Re: Chit Chat? AW?

  • I can't even remember what my AW was anymore...oh well.

Anyone going to Taste of Dallas this weekend?

Hadn't planned on it. But that sounds fun. I may ask DH if he wants to go. Is it Friday and Saturday?

AW: I ended up making a 95 on the test that I was worried about from last week. I know, I know. I was so convinced I did awful!

Hmmm....I don't have much else today. But the "Chit Chat? AW?" with question marks made me chuckle. Stick out tongue

  • Good Morning Ladies,

I'm finally able to log back in.  This site is still so annoying to me.  I couldn't login yesterday for some reason. grrr.

I'll be at Taste of Dallas on Saturday afternoon/evening.  A friend of mine is doing his cooking demo at 4:30 then The Spazmatics are playing from 9:30-10:30.  They are so much fun! It be worth going just to see them.

Not that I need any food.  I've been totally slacking on the working out and not slacking on the eating.  So frustrating that my DH can gain weight and all his clothes still fit.  I go up 10 lbs and nothing fits.  Then pair  that with the fact he can drop weight by just thinking about working out.  Another grrrrr.

  • Great job on your exam Summer!!

    Told you!

Taste of Dallas is Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

  • Thank you Lauren!

And this may be a stupid question....but I've never been to the Taste of Dallas, or Taste of Addison/type events.

Once you pay at the door, do you have to pay for anything inside the events?

    I'm a "taste of" virgin.

I've never been to any of them either but from what I have researched, you have to pay between $1-$3 per sample.

That's what I thought when I found out you not only have to pay to get in, you have to pay for each food item.  We will see how we like it and hopefully we'll have fun!

Yeah, I asked DH and he said it sounds fun so we'll probably check it out Saturday night with SIL and her fiance if they want to go with us.

From reading the website info, looks like they have a lot more to do than just taste food so it should be fun.

I think we're going to try and ride the train. We'll see how that goes. haha. DART is normally pretty disappointing when it comes to special events.

  • I am here. I actually had to work this morning (the horrors!)

One of my eyebrows is wonky and it is killing me. I have this one unruly eyebrow hair that won't lay down. Normally I would just pluck it and be done but I have no tweezers here.

I started the Book Thief last night and read nearly 400 pages. I am going to finish it today. I find it really good. I have no idea what was decided for book club as I knew I was out this month, but great rec anyway Shannon!

I have been meal planning and I am really, really liking it. I made an elementary school-style calendar for the fridge which DH LOVES...lol. The worst part of cooking for me is thinking of what to cook each night, making sure we have the ingredients and especially remembering to thaw some meat out. I planned two weeks of dinners plus a few bonus meals in case we just really aren't feeling something on the day it is planned. It has made both shopping and cooking enjoyable. It's so easy to look at the calendar during dinner prep and pull the correct meat out of the freezer to thaw.

I am a thousand times better mood today. Yesterday was I think I was tired or something. Negative Nancy has left the building.

  • Summer - good job on your test!  And glad I made you chuckle.  I was just shocked that I logged in and nobody started today's thread yet!

This is WR, but funny, so I had to share.... A friend of mine is in a wedding this weekend.  It's really chaotic, and this is the third date they've set, and plans are constantly changing.  It's at 11am on Saturday, so hair & makeup is starting at 6am.  Then, the BMs are all wearing either red, teal, or yellow dresses, and then she wanted yellow shoes and jewelry in the other colors that their dress isn't.  Apparently yellow shoes are a problem... here's a tidbit of the email that my friend forwarded me: "I would also be accepting to black accessories as a last desperate resort.  This could be surprisingly cohesive considering the gentlemen sharing the platform with you will be in black as well."  Because every bride wants their wedding party to be "surprisingly cohesive."

    That's flipping annoying!

Oh, so I got a stellar deal yesterday at Bath & Body Works. They are doing a Buy 2 get 1 free and I bought 1 perfume which I'm in love with, and 2 body butters and got up to the counter and one of the body butters rang up for $1.50! She said I had to go pick another one or I wouldn't get the buy 2 get 1 free deal, so I got another one, and still got the other one I had picked out prior for $1.50! She said she had no idea why it was ringing up 90% off.

So I got $75 worth of stuff for about $45! I was stoked.

I know that's nothing to you coupon ladies, but that was exciting for me!

  • Congrats Summer!

We are meeting with a contractor today to see if we can redo the kitchen. FI is more excited then I am I think. This guy goes to our church so I'm hoping he's trustworthy. Is there anything advice you girls have to this?

    Hmm

So everyone is wearing yellow shoes? Even the girls wearing red dresses??

    FI!?!?!?! Wink

It's ok, I almost caught myself doing that a few times too.

  • Deepthi - I'm pretty sure you mean DH, not FI.  ;)

At the tast of Addison: I paid to park, I paid to get in and I paid for any food I wanted to taste.  But, it was a lot of fun.

Leslie - you just reminded me that I forgot to put the chicken in the refrigerator to thaw.  I always forget to do that.

I really enjoyed it when I planned our meals.  It meant saving money (because we wouldn't eat out and usually I would only do it with things on sale: getting a fryer chicken for $2.50 which would make a few meals) and not eating out, which hopefully made healthier meals.  Plus you know what goes into things.  However, I have been so lazy doing this the last few months, I have failed big time.  DH pointed out last night that I don't even cook anymore, which is weird.  I used to cook every single meal.  Gosh, I have become lazy.

Oh, thanks for the reminder Lacey.  Parking is $12, I think.

Yes, I do believe so.  Except my friend, who I think is the only yellow dress - she's wearing teal shoes, I think.  I cannot wait to see pictures :)

  • I'm here but I'm dealing with my first bit of m/s today so not really all here.  I have run to the bathroom 3 times in the last hour but its been a false alarm thank goodness.  I have also been extremely light-headed today.  That probably isn't helping my stomach at all.

Another thing I have noticed with this whole being pregnant thing...my face is beyond oily.  I have always had dry skin but now it is nasty oily.  I'm so not use to this.  At least it's not causing me to break out!

Leslie, my mom use to do that when we were younger and said it made everything so much easier on her when we were kids because she wouldn't get the "whats for dinner" question every night.  She also knew exactly what to get at the store.  I think I'm gonna have to start doing this.

  • DH is working 48 hours this weekend :( I got invited out with a group of girls Saturday night, and call me antisocial, but I really just don't want to go. BUT if I don't its rude, and people stop asking you to go anywhere. Dinner was fine, but now they want to go to a bar after called Roys Back Porch in Corsicana, and I really don't care for the place. Its really smokey and its lots of trashy 21 year olds that just turned 21 and can leagally drink, and lots of 40 year old women who THINK they are 21.

  • Huge pet peeve:

Don't get in the left lane on the highway and camp out at 60-65mph. The left lane is for passing, and I can't utilize it when you're going the same speed as the person I'm trying to pass.

  • Leslie - What did you do to use to organize your meals? I need to start doing this.

All - I didn't even notice I wrote FI. I called him my boyfriend last night and he was asking why I demoted him..lol. I have to get the titles under control.

I want to join the book club! Has anyone read the hunger games series?

Too funny on the demotion, Deepthi!
