Re: for those of us who judge shatty names...

  • Ugh, I also hate when people name their kids name that all start with the same letter, ESPECIALLY when they have to spell creatively to do so.  Example: all of the Duggar children's names start with J, and one of them is 'Jinger'.  ::shudder::

  • confession: there's so much name-hate in the world that I was afraid to tell Jeff the names I like.  I think it's very easy to over-analyze, and it's scary to think you're naming someone forever!

To make it worse, after I admitted the names I like to Jeff, he made a birthday card for me and jokingly drew two babies and had them saying 'Happy Birthday' to me, and on them he had written their names, but horribly misspelled (I think it was Ryinn and Catherynne) so I started to cry because I thought he hated the names.  He really was just trying to be funny, because we both hate names like that, and he spent like an hour trying to convince me that he liked the names.

  • Laura- I think we all have weird reasons for hating perfectly normal acceptable names. Like Toby veto'd Molly because he associates it with the first cloned sheep? Max reminds him of a down syndrome kid and we both could never do names of exs or family that we despise.

My mom worked in a behavioral classroom and she seemed to have lots of boy with names starting with J. She once told me I am not allowed to name my son a J name. I will probably stick with this.

I use to Love the name Christian James, not sure if I would have called hime CJ than I had a child in my first class and his name was CJ and I will say he was not my favorite child and there went my favorite nameCrying So I totally understand name association thing.

Being a teacher/working in a school can ruin a lot of names for someone

This may get me flamed...I don't like the name Destiny, it sounds like a stripper name to me.

Oh, I agree.  That's what I was saying, that it's a stripper name like Capri.  Big Smile
