MONDAY!!!

Hey all!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  We went to some garage sales on saturday.  Found a push lawn mower which we needed.  Everything else out there was baby stuff though. Felt like it was the universe's way of telling my uterus to get it's but in gear.  Tongue Tied

Sunday we mowed the lawn.  I did the front and the side.  Then turned it off to get some water.  Went to do the back and couldnt' get the damn thing started.  So I left it for J to finish.  Of course he got it started his first try.

My pasty white body proceeded to get sun burned while mowing.  Didn't even think about it.  Wasn't out there long, but my arms are burned and I'm already sporting an awesome farmers tan.  BUT at least it's not raining or snowing so I'll take it!

Friday a bunch of us went to the Seafood and blues festival. Way smaller than last year, good thing I don't like seafood they had none. It was a great place to people watch. We sat in front of these older couples who were drunk and really getting down with the music.

Saturday I worked, after Greg had a couple of our friends over to watch the Derby.Good thing he didn't bet because he said he wouldn't have had the horse that won in anything.

SUnday was laundry daySad I was gonna clean the house after but we ended up going out for a little bit.

  • Oh, hey! I haven't posted in what feels like weeks ;)

I know what you mean about the unexpected burn - I keep forgetting we're on the borderline of summer and not even thinking about putting on sunscreen yet. It's still a little cool here in SE PA which is probably why.

It's only 10:05am and I want this week over already, bleh!

Saturday J & I ran our first 5k race - it went really well. I finished in a little over 31 minutes and finished third in my age group, and got a medal, haha! J finished in a little over 34 which is amazing considering we couldn't run a 10th of a mile three months ago and when we registered we just made a goal to finish in under 40 minutes. So yay us! I'm already itching to sign-up for another 5k soon...

Deb, where are you? I can't wait to hear about your 5k experience!

YAY for you guys!!!  that's awesome!!!  So did you run the whole time or did you have to walk at all?  Even in my prime in highschool I couldn't run a mile straight through.  Always had to stop at least a couple times to walk a bit.

  • I had an AWESOME weekend! Got to hang out with my friends in Syracuse and partied all weekend long. While I was partying, H was doing housework. He fixed up the side yard (which is more like our backyard), hung up my huge mirror and a few pictures, installed a bathroom vent fan, did ALL the laundry, cleaned our entire bedroom and was an awesome husband.I REALLY missed him while I was away.

Tonight I need to put all my laundry away and do some cleaning of my own (like our second bedroom that is just littered with my stuff).

So far, it's going really well for a Monday.

(An unmatched left parenthesis creates an unresolved tension that will stay with you all day.

Thank you! I did run the whole time, but believe me when I say I wanted to take a quick walking break more than once, haha. I knew if I stopped to walk it would have thrown off my mojo, though.

  • You know a weekend is a total buttock kicker when you are relieved that it's Monday. I was on the run constantly and feel like I got five minutes of sleep total.

Friday I dashed home, assembled Mother?s Day gifts, packed up the dogs and headed to my Mom?s. Hung there eating and talking until 9:30. We went back to my house and MFD and I packed Debbie?s car. I read a mag and fell out at 11:30.

Saturday I was up at 4:30 am. We were at the flea market until 12 selling stuff for Relay For Life. It was a slow day, but we still made $178. Debbie and I took what didn?t sell to Goodwill. I went home, cleaned the powder room and bathroom, then went grocery shopping. I unloaded, wiped down the kitchen, showered, did a load of laundry, and raced off to meet my Dad, Carol and Grandmom for a long lunch outside at a restaurant up near my Grandmom?s. When I got home I sorted the mail and cleaned in the dining room and kitchen.

Saturday night I had another Relay team event from 10-1 a.m. OY. I did win a $20  bakery gift card, $25 to my favorite pizza place on earth, $300 worth of Kate Somerville facial products, and four free Rita?s Water Ice coupons. Holleriffic.

I got home at 1:30, ate a sandwich, and peaced out to dreamland at 2:30 a.m.

Sunday I got up at 8:30. We had coffee and bagels with lox.  I moved furniture and steam cleaned the library carpets, did 8 loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, did some rearranging in the utility and coat closets, dusted and vacuumed the top floor, dusted the living room and changed our sheets.

