SA Wednesday

Re: SA Wednesday

  • Ben has a huge framed picture of a cat painted by Marilyn Manson.  It used to be in his foyer and now we have it above our bed.

Above our fireplace, we have a wedding pic.  :)

My new thing is to cook and make a bunch of stuff on Sunday so I don't have to cook every night.  I just started it this Sunday and I can already tell it will be one of the best ideas I have ever had.

  • imagebsn1752:

Art Work - check out Hobby Lobby and TJ Maxx/Ross/Kohls too!

Thanks!  I've been looking there and everywhere!  I'm going to go to TJ Maxx/HomeGoods today at lunch.  The trouble is finding something big enough.

I'm now immersed in the FW Arts Festival Emerging Artists page.    I'm kinda liking Lewis Bowman and I can even order prints for less than $100....but they are too small.  :-/

It would also help if I could decide if I want something traditional or modern.

  • Don't forget HomeGoods. A new on just opened on Park Lane in Dallas and it is beautiful and huge.

I don't have a lot to SA today. I spent my free time while "watching" the Biggest Loser reading about getting ready for pregnancy, which I know you girls aren't interested in.

I have three tests over today and tomorrow and it sucks.

My DH has become really friendly with this group of neighbors that are always hanging out in this one guy's driveway. I can do without seeing random neighbors every single day and only go over there maybe once a week. Last night DH tells me they are starting to think I am uppity. Really?!? This is why I didn't want to hang out with them in the first place.

  • DH and I made beer can chicken last night on the grill and it was delicious!!

I am going to walk down to the FW arts festival during lunch on Friday just to check it out.  I have never been, which is kind of funny considering I've worked downtown for 3 years!

  • @Tiffany- I got a HUGE framed painting from Kirklands for my dining room for less than $100.  I am sure a million other people in America have it too, but I don't really care.

As for original art, a good place for "cheap" is the Deep Ellum area.  It isn't really my cup of tea, but I went to an outdoor art thing there and had an original done for about $150.  It is actually a series of three medium sized canvas's with a similiar theme.

  • My in-laws are coming into town just for Main Street, so we will be there most of the day Saturday. We go every year, so it should be fun. I just hope it is not SUPER crowded. Maybe the Southlake thing will keep some people away.

  • We had a meatless dinner of faux riblets, green beans, sweet potato casserole and stuffed jalapenos (I only had half of one because they were pretty hot) and I'll be having the same for lunch today.

I went to the doctor this morning and got a steroid shot and samples of Singular.  She wanted to give me a nose spray but I said no thank you.

And I'm hungry and my Wheat Thicks are missing.

It's quiet a time saver.  I prep as much as I can when we get our veggies in and just do everything in one full swoop.  Rachael Ray has a new show where she prepares a week worth of dinner on one day but it's on the Cooking Channel, which we do not get.  This girl was on The Talk one day and she does something similar but I haven't had a chance to check out her website.  Menu planning also saves me time and money.

  • World Market has some nice paintings too and every once in awhile they are half off.  I looked at Etsy and prices were all over the place.
  • Re: Local artists

I'm going to pimp out my friend Maggie, who is awesome.

    http://www.maggieruthless.com/

Courts won't let us have art from Target, Hobby Lobby, etc. Which is understandable since he's an artist. When we have our own place again (someday...), we will only have art created by him, myself, or a friend.

My phone interview yesterday was for two positions at a school in New Jersey. I've never been there, and all I know of NJ is Jersey Shore, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. However, living halfway between NYC and Philadelphia would be baller.

Last night for dinner I made salad with grilled shrimp, tomato, grilled corn and avocado with a cumin-lime dressing. For tonight, I have steaks marinating in coffee, brown sugar and red pepper.

Ah, why didn't I think of them?!  I've been on their website for the last 20 minutes now. :)

  • Bed, Bath and Beyond has some things too.

