  • showering in the middle of the day as a SAHM always creates a dilemma. if you're staying home for the rest of the day do you dirty another set of clothes or just go ahead and put on pjs at 3pm?

If you are staying home for the rest of the day, I'd do the pjs.

I seriously thinking about calling up the surgical center where I had my surgery and b!tching them this afternoon.  They haven't filed the claim with my insurance yet, and I had the surgery 3 weeks ago.  They overcharged me by about $300 on the day of the surgery, and wouldn't listen to me when I asked them to call the insurance.  If they would file my claim, I would have meet the out of pocket max for the year.  Not to mention that they owe me a refund.  Since they have waited so d@mn long to file the claim another doctor has file their claim and now the surgical center will owe me even more money!  My gyno/surgeon filed his claim the same day as the surgery, and it has already been processed and paid!  This surgical center is ridiculous!

So sorry you are having to deal with this.  I just got my EOB for my nerve block, and I overpaid the surgical center by almost $600.  I've called them 3 times so far and have yet to find anyone who is willing to talk to me.

I have had many a time where I have shed the pjs, showered, then put on a new set of pjs.

  • Last week Cooper saw a photo of my dad in the hallway and asked "who that?"  I said "Paw paw."

And now that's the only name he remembers?  I've been trying to get him to say Nana, Sassy, Pops for months.  Months.  In one day he remembers Paw Paw?  Every day he walks by, points and says "Paw Paw."

  • The battery in the thermostat at one of our rentals went out. What did they do? If you guessed "replace the batteries," you'd be wrong. The tried to replace the thermostat themselves instead, crossed wires, blew fuses, components, and the circuit board. A $3 repair - or a free phone call - would have fixed it. Instead, we're out hundreds of dollars. I'm beyond pissed.

The house across the street from us was renovated then rented (it's for sale now).  DH got to know the two guys (investors) who did the reno, now he does some work for them.   They called him to go "fix" the AC across the street.  He walked in, the screen on the thermostat had the little low battery sign, popped in some new AAs and WOW IT WORKS.  People are dumb.

  • Did you look in the car in case you never brought it in?

Any chance A took it?  I found my debit card in Maddie's block box once.  Of course she was younger.  But I have also been missing my necklace that her dad got me when I gave birth to her and I found it in an old back pack that has been shoved in a closet - I cleaned out the closet today and almost chunked the bag into a garage sale pile but thought to look through it first. Indifferent

Any chance it is in plastic bags from the grocery that you pile and reuse?

Any chance it was laid on the coffee table and might have fallen under the couch (or any other similar under-the furniture scenario?).

    Ack!

  • The next time my FIL tries to kiss me hello I may just scream.

DH's ENTIRE family knows how uncomfortable I am with kissing/hugging people.    I use C as a crutch by holding her now when we get toplaces so I can avoid all the hugs.

FIL can't seem to get the memo.  He seems to think this means he can kiss me.  Which is even worse than a hug to me.

He does not get the clue when I basically turn my head as far away as possible so he's basically kissing my ponytail.  It's awkward for everyone involved.

2 bags of Sonic ice in the freezer - C is happily munching on a cup right now, and I'll enjoy some later.  WIN all around!

  • Petty I know but MIL just picked and ate both of the strawberries on the plant.  They were ready about a day ago and even though I know C wouldn't eat them, I still wanted him to at least get to pick them.

I didn't even get to eat one.  Yes I know there will be more and he can have those.  But there are also 2 packs of store bought strawberries in the refrigerator that she asked me to buy.  Vent over.

When you get stuck behind a truck with big ole truck nuts in your face for an extended period, is that the equivalent of a traffic t-bagging?  Just asking.

Almond - I'd be furious. I felt guilty eating the cherry tomato off our own plant because DH does most of the work in growing the damn things... but he doesn't really eat cherry tomatoes so I got over the guilt.  And if I had some in the fridge I wouldn't have eaten it without asking him first.

Starlette - have you ever thought of a secret handshake?  Maybe you can invent one with your FIL.  It seems for them, touch is a huge love language.  What a nightmare that the way they most want to express affection is the way you are most likely to cringe!  I don't know if a secret handshake will do it but it could be a bonding opportunity.  Just an idea.

I wake up between 2 and 3 almost every night.  I didn't plan for my day today so I actually got on the computer to check my calendar so I can get up earlier and prepare outfit/hair accordingly if necessary.  Now I cannot go back to sleep! Argh.

I am also at a loss.  My FIL just lost his mother.  The funeral was Saturday.  He is taking it VERY hard.  I don't know how to comfort him or express my condolensces because what I want to focus on is she lived to be 95 and had a very long healthy life.  I feel like we should all be so lucky to still have our mothers in our lives when we turn 72 (his age).  Those thoughts aren't exactly comforting for him (so obviously I keep them to myself).  I tell him I'm sorry for his loss and he is in my prayers but that seems hollow somehow.
