If you could live in any town in MA...
... what town would it be?
It can be the town you live in currently, or a town you would like to move to, but it has to be in MA.
Re: If you could live in any town in MA...
Newton, probably.
DH grew up in Hingham and it is a nice town, but I would personally not like that commute at all. Nor could you pay me to live that close to my ILs.
It's hard to say. There are a lot of nice towns in MA. Right now I wish I could live closer to work, but it isn't really possible because DH works in the opposite direction so we're more in the middle of both locations. It I were to pick a town closer to work I'd pick Lexington, where my mom grew up and my grandmother still lives.
When we were looking my ideal location was Acton because it has one of the best school systems. We moved nearby to a town that still has a really great school system, and we're closer to 495 which is a huge plus. We used to live in Maynard and hated it because it felt so far away from everything. So I'm actually really happy with our town and the location of our house; we can walk to the town beach!
I loved living in Belmont when we lived there... but I just don't like living in this area altogether! (we're moving back to Maine when we can)
If money wasn't a factor, I'd say maybe Groton. I've always loved driving through that town. Its so pretty and there are lots of farms with rolling hills and pretty farmhouses and barns, which I love. I don't know much about the town otherwise. It would still be close to work for me and H. The only problem is we'd be further away from our families.
Cambridge, hands down.
We are neighbors, I'm in Spencer
I like where I am now. Or Oxford where I grew up, nice and quiet.
so if I didn't have to take DH's job into account, I'd move back to Amherst in a heartbeat. I love it out there.
to be realistic, I would love to live in Lincoln.
...hello out there!
dx with anovulatory PCOS 2005
off bcp 11/11
a few rounds of clomid and femara... no response.
injectables/IUI 12/12... BFN
Feb 13 IVF cycle converted down to IUI due to low follicle response... BFFN
one last IVF attempt April/May 2013: 19 retrieved. 10 fertilized. 2 transferred in a 3dt. 4 frosties... BFP!!
EDD: 1/21/14... Induced early at 36+6. Our LO was born 12/30/13
Yay for neighbors (and for the Central Mass contingent)! You'll have to give us some tips...we've only been out here for about a year and a half. We absolutely LOVE it though.
Newburyport is so nice! I grew up spending my summers on Plum Island, but I could not convince DH to move there.
Oh well if money is no object, then I would want a brownstone in Beacon Hill, with a small yard, 2 parking spaces in an attached garage, and exception from the muzzle law and extra licensing fees from ACO.
Anything you want to know, page or PM me. Seriously. I'm glad you like it, I love that it's pretty quiet this way, but things aren't too far
Wow! So many responses!
I have no idea. In our house hunting now, we're looking at houses in a couple of towns we hadn't considered previously and DH asked me if I could choose any town (without budget consideration) what I would choose and I just have no idea.
Since we moved to MA, I like dragging DH to new towns to explore on the weekends. Favorites so far, definately Newburyport...I would love to live there. I also liked Hyannis. Neither would actually work because they are too far from work. I'd loved to be somwehere with a cute little downtown with shops, restaurants, maybe a dive bar....but without the congestion of the big city. I really liked Lexington too!
Mattapoisett, MA, specifically the village. if not there then Fairhaven, dartmouth...you get my idea....
I'm landlocked in wrentham and it HURTS lol i've done it for years but was back down there for my internship last year and now it hurts more this year LOL I hit exit 7 on 496 and i relax
Getting fit for IVF!
Is it weird that I had to think on this for a day? Haha.
I think closer to the city I would like Brookline or Winchester. Outside of 128 I'd like Newburyport or Plymouth.
Not at all! I still don't have an answer!
What about Salem?
I looove Salem. It has a great walkable downtown and lots of character, but it is SO inconveniently located when it comes to highways.
You are right. One of the lawyers I work with lives there and the commute sux for him!
Braintree -- we both left and came back, so I guess that says something
But if money was no issue, probably Newton/Wellesley.
