Re: complaints/randoms/anything

  • This change in the weather and all the fun things coming up in the next few months has me extra chipper. Last night I spent 20 minutes standing at our kitchen window drinking a glass of wine, feeling the cool air and smelling/listening to the rain. My H thought that was weird.

ME TOO. I freaking ADORE fall. We're going apple picking tomorrow at some place that has a winery and a hard cider-y. And DONUTS.

Plus from what I gather, you're super happy about your own situation lately with the teaching and stuff and that might be hard for him to take, even on a subconscious level.

You know, that had not even occurred to me, but you are probably right. I do really love what I'm doing now, and that has to be hard when he's so miserable.

I'm sure it's all being compounded by the stress of having a baby and just disrupting everything too.

We'll be fine. I just wish there was something I could do to help him.

  • Miles is 4 months younger than Ian, and just as big as him.  Ian was also slow to take to table food.  He was about 11 months old before he'd eat it with gusto -- I think the trick was to keep offering it to him before purees, even if he'd just move it around.

Now he's eating with a fork (sometimes) and more interested in a regular cup than a sippy cup.

  • Sorry Buddha. That has to be really frustrating. I hate when D is miserable about work.

tomorrow I am getting my eyelashes tinted for the first time.  I'm excited for that.  And an hour massage.  heaven.

Do you have blonde eyelashes?  You'll LOVE it!

It's kind of uncomfortable, especially if they don't use the natural tint (I go to an Aveda salon and it's not bad, but I've had one that was a little stingy before).  The main thing is that it kind of feels weird to keep my eyes shut that long with the protectors on.  The results are awesome, though!

It is a natural vegetable pigment and it's supposed to last 4-8 weeks.  My eyelashes are so blonde they are nonexistent w/o mascara.

at first when I read your description I thought you said it was weird to keep your eyes OPEN that long as I was picturing the scene from Clockwork Orange and kind of freaking out.  Then I reread and saw that it was eyes CLOSED.  I can totally do that.  Zzzzzzzzz.  hahaha

me THREE!!!!  I loooooove the change in weather and the smell of fresh cool air.  We've had our windows open all week and the house smells so fresh now and I'm sleeping really good.  I love fall foods and fall smells and fall weather.  FALLLLL.

Yeah, the vegetable dye is great.  It's not bad, I just feel the urge to blink because they put these little shields under your eyelashes that feel weird.  After a couple of minutes I'm fine, and I've fallen asleep before!

It would be a nightmare to have to keep my eyes open that long with that stuff on them!  You'll love it, seriously.  It's so great to look in the mirror when I wake up and actually have eyelashes.

  • I'm also super excited that I'll be home during the entire fall season this year.  I can go for walks during the day, go to pumpkin patches with CM and Car, etc.  Sure I'll be dragging around a newborn, but whatev.  Old ladies will probably think I'm a horrible mother giving my kid all that risky public exposure.

  • Audrey ... Just saw your post! Yay for interviews for jobs you actually want! I'll be vibing hard for you!

  • Buddha, I think Zane and I are in the same boat.  I'm cranky for no reason at home because I'm hating on my job, and I'm very aware of the fact that I'm miserable and that Jimmy has nothing to do with it, but I just can't shake it, and there's really nowhere to go (job-wise) right now.

My only advice is to encourage him to keep looking for something else, or help him find something to feel good about.  I love Jimmy, but he's my constant, and not something that I'm doing that makes me feel like I'm contributing to my own happiness.  Lately I've been hitting the gym and watching what I eat.  It's something small, but I feel like I'm in control of that one aspect of my life and that makes me feel good.  I'm not sure if you can push him into that, though.  Without being all "get thee to the gym fatass."

  • Fall is my favorite.  I love fall.  I like wearing jeans everyday and the leaves changing and warming up with some cider or some hearty comfort food.

What I do not love is that right now the A/C is blasting on me (as usual) and it smells vaguely like sour milk.  It's disgusting.

we've been hanging out a little bit here and there.  Car really is SUCH a freaking joy to be around and I love him sooooo much that I look forward to seeing them.  she's also been a lot happier since she's been home and collecting unemployment from the state so that she can be a SAHM.

and Fent, having increased hunger was one of the first tip-offs that I had something inhabiting my womb . . . just sayin' . . .

Holy crap, my kid is 12 months adjusted and is nowhere near able to use a fork.  She'll feed herself little bites of stuff, but utensils are for pounding on the highchair tray, not eating.  Of course, she just got her 2nd tooth and only weighs 16 pounds, so she's behind anyway.

Buddha, I'm sorry about Zane's stress.  Can he start looking for another job, just to see what's out there?

  • This board does not make me sad.  It's not as exciting as it used to be, but I like that I can go to other boards for entertainment and this place is pretty much filled with people I like.  And sometimes Toot.

I don't find ML as entertaining as SB or AFB or NEY were in their heyday, but there's enough going on to at least be interesting.  I'm still trying to get a read on some of the regs.  I'm hot and cold with a few, and I'm having a hard time keeping track of who's who.

  • Fall is the best time of the year.

Good luck to those job hunting.

Buddha- Does Zane know how you feel? I have been really unhappy with work this summer and my H kindly pointed out how different I had been lately and asked if there was anything he could do for me. Until he brought it up I had no idea how much work was affecting my personality.

My grandmother was just diagnosed with cancer. But my other grandmother already has cancer. So does my aunt. There should be a limit to how many family members can have it at the same time.

  • My face has erupted in a mass breakout, including one huge spot on my neck that looks like a hickey.  Since breakouts are rare for me and hickeys nonexistent, I'm displeased.

I love fall too, but I suspect it does happen here until at least October.  Oddly though, people seem to have deserted the pool as soon as the calendar hit September, despit it still being in the mid-90s.

    image
  • My complaint is that I am only allowed to shower every 3rd day. Do you have any idea how gross that is? Today is a shower day and they put me on the monitors so late I haven't been able to get in there yet.
    imageimage
  • For the first time in forever, I have no appointments or meetings on my calendar.  Which means I should be able to get a lot of work done, but I've been here for an hour and all I've done is drink a latte, eat a scone and catch up with FB and you folks.

I have also been posting a bit on ML and have contracted a mild case of "lol."  I hope there is a cure.

  • I miss fall.  I miss seasons.  I wouldn't be getting fall yet back home, but here it's almost non-existent.

  • Audrey, I should add that he doesn't eat with a fork well.  Often he'll spear the food, then pick it off with his fingers, but he does a passable job at getting it in his mouth when he's so inclined.

Yeah, we have talked about it before. It seems to be cyclical. We'll talk. It will be better for a while, and then it all starts again. I'm just crossing my fingers that he somehow finds a job soon.

  • Zane should follow the advice of SB's mom and quit his job, get rid of any owl paraphernalia, etc.

You know what?!? We do have owls in the nursery and no the bouncer. He got more stressed when those things came into the house. Coincidence? I think not.

I am a little disturbed with how quickly all these babies are growing. Using forks and whatnot, that is crazy talk. I feel like they were just born.
