Re: UO THURSDAY!
Stripes--not completely directed at you, it was more that the thread below kind of triggered it for me. I've been around a lot of complainy people lately, and I grow weary of listening to them. I want to shake people sometimes and remind them to look at the positive things in their lives!
I'm sorry if you felt offended, it wasn't my intention. However, I stand by the fact that I have the right to voice my opinion that maybe we all need to take a step back from time to time to re-evaluate the source of our frustrations.
And yes, I do grow weary at my job from time to time, and there are things at home that frustrate me; however, as I said before, I have taken an active interest in focusing my thoughts away from those things as I am a better person, wife, and teacher when I do. I understand that your house has been under renovation for awhile, and that the process can be a force to be reckoned with, and we have gone through it, to a lesser extent, as well. I can sympathize. We have also both been working ridiculous hours, especially H (who has some very high-maintenance clients...oy), and that can work on you.
This response is horrifyingly ironic.
I realize that I am epicly late in responding to this post but I actually have an UO and though it's Friday, I'm all busy and stuff so work with me here.
My UO:
I absolutely hate it when all people can talk about is their job. I understand talking about it some (we obviously spend the majority of our time devoted to our careers) but when it is all you have to say, I'm going to think that you are one heck of a boring person. I get that you like your job, and are proud of what you do, but FFS, there is more to life than your career.
Amen sister. I was just wondering about you the other day! Good to see ya again.
Nice to see you, btw.
Lady - one of my coworkers takes some of your classes!!
I hope things are going well - your boys are super cute!
Sorry, I know this is going to start drama. I can't ignore the big elephant in the room any longer.
Pot, this is kettle. Holy crap. "From time to time?: If you were to review your posts 99.9% are about teaching this and teaching that and my class this and my band that. That's all you talk about.
I haven't seen an active interest in focusing your posts away from teaching. For the most part people on this board coddle you and tell you what a great job you do when they've never even stepped inside your classroom. Why can you not extend the same courtesy and let other people vent about their frustrations? At least their frustrations change and stray from the same ol song and dance each post. Jeez o pete leave people alone and quit semi calling them out.
Wait....what? I thought we were all talking about general complaints. In that case, I'm out of here. I didn't gang up on people in middle school and I'm not doing it now either.
Someone tell me where to go in Orlando, dang it!
Oh snap!
There are no general complaints when the op specifically and non specifically names people. For example when op says, "Stripes--not completely directed at you." Now, I'm no genius but using context clues and a little inference skills part of the op's complaint IS general and specific. I think it's just a little hypocritical to "call" someone out about ONE venting post, that's all I was saying. I'm not ganging up on people ala ms style just stating my opinion. Maybe because I didn't drown it in my classroom woes it was misunderstood?
I haven't been to Orlando since the 6th grade. Sorry can't help there. But maybe the Florida board could?
