I getting the randoms started early, since tomorrow will be a busy day for me.
I forgot to tell you all that I booked our family summer vacation. We are staying in BFE IL, ha ha! I actually looking forward to it though. We are staying at a resort through my CW timeshare. I figured it will be nice to relax and enjoy quality time with the kids. We will take day trips to Naperville and the Brookfield Zoo. I think in all, we will be going to three zoos, a children's musuem, and a botanical garden (I had to pout to get my way on that one).
The only bad thing is that is is 15 minutes from the nearest town. I might be cooking more dinners than I would care too. But with the munchkins, its not like going out to dinner is relaxing.
So what are your vacation plans for this summer.
Re: Starting Friday Randoms early
That sounds like a great vacation plan - I love "do nothing" vacations
We have no plans this year. But I plan on lots of trips to the beaches around here, so the weather better cooperate!
No vacation plans here. Too much uncertainty in our lives. We will be making 2 trips to the east side of the state in June. One in early June to see my littlest sister graduate. Then at the end for her open house, and we're having Baby Rebel's 1st birthday the next day.
H really wants to take Baby Rebel to the beach this summer, so we'll have to work that into the schedule.
My Profile
We spend a lot of time at Higgens Lake during the summer, and take a week with that as a jumping off spot. I'd love to get in a trip to TN and KY state parks this summer, but I don't think that's going to happen.
My random thought: the gardening board is getting cliquey and kind of bristly. Ha. I didn't see that coming.
AND - in getting ready for a garage sale, I went through the stacks of records that were left in the house when Jim bought it (from his grandparents estate). I found a ton of fun stuff including a record on how to talk to your son and daughter about sex. There's a booklet. The first drawing in the boy book is of a pregnant woman.
Related ?: have any of you had any luck selling records at a store or at a garage sale or online?
Ha ha. I never even knew there was a gardening board!!
Looking forward to our weekend bike tour in July. We would love to get to Mackinac Island, but I think we'll just stick to parent cottages and probably drive M22. Love summer!
We have a friend getting married in Portland, OR, in July. Going to the wedding has turned into an epic, 5,00-mile, 14-state road trip and I am so excited! An added perk is that we'll only have to spend $150 for lodging the whole time (unless something disastrous happens, but it won't), because we know so many friends & family along the way. I can't wait.
I didn't sleep at all last night. Gracie collapsed yeterday evening.
We are pretty sure it is her heart. Her gum's were all gray and her tongue turned blue. I have just been waiting for the vet to open. I cannot lose her right now. She is only 3, damn it.
As for vaca's, we plan to go to Higgins Lake. ANd that is the extent of it. We will go up for a long weekend over memorial, and then if things still look good with the pregnancy we want to get up there one time in June. And the plan is to hopefully, get up there a few more times after the little guy is born.
What a great wife you are! What ball parks are you going to?
Your road trip sounds awesome! That is very cool that you know so many people.
Ditto to all of this. We have no money, so that means no vacations.
We are going to Florida in October for my grandpa's 90th birthday party, but that won't be a complete vacation.
Oh no!!!! I'll be thinking of you. Has she had problems before? Are heart issues common with that breed?
Just reading everybody's plans is getting me excited for summer. :-)
I don't know if you call 3 or 4 day weekend getaways "vacations," but for those we have currently planned: Detroit, The UP (Memorial Day), Chicago, Milwaukee, Grayling area and Virginia. We'll probably throw in a lakeshore hiking trip too.
Our bigger vacation this summer will be hiking the Teton Crest Trail and then exploring Yellowstone for a few days.
Oh no, I am so so so sorry.
I remember when you got Gracie as a pup. I hope everything is ok. I'll be thinking of you guys!
Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. I hope everything turns out okay - please keep us posted. ((hugs))
Mira, I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie! I'll be thinking about you. If it is her heart, hopefully they'll be able to put her on medication and she'll be good to go. I know you and I have talked about this before, but I can't say enough about the cardiologists at MSU's vet hospital. Dr. Sanders is my favorite, but they're all good. Actually, we're due to head back that way for a check-up in the next month or two.
GRSP, sounds like you found some very interesting records!
We don't have any vacations planned this summer. We will be heading up north several times though. One of which is for a family reunion with my extended family which I'm really looking forward to. I'm in charge of planning one of the day's festivities. It has to work for people ages 12 to 80 and be very inexpensive. I'm thinking yard game Olympics and a BBQ. I haven't figured out all of the details yet for yard game Olympics though, and I'm concerned that it might become to confusing logistically.
Thanks guys. Our appt is in 1/2 hr, I'll let you know what they say.
Kasa, thanks, I was going to ask who you guys saw at MSU. No matter what comes of today's appt I am asking for a referral to a cardiologist.
GVSUB- yeah heart problems are common with boxers.
We've seen all three -- Olivier, Pelosi, and Sanders. Personally, I think that Pelosi and Sanders were the best at working with us and answering our questions. I think all three are very knowledgeable and good at what they do though. I trust them all with Jinx's care.
Mira-so sorry about the pup
T&P!
I am leaving in less than two weeks with my H and bestie for an overnight trip in Chicago. I'm crazy excited about this!
It's Top Gun Day! 25 years ago the movie Top Gun was released in theaters. Anybody up for flying to the danger zone?

Thanks all. I thought I would just pop on to update, and then I am taking a much needed nap. But basically we don't know anything (which I expected). He took a bunch of blood work, and we should have the results tomorrow. We meet with a local Cardiologist on Tuesday. If need be we will then referred to MSU.
Can I just say I love my vet though. He gave me his personal cell number, and I am to call him anytime if she collapses again. I just thought wow, you really care!
How nice of your vet! Keep us updated.
Tigers game, and then on to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Have you been? I'm kind of proud of myself for coming up with the idea. I'm hoping he enjoys it...lodging in that area is crazy expensive, and you can't find deals on Hotwire or Priceline because there aren't any chain hotels in the area. At least we can stay with our Canadian friends on the way there.
It's Friday13th. Anyone have any spooky things happen
I saw a (dead
) black cat in the road on my way to work this morning.
Steph, my heart is racing thinking about Gracie. I can't imagine what that would be like. I'm happy your vet is on top of it and hopefully you will get some answers soon!
I had a deer dart out right in front of me at full speed. It was really scary.
Two seconds later, a chipmunk did the same thing.
I was shocked by the deer, and then prepared myself for tears two seconds later because I thought the chipmunk was a goner, but he survived! Whew.
And yes, I cry when I cause road kill.
