My boss is out tomorrow and Monday, so it's practically Friday for me. Ha.
Re: Almost Friday Randoms
I'm really sad that my grandpa is moving back to Michigan. This really is the beginning of the end for him. I'm not ready for him to be gone.
On the other hand, I'm thankful that I'll get to see him whenever I want now since he is moving down the road from me.
Ughhhhh why do grandparents have to get old?
After the name post yesterday it got me really anxious about naming our baby! We know that she won't be 100% named until she's born, but I'm afraid I won't love her name or that I'll regret not using another name. I know we have time, but I go back and forth everyday on names. I'm so indecisive. I think that's my issue.
Even if you're going back and forth on names, I imagine it's between a few names that you really like - so you can't go wrong. And really, there is no wrong in baby-naming - whatever you pick will be great.
I think that once you see that little person, you'll know which name is right. We had a "top 3" list, with my favorite as the frontrunner, and when he came out the doc asked who it was and I just knew. Since then he doesn't seem/look/act like ANY of the other names. It'll fit just fine.

Molly, I'm with you on the grandparents thing. As someone who lost a grandfather and a great-grandmother this year, I tried more than anything to be grateful that I lived so much of my life with them.
Wop, I agree with Juli and Kate--you'll know when you see her and whatever name you pick will just fit.
It looks like my tile backsplash project is going to be shelved for another project. We are probably going to buy ceiling fans for our three bedrooms to take advantage of one last personal use discount through my work.
Since the budget is getting increasing limited, it would be somewhat irresponsible to spend the money on both projects.
Maybe next year or over Christmas/Spring Break...
I wish I had thought of some of this stuff last summer. In my defense, I did suggest ceiling fans to L last fall and he wasn't having it.
Mol, it's hard seeing grandparents that way. :-( It will be nice for him to be closer to family though. I hope you get to spend a lot of time with him.
I feel you. Our kitchen is a bit dated and ugly, and all it really needs is backsplash and new countertops, but there are too many things that take priority, like a new furnace.
We put ceiling fans in two of the bedrooms recently and they are AWESOME.
I'm sorry for your losses, and very impressed (and envious) that you still had great-grandparents around. Mine have been gone for quite some time.
I hope so!
I had some friends recently tell us.."Yeah, don't plan on her looking like one name. We thought that we would just 'know', too, but it was actually just as difficult once she was born". Sweet, thanks for the encouragment. At least they were honest. Haha.
Good to know about the fans. I hear only positive feedback from anyone who has them. It just seems more practical to do the fans since I can get about $850 worth of fans for ~$300 and they save energy costs (run AC and heat less). The backsplash doesn't serve any real purpose other than "prettiness" and we are planning to do a huge remodel of the kitchen in ~5 years anyway, so it was going to be a temporary thing.
I misplaced my debit card months ago, and have been trying to survive without it because I know if I get a new one I will lose it. I have issues. I lose everything.
So I couldn't find my credit card last week and needed to get gas, so I borrowed H's debit card, much to his chagrin. He didn't want me to have it because of my track record.
And wouldn't ya know, I lost it.
I'm so ashamed!
I agree with your friends and never understand how babies actually look like names when they are born. To me, they look like squished wrinkly yet adorable bald balls of sweetness.
Tennyson certainly didn't look like a Tennyson when he was born. He just looked like a cute baby (biased much? lol). But the more he grows and the more personality he gets, the more his name fits him.
Whatever name you choose will be great! Don't worry. You won't regret it.
Good morning.
Molly, I'm sorry to hear that your grandpa isn't doing as well as before. That's so, so hard. I've been through that this past year and it's rough. I'm sure it will be nice to have him around more though.
Katers, just out of curiosity, was C the frontrunner name that you had in mind?
Diana, sorry to hear that the new backsplash isn't going to happen right now. That's a bummer. I think ceiling fans are heavenly though. We got one for our bedroom a few years ago, and now I can't imagine not having it.
This is kinda hilarious. Do you know about the Starbucks iPhone app? I think it stores your cc information so you don't need to pull out a card to pay for your order. I wonder if they have something like that for life in general...might be useful for you.
I know, me too
I hate budget cuts!
Even when the cuts are my "fault."
(Haha, I really am a "tax and spend" liberal!)
I just want to keep getting whatever I want. It's going to be a very rude awakening when we go to the cash allowance system next week. Despite both of us saying last year that we should move to the in-school budget to prepare and save lots of money, we couldn't do it. Well, now we don't get a choice.
Wow, kudos to you. Dude, I would totally pass out. I cannot handle watching medical procedures. *shudder* I even get a little qweezy if I cut myself while chopping vegetables.
Oh man, that would be amazing!!!
H is really upset with me right now, and I don't blame him.
On the plus side, I did find my credit card. And I ordered me a new debit card last week. Now I have to get him one too.
Awww that is so sweet!!!
Wow! I didn't know that any hospitals would let you do that (then again, I know very little about the subject). That would be quite the experience.
This. I'm glad it was cool for you, but I'm with Molly, it would never fly for me. I nearly pass out if I cut myself in the time between noticing I'm bleeding and searching for a bandaid.
That is sooo awesome! I wish I could have seen mine. How cool...can't wait to hear your birth story!
Molly, so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I had such a hard time seeing my grandmother in her last days. I wish she could have lived forever. Bummer about the debit card.
Wop, we chose a name before hand and I personally could not have done it any other way. Noah, too, came out looking like a very cute squishy ball that could have had any name and he would have been perfect.
DP...ceiling fans are AWESOME!
YAY for sleep...it is my favorite past time
