Re: you know who bugs me?

  • Well, her comments combined with her penchant for giant bows scream "pageant mom".

    Hi, Babbs, you big nut!

    Holyshit! That didn't take long!

  • Winged - I believe you have questioned my mothering skills in the past because of how I have told a story (I can't remember exactly - something to do with my devil niece - telling me I was a jackass for not caring more about the well being of my kid when around her).

You are going soft if you are giving Babbs a free pass on this.

Disclaimer - I can't actually access Babbs' blog, so I don't actually know what her comments were.

    Actually.

Those kids are cute, but are they always in matching outfits?

It's how you know they are identical and identical makes them more specialer and by proxy, makes her more specialer too.

how is not protecting your child from someone who is repeatedly aggressive around them the same as saying your kid has her dad's big ears?

hezz, i am not understanding your reaction.

    It's the weirdass call out.
I mean, if we're just using the CGT thing as an example, you guys can't tell me if we stumbled across this on some local board we wouldn't mock this into oblivion. Are you kidding me?

    And, futhermore, Susan...
I think you're bored and I get it. You're (for a lack of a better term) stuck in your house now because of your kid and look to the board as a source of entertainment more than ever. I get that feeling of watching the screen crawl all day...  We hated on Amy#s for moving on, we've hated on Fent for ditching us during election time. They're awesome and we miss their contributions...  But this weird anger towards her and "deeming her a lurker" is weirdly high and mighty and it's making me c*ck an eyebrow.

Man, for a second I thought Hezz was talking to me, and I got all excited like I did in HS when the cute boy was coming over to talk to me. But just like in HS, Hezz just wanted to talk to the prettier, cooler girl sitting behind me. I'm going to go eat my lunch in the bathroom and cry.

  • I have never not protected my kid for anything or anybody.  I still do not let that little girl near my kid for three seconds without intervening.

I'm just saying that you are standing up for Babbs now, when I don't think you necessarily would in the past.  Perhaps I am wrong.

i am not saying you are not protecting your kid. I am saying that was the issue being debated. I have said in the past when babbs was doing something stupid, just like anyone else. I just don't think this is. We talk about Ryker getting his moodiness from my dad, so i am guilty of the same crime.

I think focusing so much on your child's (especially daughter's) looks, or your perception of their flaws, is incredibly unhealthy and destructive.

There's a distinct difference between joking about inheriting personality trait and Babbs' obession with the way those girls look--their hair color, their photogenicness(?) and lack thereof, their big ears.  How long befire they are entered in their first pageant?

And you have developed a soft spot for Babbs.

  • I know it's frowned upon around here to discuss babies looks, but I will have to be the odd man out on this one and say that they are not cute at all.  Neither are their clothes/bows.  Also Babbs hips have gotten mighty large.

Dit-TOE. Never too early to give your kid a complex.

I think you're stretching on her "obsession".  She dyed her hair to match her kids.  Weird, yes, nothing to do to change her children's looks.  She said her one kid wasn't as photogenic.  Weird, maybe to some, I think she just wanted to point out that the kid is way cuter in person.  My kid is, too, so I get it.

  • I don't think the ears thing is that bad.  I guess I'm the only one who thought the paragraph about other bloggers who "whine" about motherhood was rather surprising, given that Babbs said here in the past that she experienced some major lows since giving birth.

I think there are a lot of little things that would not even register by themselves but when added together equal a red flag. I'm not even touching the Babbs is BSC argument, but I do think that she is heading down a path that could cause self esteem issues for those girls. If she is typing these comments on a blog and internet forums, is it a stretch to assume she'll be saying them in front of the girls one day?

Edit: I can't access the blog and have no idea what she actually said about the ears.

If you want to be friends with Eville, you have to have small hips and no labia cysts.  Those are just the rules, jens.

It is also frowned among most to knowingly date married men but that didn't stop you. I guess you are just a crazy rule breaker.

  • i don't know if it is a soft spot, fallin. i just don't see this the same way. I have stated disagreements in the past, but i am not going to flame her for something i would not flame anyone else for.

I suppose that those are not unreasonable requests. I'll also start announcing pregnancy scares every few weeks.

Don't let that stop you.  It hasn't stopped anyone else.  I'm sure it's just seen as me defending my buddy, but I do find it ridiculous the amount of dissecting people do to stuff they didn't even witness.  Like the people who talk about the less photogenic comment.  Only a few people saw what was actually said before it got deleted.  Everyone else just goes off of the interpretation of a couple people who did.  Same with something else that is totally slipping my mind.

(BTW, I hope by quoting you it doesn't seem like I'm singling you out.  I'm just talking about the board as a whole and won't even pretend that I'm not guilty of it myself.)

  • i can appreciate eville's honestly.. is it a little below the belt? Suuure. But babbs was certainly known to dish it out back in the day, so BFD.

her whole fascination/obsession with her children's looks is f'ing strange and I dare say, I bit unhealthy. I can  totally see her on toddler's & tiaras in 2 yrs.

and niice move making the blog private. didn't take long at all !
