Re: finally friday!

  • That ski run ends in a lake????  How awesome.  But how are you not wet/cold/hypothermic when you go up the mountain again???

Happily we did not get any snow.  Rain, yes, but I can live with that.  And the commute was pretty easy - I think the forecast scared people off.

Managed to get paint last night and to pack the care package for my bff.  K will be dropping it off at the post office today since he works right next door.  A few items/piles on my desk to clean up today and then I am out of here.

I generally think April Fools jokes are overrated, but I was debating pulling one on my mom...calling her this afternoon and telling her I had the baby this morning.  So mean, but probably so worth it.

  • Morning. It was snow/raining on my way into work but not sticking so thats a good sign.

My damn coworker got me with an April Fools Joke already. The company I work for has a vending machine type product. I get a call from a police officer saying he's at a local location and there's a kid with his whole arm stuck in our product. I know that this is completely impossible but I start asking questions like how it happened and all. Right as I'm about to put him on hold and ask one of our techs to go there and free the kid, he says " Ha ha, April Fools Nichole." Hardy, har har. I hate being fooled.

  • It's FINALLY friday!!!  WooHoo!!!
It's my last day at my current work location...I start at my new one on Monday!  Hot damn!  I'm in VCU colors today for the game tomorrow!  Don and I are heading up to Richmond tomorrow morning w/ the few things that I'll need to survive up there for a few weeks.  I'm so excited, but I'm going to miss Don and our furbabies a whole heck of a lot...but it's for the best!  FIL might have gotten Don a job in Richmond that would give Don a $4 raise...if this were to go through we'd be sitting pretty for sure!  I'm trying no to get my hopes up on this job, but it seems pretty promising...so we'll see!

  • TGIF! So glad it's Friday. I don't think any of my kiddos are going to show up so I'm just going to get the student I have to test and probably call it a day.

I got some semi good news yesterday afternoon. I had a phone interview for a job in the hospital which would be permanent and not just over the summer. The director was concerned with my lack of experience in an acute setting BUT said I sounded enthusiastic and confident. I'm going there Monday to meet her and get a tour of the place and then sit in on a spinal cord injury seminar. IF the SLP that's there now is willing to train/mentor me then I'm pretty sure (fingers crossed) I'll get the job. It might be a little less pay an hour BUT I won't have days off that I don't get paid for now. Fingers crossed I make a good impression Monday!

No big plans this weekend. It's supposed to be nice here all weekend so hopefully we'll get some yardwork done.

  • Love that jacket.

Last night I went to Marburn Curtain to get panels to cover my closet for when I rip the butthole doors out this weekend. Is it weird I prefer tension rods and curtains on closets over doors? I think it adds color and texture and I just like it. Plus you can wash them.

My back is frigging destroyed today, probably from picking that fat Gussie up. So so bad. I am leaving my sneakers on all day. He was acting really weird last night, and at first I thought it was his stomach since he was walking oddly.  However I think Gus's problem is a toenail that's curling under. If MFD can't get him to Petco today for a trim I will take both of them tomorrow. I could get Gus's nails clipped every two weeks. They are awful and the one grows in funky. A lot of pugs have this issue. PITA

Snapfish has 50% off photo books. I might make a few today and stash them as Mothers' Day gifts.

Awful weather for the Phils home opener. I should go to the DMV  to get my license taken care of but the weather sucks hard.

I was on the 6:37 a.m. train. I couldn't fall asleep until 12:30 last night and woke up at 5:45. Hideous.

I saw a man having a fight with policemen this morning, shouting that they couldn't arrest him because he is the next George Foreman and has a gas card to use. Luckily he got off - because there were no policemen, only him alone on the corner in the rain. And I saw two women get into it on the escalator, and the one yelling at the other you don't even work why are you holding everyone else up. Not a good morning for many it seems.

  • Susie, what did you put in the care package. Also did I miss if you decided on a name for the baby?

    EmilyAnn-good luck!

Nichole-I am a April Fool joke hater.

    Jen-happy last day! Very exciting.

Snapfish is loading super effing slow, so annoying. Also annoying: I left home without my personal cell phone or work cell phone. Thank you husband for bringing them to me when you come into the city.

Weekend plans for me: Leaving early to get to the chiropractor, then babysitting our nephew. I think MFD is going to join me when he's finished working.

Saturday I may run some errands and do whatever cleaning I can manage with this back pain. Saturday night we have dinner at a friends' house.

    Sunday baby shower. Boo.

That ski run ends in a lake????  How awesome.  But how are you not wet/cold/hypothermic when you go up the mountain again???

well it is a pond skim contest, so not anyone can do it, you have to qualify (gerren does it).  then you just try to make it across the pond without sinking (gerren kicks asssss at it) and then you dont get wet!  those who do fall in usually have spare clothes and to be honest, are too drunk to go back skiing anyway, they generally just hit up the beer garden :)

  • Hope everyone else is having a better morning than I am. I HATE having to find subs for teachers who call out, especially because I do it on my own time, cell phone and don't really get compensated for it. GRRR....

The GREAT thing about today is that it is OPENING DAY!!!!! GO RED SOX!!!