I returned some stuff to Old Navy, got SIL a laundry sorter and lightbulbs at Bed, Bath & Beyond, then got a tiny girlfriend two outfits in Marshall?s for her first birthday. I hit Walfart and picked up another lamp for SIL. MFD and I headed over there at 3:30 and helped them move until about 6:00, then watched our nephews until 8 so they could buy some bedding and a TV.

We were famished, so we stopped at WaWa, then came home and ate while watching DVR of Raising Hope and Family Guy. I packed lunch and called it a night, reading in bed until 10:15.

  • Congrats on your 5K performance Stef! Way to rock it!

  • This weekend was a good mix of busy and restful.  I just realized I forgot to call my mom yesterday...whoops.  I doubt she even got her card in time because I sent out the cards on Thursday and she lives in OR, and I scheduled her flowers for Monday (no way was I paying an extra $15 to ship them on Sunday when flowers are already a huge rip-off).  I feel worse because MIL got her card Saturday.  And I was going to send her better flowers but Jeff stopped me.  Oh well I suck.

I finally finished the book I was reading and then started the Sookie Stackhouse books - I'm almost finished with the second now.  Much faster reads than the Ender series, that's for sure.  Last night I tried a new Barefoot Contessa recipe on the striped bass we caught last weekend, and it was amazing.  The filets are huge so I only used half; tonight I'll use the other half in paella, I think.  Or maybe I'll just grill it.  On tap at work is a productive but not stressful day, which is my favorite kind.  See y'all around!

  • This weekend went way too quickly.

Friday morning we fired one of the people here. Its for the best, but until we get someone else in here and trained I'm doing the job of 3 people. That's kinda pushing it. I did absolutely nothing Friday night other than make a bag of popcorn for dinner. Oh and look out the window when the thunderstorm that rolled through was so loud our entire apartment building shook/vibrated for a good minute.

Saturday I got all of my cleaning done and went to see Thor with H as his birthday present. I thought the movie was pretty decent but the theater really needed to adjust their speakers. I thought they were going to blow out my ear drums. I'm also curious as to why the eff they can charge $18.50 for a large popcorn and 2 medium sodas. On top of the $15 tickets. I know I'm cheap and all, but seriously, it'd be over $100 for a family of 4 to go to the movies. Thats freaking ridiculous.

After the movie we went to the grocery store, then came home. I made blueberry muffins and granola for breakfast this week. Went to bed super early.

Sunday was H's birthday. I made my first yellow cake from scratch. It was disturbingly easy. I have no idea why I haven't made one before. H woke up and decided he was hungry. I made a breakfast skillet casserole thing (hash browns, eggs, cheese and bacon). The chocolate icing for his cake took FOREVER in the fridge. It was almost 4 by the time I got to icing the cake. Then I made dinner, homemade crab cakes, french fries and corn on the cob. We were stuffed and didn't end up having the cake until 8 PM.

Husband dearest actually had the nerve to say he thinks he likes boxed cake better. I really need to get him some new taste buds. Strange boy would rather eat canned/overly processed garbage instead of real food.

I found a good reason to hate the Walmart on Sunday. H asked for Tron. Last week, I pick up the movie in electronics and ask if I need to purchase it there because its in that security case thing. They tell me no. I go to the main check out, they take the movie over to some other desk to have security thing removed, give it back and I'm on my merry way. Yesterday, when H removes the cardboard sleeve of the movie he notices there isn't any plastic wrap around the case. He opens and it and there's no freaking dvd inside. So either the case is put on in the store and the employees are stealing movies before they get on the shelves or where ever they took my movie some bastard stole it then. I felt like such a birthday present failure until I stormed into Walmart demanding an exchange and when I brought my new copy of the movie up to the customer service desk, I brought along all of the other movies that I could clearly see were missing their plastic wrapper. I wasn't there when they opened all of them to check but at least it wasn't just my movie that was screwed with.

And now its Monday. I got to work at 7:30 and I've been working ever since. I have no idea how its 11 AM right now. I've hardly checked anything off on my checklist of too many things to do.