And all the girls changing their screen names has me thinking about doing the same thing.  However, it's been my nickname for FOR-E-VER.  Hmmmm.

I've seen it on Food Network a couple of times--Week in a Day or something.  That is what gave me the idea actually.

My last 2 RR recipes I've tried I haven't like so much.  I am dying to make this bacon and chicken mac & cheese but I priced the ingredients and it would be like $50 mac & cheese.  If it fails I will really regret it.

All this talk of TTC has gotten me curious. I'll be 35 by the time we start TTC, so I'm interested in what you've learned or websites that you have found helpful.

  • I feel like we are stuck in our recipes because everything has to be quick and easy. Hopefully I'll get some new ones from yall when we have our recipe day.

  • Yum, everyone's dinner sounds awesome!  Stephie, let us know how the mac & cheese turns out if you make it.  Sounds delish!

Oh and now I want to go to the Main Street Arts Festival in FW!  Hmmm...wonder if my DH would like it?

  • I know that we have beat the clarisonic talk around here to death. BUT... last night I was at Walmart and Olay has a similar one called Olay Pro X cleaning system.  It as only $30... so I couldn't resist.  I really liked it alot.  I called a friend of mine who is an esthetician, and she said that they were bascially the same thing.

Just a thought for yall who were dreaming about Claisonic like I was!

I found out about this when I posted on the Beauty  Board.  I am totally trying it.  I'm getting a facial this weekend so I was going to look for it and then try it next week.

I'm a little bummed that you girls say you have to wash your face before using it though.  I thought that was the whole point.  Oh well, for $30 I'll try it.

    Now you tell me!  ;)

Stephie - I think the clarisonic says to just take off your eye make-up.  I don't think I would want to brush my eyes, anyway.  I take off all my make-up first, but that's just me and my routine.

  • Girls looking for affordable art, check out iStock Photo too. I got a gorgeous photo of a cathedral and blew it up big, and framed it above my couch. It's unique, everyone loves it, and the most expensive thing was the frame. I think the whole thing ran me maybe $60 or $75.

Check out the book Taking Charge of your Fertility. It talks alot about learning your body's signs, which is super important for TTC. I also like the website Fertility Friend.

Ha! I wish I knew. The book I mentioned actually has tips/old wives tales that some people swear work.

Supposedly male sperm swim faster but female sperm last longer.  So if you want a boy, you need to have intercourse right at ovulation, if you want a girl, 24 hours before you ovulate.

At least that is what I heard.  :)

  • A note about Olay Pro X, my sister purchased this because of the price instead of a Clarisonic.  Since we are now roomies, I see her everyday and her results are not as positive as the ones I see with my Clarisonic.

For this beauty tool, higher price might actually mean something.

Face west and lick lemons, right?  Or is that for a girl?

  • First I found out this morning that I am at my heaviest EVER.  Sucky suck suck.  We've completely changed our diet since January which makes it that much more frustrating.  Someone stab me in the gallbladder area so I can have it removed and get rid of 12 pounds because I don't have another appendix. So speaking of everyone TTC, I've said it before but DH will make off hand remarks about me being pregnant.  The last comment last night was about my boobs (my mistake for bringing them up) and he said "they don't grow 'til the 3rd trimester, right?"  Grrr.  He just called me and asked if I would be willing to take a PG test after he had some time to think after the dr appointment with everything going on (my weight gain, I took antibiotics earlier this year that were supposedly super strong which may have messed with my BC, etc.).  Guess what I'll be doing tonight?  POAS.

  • Oh Jaymi, I know that would be a shocker for y'all but I am still excited for you. Let's just hope you don't get a book. :)

I am in the library right now and this guy sat down pulled our all of his books, pens, computer, etc then turned on the computer to play World of Warcraft. He keeps flipping pages in his book randomly so I guess he is "studying."

Not to jinx you (okay, maybe a little), but I got pregnant with Cadence on BC when I was taking antibiotics.
