Does anybody have anything good? It's been a slow week around here.
Re: Confessions?
This is more of a rant than a confession, but I am currently casting 1000 side eyes at the coverage of the Main Line mom held up at Starbucks.
Someone was held up for money and jewelry. At a place where people with disposable income frequent. This happens multiple times a day.
I am so over the government. I am tired of people arguing about our president. I am tired of the radicals on each side. I am so disenchanted with it all. It doesn't even feel like it's one country anymore. I know I should do my best to be informed but there is so much bias in every news article, no matter where you turn, I can't be bothered.
I guess mine was more of a rant too.
I'm doing nothing at work today. I thought this week would be calm but its been nothing but insanity here since mid April. I just can't take it anymore so I'm using this day to do as little as possible.

i too found this really odd that is was over-reported
I actually haven't even heard about this.

The best part of the Main Line Starbucks Bandit story is that he took her credit cards and WENT TO BUY COFFEE AT A SPRINGFIELD STARBUCKS!
He is like a modern day Robin Hood!
Me neither. Though how are people shocked that someone got robbed? If the person was wearing a chicken suit, yeah, but just a holdup? No interest.
You can't quit the good stuff. Push presents are just to your month board what CIO is to 0-3, or solids to 3-6. Or naps. You do not even know how controversial naps are.
I seriously do not know how you all do it with those crazies! I knew as soon as I hit "Post" that I was doing myself in. And sure enough, I'm the mom who is going to deprive her kid of birthday parties and presents and is "just bitter" because my husband isn't buying me a Beamer or a necklace from Tiffany's just for birthing our kid. JFC here I go again...
Alright, where is this gem? I am not above an AE with a fake ticker.
So true, Amy.
I confess I don't get the controversy over push presents. More power to you if your baby is your present and that's all you need. I went through well over 40 hours of mostly med free labor and had to have my baby cut out of me. I TOTALLY earned my present.
I have no opinion on the push present issue, but I do have a question: did you tell him that you were expecting something? Because I'm fairly positive my H would never think of this on his own.
Honestly I can't remember. But he kind of knew about push presents as we had a lot of friends who have had babies who also got them.
The thing I love about push presents on the Bump is that the girls who complain about getting them the most, and basically order their husbands to get them one, almost always have this shitastic taste and it turns out they want some cheap "Mother's Love Knot" (I made that up) from Kay!
Okay, that's fair.
Oh, and has Mother's Day come up? I remember that from this time last year on the tri boards "He better get me something for Mother's Day despite the fact my piss isn't even dry on the stick yet!"
As you can imagine, worry about getting shafted on Mother's Day is huge on the first year boards right now. huge.
This is my issue. I think Amy touched on it. These women are demanding gifts from their husbands! If your H gets your a present out of sheer good will and pride in you, then I'm all for it and would happily accept. But I would never in a million years say "H, I would like a push present, specifically a diamond necklace like this." It's so crass to me.
Oh and Amy - the mother's day stuff is starting. It's about 50/50 because most of their H's think it's bad luck and they don't complain.
I'm convinced that most of the girls on TB are married or engaged to total ahole neanderthals.
3-6 is the worst for this. The awe of the newborn has worn off your their dickbag husbands AND they are going and getting pregnant again.
Ok this is a confession or an unpopular opinion or whatever.
Just saw a post on FB and someone wrote how "proud" they are of their babies. Babies are 2 and 6 months. What are you proud of? Pooping their diaper? I can see being proud of your child for saying it's alphabet or acing a math test. But that one got the side eye from me. Feel free to enlighten me mothers
And I can't even get worked up if a Mom asked for/told her H to get her a push present. I mean, shiz, after going through 40 weeks of pregnancy and childbirth, I think every woman should get one.
Also, I'm guessing the amount of $$ we saved in me not drinking for 40 weeks was more then enough to pay for mine...
I'm proud of my kid when she doesn't crap outside of her diaper. Or does that make me proud of the diaper that it holds up?!
I've been extra sensitive/jealous/biitchy/fillintheblankhere with dh because he is in Vegas and I'm not and the only reason I'm not is because I'm pg. I was "invited", but who wants to hang out with a 7.5 mo pg lady in Vegas? I didn't want to be that girl, so I declined. I'm going out on Sunday for a few days, where it will be just him and I, and I should be excited, but the whole "I'd be there if I wasn't pg", just annoys me and the green monster has it's eyes on dh, cause this kid is half his and he is laying by the pool. I hope it rains or a kid pees in the pool or something.
Oh, and he asked me about a push present and I said I didn't need one. After how I feel about the above, I want a present.

DH just heard the term push present on some tv show the other day. He asked me what it was, I told him and then he said that was stupid. I got annoyed. Then he asked why I was annoyed and I was all "we go through 40 weeks of carrying a kid around, our bodies change permenantly, I'm sure labor is a total b*tch and you do nothing but essentially watch"
I obviously told him I wouldn't expect a Real Housewife type gift like an expensive car or huge diamonds but something would be nice. My dad gave my mom flowers and wrote her a cute note when I was born. I still have that note. Just some sentiment is deserved in my opinion.

See, this I happen to disagree with. I realize exactly how corny this is going to sound, but I think your kid is your present! You knew what you were signing up for and you don't deserve a bonus gift just for doing what trillions of women have done for thousands of years before you. It's the circle of life, not a birthday party.