  • steff--congrats on your first 5k and your great time!  i did mine in just over 31 minutes too.  it was a great accomplishment and i cannot wait to do the next race!  (i have a 5 mile race in june, a 5k and a 10k in july, and a HALF MARATHON in october!)

this weekend was a total bust.  flew up to toronto on saturday morning, had a fun night out on the town with my friend and a group of his friends.  worked allll day yesterday, so boring.  dinner out again last night.  today is not quite as boring and tonight i am having ethiopian food--one of my favorites!

leave tomorrow night and get back to VT at midnight...i cannot wait to be home and relax this weekend.

  • Oh, Nichole, that Walfart crap would burn my butt.

I don't like to go to the movies anymore because of the prices. I think it's completely insane.

  • Friday went to work then got home and immediately started doing laundry, 4 loads done and put up that day. Had to clean our bedroom, and do dishes and I was done with house work for Friday. My dad called me later in the evening and wanted to go to dinner so we went to a steak house, just the two of us which was cool because we never get to do that because of his girlfriend. Then I went to my MIL's to drop of some of my plastic totes for my BIL's wedding in two weeks. And I chated with her for an hour or so.

Saturday H had the day off (YAY!) so we slept until about 12:30 in the afternoon, yes 12:30! Took showers got ready for the day then made lunch at the house and my dad texted me and said he got a new truck so we packed up the pups and headed over to my dads and hung out there for a while. Then we headed to a near by lake to loook for camp sites for H b-day next weekend, it turns out the camp sites close to the water are closed for re-wiring, so no camping for us next weekend. It is entirely to hot to camp with no swimming. Then H droped me of at my dads again while he went to his uncles house who was in town for mothers day. Then we were planning the whole night to have people over but then we got home at like 10 that evening and we laid in bed and said how about we rent a movie and don't have people over!

Sunday, we got up and headed to MIL to get packed to go to the lake and tan and eat lunch. We were out there until about 4:30 then headed back home to shower and get ready to go to dinner with my mom. We didn't even get to this brazilian steak house (Estancia Churrascaria) until about 8 o'clock because it was on the south side of Austin (we live very north). I had never been to a brazilian steak house before and it was so different, I loved it. A little expensive (200$ for 3 people) so it would be good for a special occasion dinner. Me and H didn't get home until 10:30 and went to sleep at 11:30 or so.

Ok that turned out to be very long, sorry!

  • LTB - that sucks, but you got your movie eventually I hope?  We don't go to the movie theater anymore, it's just way too expensive and the last few times we went there were so many people texting, letting their cell phones ring, etc.

jedaniel - I looove Brazilian steakhouses.  I keep trying to get Jeff to go during Restaurant Week here, where it would be $35 per person instead of $55 (or $60 or something) but they book up so fast on the weekends and we haven't made a weekday work yet.  boo.  Now I want to go!

  • Weekend was busy but good. Saturday - after the dog and I ran, I went to Lowe's to buy a security screen door for our front door, 2 flowering plants, finished laundry and planted the flowering plants (one jasmine trellis and another perennial). yesterday i finished painting our master bedroom and it looks really good! Just need to touch up the trim and paint the master bathroom (well when we have extra $ I'll buy paint).

So my boss is in France this week and I'm hoping it's not too crazy while she's out. Time will tell. Anyway, hope everyone has a good Monday (even though I'd rather be at home).

  • Happy Monday! It is raining here this morning and I am actually glad. I can get stuff done in the house and not feel like I should be outside enjoying the sun.

Moleson - I got burnt Friday and Sunday. My darn pasty white, Finnish skin.

Saturday DH and I attempted to run errands in the morning and tried out a new (to us) coffee shop that was amazing. We then hit the road and got out of town to celebrate DH's birthday. We went to a brewery for lunch and enjoyed beer, sandwiches, and dessert. Bummed around town there and then headed up to the town we got married in. We went flower shopping at a nursery then walked on the beach and played in the ice water that is Lake Superior. That night, after quick changes in the bushes by the beach, we went for dinner at our rehearsal dinner venue. It was fantastic, we ate too much, drank too much, and definitely spent too much, but it was completely worth it.

Sunday we met up with my mom, grandma, MIL and FIL for brunch at the local fire hall. It was nice to spend some time together, but then leave to spend our day together since it was DH's birthday, but we both worked last night. We got some yard work done and then both left for work. When I was done I surprised DH with a pizza at his office.

