Hot date tonight!

Hopefully!! I was talking to him last night and he said he felt like he was getting sick, so he BETTER not be sick tonight! He's coming over to my house and we're gonna have dinner and watch a movie. Dakota was very good last time he was over so hopefully she continues that trend!  I'm thinking of cooking dinner cuz he always takes me out and pays so I want to contribute! I have no idea what to make though!?! I know he doesn't like seafood. And he's lactose intolerant but still eats dairy haha. So something chickeny. My only grand idea was chicken parmesan, cuz it doesn't have THAT much cheese on it (right?) but then I have no idea what veggies to have with it. Or pasta? Does pasta go with that? Man I need to cook more.

  • Spaghetti with chicken parm.... and garlic bread.

  • Pasta with red sauce. :) What I do is cook the pasta and then warm up a can or two of Italian diced tomatoes. I dump those on top. Buy some bagged salad to put on the side and get a loaf of Italian bread. If you want to be klassy, you could get a bottle of wine, too.

Garlic? C'mon, girls! What if they want to make out after dinner?!

  • That's what the wine is for!!!  If they get hammered, they won't realize that their breaths could ward off vampires!!

I thought the wine was to kill any of the potential germs so Hayley doesn't catch the bug while they make out.

  • Here's a really easy and great chicken parmesean recipe!

I suggest this to. Its great and you don't have to use cheese.

  • Yes to the chicken parm! Serve it over spaghetti with garlic bread on the side.  Add a side salad and you have a complete meal. And wine - definately a nice red wine.

Dessert - something chocolatey! Brownies would be simple...

It will be fine because they both had garlic bread!! Also, I always serve salad with Italian food!

  • Hahahaha you guys are funny. He doesn't drink wine, and I don't like reds, so that's out!

Oh well might be a moot point cuz he just told me he has a fever! Grrrr.

  • Well, you don't HAVE to drink red wine!!  I've never been one to match my wine with what I'm having for dinner.  I drink whatever I want with whatever meal I happen to choose.

Sucks about the fever though.  Maybe he can still come over and you can make him some soup or something?  Or make some and then bring it to him?

You can drink beer with Italian food. I've done it. Smile Put it in a nice glass instead of a can, and walla!

Too bad about him being sick. Looks like a raincheck date to me. I can't imagine wanting to be on a date if I had a fever. Hope he gets better soon!

  • Yeah, if he's sick I like the soup idea.

This looks like a good recipe. You'll get major brownie points for being sweet and making it and then it's his turn to buy again lol.

  • Haha I was thinking soup would be good! I can't bring it to him though, he lives an hour away and he has to stop by his parents house today which is pretty close to my house, so he'll already be like 20 minutes away. He's just worried about getting me sick, I told him I have an awesome immune system (which I do, thankyouverymuch!) and I will make him homemade soup, so we'll see what happens!

  • I made soup the other night and it turned out great. Just use the recipe on the back of a box of swanson broth. Its called Sensational Chicken Soup, or something like that. That soup with a grilled cheese sandwhich is awsome. We're actually having leftovers tonight.

  • Awww well after all my excitement about cooking he's got a fever of 101.6 and is really not feeling well soooo he's not coming. I don't blame him! We have plans for Saturday anyway, so hopefully he is feeling better by then :)

  • You want him at 100% when he comes over to the house so he can really enjoy himself with you. Sorry for the cancel but hey he will feel bad and make it up to you!
  • Yeah saturday we are having a slumber party ;) So it'll be fun. He better be feelin better by then! Or I'll be sad.

  • That stinks that he has a fever but the homemade soup idea is a good one.

I'm super late jumping in here, but going way back to one of the early posts about whether or not to serve the cheese, definitely DON'T do the cheese if he's lactose intolerant.

It usually makes them flatulent. You don't want any part of that...especially if you're having a slumber party!  Devil Rrrrrro-o-o-o-wwww

  • Haha well on Saturday I won't be cooking, we always have slumber parties at his house. And they are very innocent slumber parties! Hah we've had like three already. Just lots of cuddling :)
