  • 1 BM dress = $99

1 pair Spanx to make dress look somewhat ok on = $40

1 new strapless bra to put the boobs back where they belong = $50

1 new pair of shoes to match said dress and make my legs look thinner = $60

Alterations to actually put dress where it belongs = $60

Tanning/Spray tan to look better in a gold dress = $50

Probably still not liking the way I look in the dress = $359

On another note, I get a little annoyed at how people put Women's Hosptal out there to be closely compared to a torture chamber.  FYI - people do have good birth experiences there!  I just think that the few bad ones are so highly talked about that nobody cares about the good experiences.

That's why I've stopped responding to those threads.  I had a good experience there and would recommend it in a heartbeat, but my good story isn't nearly as sensational as the few who vilify it so it's not noticed.  I felt like I was fighting a losing battle.

    agreed

    +1

And the latest isn't even a story of a bad birth. The person who is so horrified is still pregnant. Annoying to no end.

LOL. Ditto. I am irrationally annoyed by the fact that she doesn't want to birth "laying down" and that's her reason for wanting a new hospital. I mean....seriously!?!?! You are THAT picky about the exact position you're in when you deliver that you'd risk yours and your baby's health by switching doctors and hospitals at the last minute??!? Maybe I am extremely liberal about "birth plans" but that just seems ridic to care THAT much about such a small thing. I get the whole drugs/no drugs.....but your POSITION?

    Irrationally annoyed.

Position and ability to move has a major impact on the success rates for natural, unmedicated birth.   I get that that's not your interest but there's no reason to be upset that it's someone else's.  Good for her for taking an active interest in her health care to achieve the birth she wants.  Changing doctors and hospitals does not "risk" her or her baby's health in any way.

My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.

LOL, not "upset" just annoyed. I probably get way too annoyed with many women's decisions regarding childbirth. To me, it is a medical procedure and should be treated a such. This is coming from someone who's child's life was saved by Texas Women's professionals....not MY doctor. (by neonatal team) I DO get that some women don't think the same way as me...but I can still get annoyed by the way they think ;-)

Thanks...I really need to just buy all of the stuff listed above and get it altered.  That will help a TON!

HP - I haven't.  We're doing gold/metallic but I haven't been shopping.  Last night I realized the dress is much more gold than champagne also.  I need to physically shop because I don't know my shoe size (it varies a lot) and I am not sure on the heel height.

I agree BUT her post was very melodramatic. I mean, I didn't have to lay down. Where did she get that information? Rumors and heresay? I just take exception to the "having a total meltdown because of these rumors." I mean, try talking with your doctor. Or ask nicely for other options. I get really annoyed by the hysteria which is fed by misinformation. Others will see that post and freak out and it just perpetuates.

  • DH & I signed up in January as volunteers for the youth group mission trip this summer.  We were so excited about it.  And the kids were excited b/c they were going to have "cool young chaperones" for a change.

My cousin got engaged about 3 weeks ago & set her wedding date.  It conflicts with the mission trip.

I just had to e-mail the youth group director & back out.  I'm trying very hard not to cry at my desk over this one.

  • This week is dragggggging on.

  • my cousin just booked our house for Concan... i am so extremely excited!!!  we didn't think it would be a reality this year, but enough people are going that each family only has to foot the bill for one night.  we'll have a pool in the backyard and a golf cart : )

i can't wait to get my big pasty white butt on that freezing cold river again.  i'm so excited to spend time with my family (yes, we'll annoy each other, but isn't that what life's all about?).

  • I feel like I just had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.  I was seriously stressed out/freaking out b/c on Monday when I was updating our budget, etc the amount I thought the bank showed, was 1000 less than what I showed we should have and I was panicking and trying to figure out how/where/why I spent that money.  Yesterday I'm telling DH "we're just going to have to cancel our anni dinner b/c we don't have the money and I don't understand why and OMGOSH WHAT HAPPENED!?" lol  He's like "what is your deal?  we were perfectly fine when I checked yesterday."  So I look today, yeah... Apparently I just can't read b/c the money that should be there is there.  Maybe the deposits hadn't updated or something.  Nice to know I didn't just lose 1000 dollars though.  lol

ok.  i don't really understand what is so be-all, end-all about Uverse.  we have comcast.  my mom has uverse, so i have used/watched it before and stuff.  the way people foam at the mouth for uverse you'd think it does the laundry for you while you watch tv.

    U-verse totally does my laundry.

Really though I love it for several reasons.  One, we had crappy DirecTV.  They said they couldn't hook it up to where we could DVR one show while watching another show.  We could only DVR what was on the channel we were watching.  Defeats the purpose, IMO.   Also, we lost cable every time the wind blew.

I also love that UVerse has so many kids shows on demand.  Mommy needs to cook dinner without helpers - wow, look, Yo Gabba Gabba is on.

Well, first off Comcast used to go out on us all the time.  I'd spend up to 2 hours on hold before they'd finally talk to me & schedule someone to come out.  And then I'd have to wait 3 weeks for them to get there.  I've had a problem with AT&T once and they had someone out the next day.

And, since U-verse allows us to watch the DVR'd programs from any room in the house, DH will fold the laundry in the bedroom & watch his recorded programs while I watch what I want & work on stuff in the living room.  So it essentially does do the laundry for me.