I still haven't made his birthday cake since there has been zero time. Hopefully today I will be baking, doing laundry, and cleaning.

  • Weekend was amazing. We headed down to my old roots (Jacksonville, FL) Friday afternoon and hung out with some old family friends. We went to a baby shower  Saturday morning. SN: Longest baby shower EVER. It was at Olive Garden and everything just took forever. Then we hit up the beach for a few hours. The weather was amazing and the water felt great (once you got used to it). Then we headed to Joe's Crab Shack for supper. Yum!

Sunday we got up and headed to the beach again and left there about 4 then stopped at some outlets but only made it to one store before they closed. Boo 6 o'clock closing time. However, Jeremy found some GAP jeans for $16 and I got a shirt for my niece.

We got home and I watched Army Wives and read a little before calling it a night.

Tonight I'm headed to the gym after work and then figuring out what to cook for supper.

    Morning ladies!

Had our hardwood flooring consult on Friday afternoon, which was good.  We like this maple butterscotch color.  The only problem is that we had major sticker shock when we saw their install estimate - only $300 less than the materials!  Um, we'll be trying for a second opinion.

Saturday we went to my sister's, an (ugh) 3 hour drive.  We were supposed to watch her kids play baseball, but the game was forfeited by the other team because they didn't have enough players in town.  Blah blah, lumpy sofa bed, morning sickness, weird well water made my hair like straw and it's still not normal, blah.  Glad to be home.  Stick out tongue

    Go Stef, that's exciting!

Do you guys have a Costco membership?  Our Costco has discount tickets that we buy.  We always go to the Regal because that's the theater near us that we like, but our Costco has other tickets as well.  I think it's $15 for two tickets, and they can be used on new releases and all.  You only pay a supplement for 3D or what's-that-special-speaker-called.

  • Yeah H eventually ended up with a dvd of Tron. I think I took the last one at Walmart that was actually packaged properly.

I've only been to the movies 4 times in the last 3 years. I just can't get over how expensive it is.

I'm going to have to check out this Costco discount. I have a membership through work. I wonder if that'd work.

Last movie we saw together was The Hangover in the theater before that was the Simpson Movie. I think in the 7 years we have been together we seen less than 10 movies in the theater together.

I do want to see the Hangover 2 and I think we will go see that in the theater because I was telling Greg and our friends that we need to start doing (not all the time but once in a while) something that doesn not involve drinking and me driving their drunk asses around. All the boys agrees which I thought was very sweet.

  • My mom gets discount tickets at Costco, it's a good deal.

For us it's not just the cost, though it's a big factor.  It's the a-holes in the theater.  If Costco sold tasers with those discount tickets, maybe we would start going again!  But we were never huge movie people anyway, and with Netlix and a big TV at home we're quite content.

  • DH and I spent all day Saturday cleaning the house.  He invited the IL's for lunch on Mother's Day.  I also baked a cake - from a portuguese recipe.  I was really trying!  We rewarded ourselves by going to see Thor.  I love seeing movies in theaters - I always leave with a renewed sense of purpose.  I just wish I could focus it.

On Sunday, we had lunch with the IL's.  I was a little annoyed by MIL.  I went to the trouble of baking - deliberately picked a recipe that wasn't too sweet.  And she brings over fruit.  And then slices it up because she didn't want cake.  And then I spent the rest of the day watching Castle season 2 discs, and DH tried to get his new laptop to work.

I brought the leftover cake to work and it's already been finished off.  I got a lot of rave reviews - and several "you should open a bakery" comments.  Here's a question - coworker said she once worked up a business plan to open a bakery.  She never followed through on it for several reasons.  Would it be weird if I asked her for a copy (to see what it looks like, in case I want to try)?

  • Hey ladies!!

Congrats to our runners this weekend!

    Friday night we lounged around.

Saturday morning E, my mom and I went to the Women's Run. There were over 9000 women there! It was a sea of yellow and it was so inspirational! There was a 99 yr old that finished the 2 mile. Very cool.

After womens run E and I went grocery shopping and took a nap. Then she went out to my moms and I headed off to Toby's remotes from 3-5 and then from 6-8. Then we went dancing ;-)

Yesterday we went to a cute little town about an hour away with my fam for the best pizza ever and an old school candy store.
