  It was 105 yesterday without counting the humidity.  Right now it is already 98 degrees.