We are going to the Rays home openner today. So I am leaving work early because as Greg says we need to get there early, the are lowering the ALeast banner, it's the first tailgate of the season. blah blah blah..

  • Working from home, so I'm curled up in bed w/ H and the cat. Thank god we only got like 3" of snow.

I HATE April Fool's Day. I can be so freaking gullible, especially when I don't have my attention 100% devoted to something. Like when logging into gmail, I was all "ooh, that g-motion thing looks cool." I'm so glad I'm not at work today. I'd be the victim of tons of pranks.

    *sigh*

  • Friday.  Red Sox Opening Day.  Enough said =)

Oh, and H and I are going out for Japanese tonight and tomorrow my mom invited us to go out to dinner with her and my little sister.  Should be fun.  Lots of eating out though - got to be good and stay on track!

  • TGIF!

I pulled the typical preggo April Fool's joke on both a friend & J today and they both fell for it. Like bad. I feel like such a *** now!

And ofcourse, on the flipside, I almost wish it wasn't a joke. Wink

    Shauni - love that jacket!

Steph - I am forever amused by your CC stories. That is honestly one of the main reasons I avoid walking around the city as much as I can, haha.

Emily - good luck on the job! I'm crossing my fingers for you!

    Fourth Anniversary

Morning!  I had a random day off yesterday for Cesar Chavez day, which worked out because I had an appointment with my GP to confirm the pregnancy.  The nurse was funny when she told me the test was positive, as she somehow wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

H was ticking me off this morning, insisting he hadn't been part of a conversation about when to do this reunion type thing with my family.  I was describing to him where we were each sitting, etc. when it took place, and he still doesn't believe me.  I'm all hormonal, so I was like, quit being a ***!, and then turned on my blow dryer.  Yeah, I'm really mature these days.

Susie, what did you put in the care package. Also did I miss if you decided on a name for the baby?

Princess pencils, beach stickers, Better Homes & Gardens (since we're too old for Cosmo??), a trashy novel, a fuzzy pair of easter socks/slippers, mini snickers, mini reeses cups, a cucumber melon candle, hot pink flip flops, a spring picnic Elmo book (she's a el sp ed teacher), new hand lotion, easter oven mitt & hot pad.  I think that's everything.  A lot of it came from the dollar section at Target.

No name yet.  :-(  On the bright side, I don't have to lie to people b/c we want to keep it private...we really don't know what we're naming him!!

ETA - and I totally lived the Target overspending last night.  Figured I'd spend about $30 on the care package...$80 later...

  • Yay for official PG confirmation!

I just realized my paper license thing is a temporary license for 60 days, so I'm not going to bust a move down to the DMV on the first of the month with a wrecked back and two city's finest sightings under my belt already today.

So even though I don't have a plastic perm license, I am now officially name changed besides my passport.

  • Awesome care package SusieQ.

Also, when I was younger I thought Better Homes & Gardens and Good Housekeeping were things I would never, ever read. Never say never!

  • Wow, everyone has a lot going on.

    MushE- congrats again!

Jen- Yay for the last day at the office from hell, oh wait that's my office.

Em- Good luck on the phone interview

Who am I forgetting?  Sorry to late to go back and read all your posts.

So glad it's Friday.  This was the longest week ever.  Not much planned for the weekend.  Tomorrow I start my training for my volunteer work at the women's crisis center.  I'm looking forward to that, I hope it will be a rewarding experience.

Sunday we are going to rearrange the room and hopefully get rid of old clothes and junk we don't need.

Deb, that's so great that you're going to be volunteering at a women's crisis center.  Yay!  Volunteer work can be so fulfilling.  I used to volunteer every other weekend at the homeless shelter in my area, and then joined their board of directors.  I really miss actually being at the house.

I'm excited for your VCU team.  We randomly saw their last game while we were on vacation, because the only English channel we got besides CNN and BBC was ESPN America.  And we somehow caught it live.  Too exciting.

  • Deb- It's so awesome you're volunteering. I have gotten out of it and need to find somewhere around here to get back into it. I volunteered at a women's shelter for abused wives/mothers/children back in high school and it's so fulfilling! Good luck!

Lol, I can't wait!  I was totally exhausted yesterday and had to mow the lawn, since it hadn't been done in literally months (and MH is allergic to cut grass).  Afterwards, I basically insisted that we go ask the neighbor boys if they want the job.  Do not want.  Stick out tongue

  • I am off today!  Work was really slow this week and I didn't want to go in, so I took off.  Hopefully that won't backfire on me Monday.

I made a trip to Target this morning and walked out having only bought what I needed!  I was shocked.

And I got really good news yesterday.  My photographer sent us the layout for our album.  And she's working on her own now, and needs an editor.  She remembered I'm editing my own, and asked if I was interested!  It's exactly what I've been hoping for.  Now I'm glad I have the day off, so I can spend the afternoon making substantial progress on my video.  I may post it later tonight for some constructive criticism.

Def hire the neighbors.  The exhaustion gets better in 2nd tri, but anybody who tells you that you'll have 'so much energy' is full of BS.

Care package is for BFF who had really crappy week (in Thursday's post).
