**Interview a Nestie**

So the first Nestie to be interviewed will be...AMELIA, since she was the 1st to repsond.

You can fire questions at Amelia re: her work, or home life.  The Nestie of the day can pass, or DD at the end of the day if there is too much personal stuff or venting about a boss, etc.

At the end, the nestie picks someone for the next day.  The next morning, that nestie will post an "Interview a nestie" post and so forth.

Tell us your title?: Recruitment Advertising Specialist. In other words, I do the employment section of the paper.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you/or you have seen happen at work?: I get hit on a lot at work. I sit in the front by the receptionist so I'm pretty visible. Just last week, a very dirty, hippie looking guy came in wanting directions. I was trying to help him and he said "I'm sorry, I got distracted. You're just so beautiful!" and I literally laughed in his face.

What is hard about being a working mom? What do you like about it?: The hardest thing is that I miss things. I missed her first step. I missed her first big owie. It's a struggle. But, I do like working and I don't know that I could be a full time SAHM because I like feeling productive at work, and I like having those little moments of me time during my commute. It makes me appreciate and savor my time with her more, I think.

The weirdest thing didn't happen to me but I witnessed it. A man came in and was arguing with a CW over the content of his classified ad. He got very angryw ith her to the point where he got physical and we had to call the police. Charges were pressed, etc. It turned out this individual was a county judge! It was crazy. He was charged with assault and went to jail.

  • Tell us about your craziest/weirdest coworker.

Tell us about your craziest/weirdest coworker.

Oh man. This is tough because they're all crazy! I'm going to have to go with Frances. She's an individual, that's for sure. She's in her 50's, a big lady, very bubbly and funny. She always has crazy colored hair, like purple or burgundy. She loves to eat and loves to cook, and she's from California so she makes the world's best enchiladas. She has four grown children but she still babies them all. Her youngest daughter has a daughter, and is a single mom, so Frances is always bringing her granddaughter Bella to work with her. None of us mind because Bella is very sweet. She's extremely neurotic and I am always telling her to calm down. She gave us all a scare last week by landing herself in the hospital, but fortunately it's only her gall bladder.

Everyone in my office is older than I am, like old enough to be my mother. They treat me as such, and sometimes it's annoying, but most of the time I don't mind.

  • What did you want to be when you were little? Is your job now anything like that?

Oh lord no. Not even close. I wanted to be a famous singer when I was little. I wanted to be on Broadway.

I can. I was in choirs and singing groups all through high school and college, as well as church singing groups until I was in my early 20's. I rarely sing in public any more, just the occasional karaoke. I sing to my daughter every day.

  • If you weren't at your current job, what field would you rather be in?

In general, what makes Ames so awesome?

Not so far. We thought long and hard about it and discussed it at length several times before we went through with it, and I know we made the right decision for us. We feel that our family is complete and that we will be able to provide Ellie with more opportunities in her life (opportunities that neither of us were given) if we keep it to just her.

I'm sure that sometime down the road, I will probably feel twinges of baby fever, like when a friend has a baby or I see a tiny baby out in public. But I will just remind myself of the reasons we decided to go through with our decision to keep Ellie an only child.

  • What activities can you picture Ellie doing when she's older? Do you hope that she does a certain sport or instrument?

What is the most fun part about being a parent so far? What do you look forward to the most?

I often wish I had gone through student teaching and found a job teaching jr. high or high school history. My original intention with not doing that was to go to grad school and become a professor of history, but obviously that didn't happen. I would love to pursue that again someday.

Also, I wish I were a talented and diligent enough blogger to make money at it.

What makes Ames so awesome? Hmm. I have trouble seeing myself as being awesome. I think I'm a good, loyal friend. I think I'm an excellent mother. I try my best to be a good wife. In general, I just try to have a positive attitude, treat everyone with respect, and realize that I don't have to be perfect (something I really struggle with!)

  • What is your favorite physical feature about yourself and what would you change if you could about your physical appearance?

What is the most fun part about being a parent so far? What do you look forward to the most?

I do hope that she's interested in music, like I am. That's a bond that I shared with my father from a young age, and I would love to share that with her. My SIL is an excellent pianist and I would love for her to pass that on to Ellie.

I would also love for Ellie to be interested in some kind of sport, for the sheer exercise. I don't want a couch potato kid. I want her to be active and healthy. Judging from her inability to sit still now, and her love for playing catch, I'm thinking Softball?

The funnest thing about it is getting to teach her things and the excitement when she gets something right. Also, just being funny and silly with her, playing, and laughing with her. I hope we have this bond forever.

I really look forward to her personality developing even more and just finding out what kind of person she's going to be. She's so funny now and loves to goof off. I wonder, will she grow up to be a social butterfly? She also loves to try new foods, will she be a foodie? I even wonder about things like whether she will like boys, girls, or both. I just really look forward to finding out these things.

The favorite part is tough. I don't know! I think I am relatively pretty. So I guess...my face? Haha.

If I could change anything I would be slender, I would not have crazy hairs, and I would have better teeth.

  • imageDiamond_Doll:

I would HATE being a truck driver or something akin to that. I hate driving.

My favorite sound is Ellie's laugh.

    Fvck. Big Smile

  • Which past decade do you wish you had been alive (and like old enough to actually do things)?
  • imagelneuner09:

lemme pick another one:  If Ellie was a boy, what would you have named him?

Price Monroe. Price was Guy's Dad's middle name (he passed away in 2004), and Monroe is Guy's middle name. We like to use family names.

  • imagemz_zane:
Which past decade do you wish you had been alive (and like old enough to actually do things)?

the 1940's. America was all about the war effort, making our way our of the depression, and sort of developing the lifestyle that we're all accustomed to now. I think it would have been awesome to have been around for that, to have helped out with the war effort, to have seen things happen. Plus, I would've liked the simplicity of life in that era. No cell phones, no computers, no tv appeals to me in a way. I like the idea of living simply.

  • Here's Stees' questions:

Am I supposed to ask the questions here or there? There. :p

Whats your favorite thing to cook? Grilled steaks on the grill (okay, so Guy cooks those), corn on the cob, caprese salad, and strawberry shortcake.

Bake? Caramel crumb bars, of course!

Is having Guy work a different shift than you easier or harder than you thought? At first it was MUCH harder. It took us a long time to adjust to not seeing each other, and we fought a lot. But now we're used to it, and it's easy. The only thing that's really hard about it is finding time to go out and do things together.

Whats the craziest employment ad you've had to run? I once ran an ad for phone sex operators. I called the number listed in the ad just to find out what it said. it was a recording that said "can you talk sexy? do you like to make money and work from home? this is the job for you!" I laughed and laughed.

How much does an ad in the employment section cost at your paper? It varies depending on the length of the ad and/or the size of the box it's in, and also the length of time that the client would like it to appear in the paper, and if they want it to appear online. So, it can be as little as $20, or as much as a few thousand. ETA: The least expensive ad i've ever sold was $6. The most expensive ad I've ever sold was $5,250.

Whats your favorite flavor of ice cream? Chocolate Almond from Braum's.

Are you excited to come to PA in EXACTLY four months?? I knooow you are. Wahoo. I am so stoked. I can't wait!
