Discussion of the Day -Do you know any couples that originally met at a bar or club and are still to
Re: Discussion of the Day -Do you know any couples that originally met at a bar or club and are still to
Yes. Yes we did.
One of my finer moments in life, obviously.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
SSW - oh, honey.. I met John at Ned Devine's in Herndon, we were both drunk, he tried to kiss me at the bar, I said I want to kiss you someplace else. we went out to my car, I drive him home. Back in the Knot days, I was (not so?) affectionately known as the Nest Slut.
It all works out but it is NOT advice I give to my daughter!
we should have a Sluts Anonymous meeting.
"What is a week-end?"
Ha ha--DH and I met at LuLu's too! I think I was 26 at the time too and we got married 5 years later. Have now been married 4 years and have 2 kids.
My friend has been online dating for 10 years or so and just recently said something like: "I am so done online dating. I want to meet someone in the traditional way. You know, in a bar."
The one couple I know met in a bar are still together and getting married next year! They met in a bar in resort town and she took him back to her room for a one night stand. Three years later they are engaged to be married!
We met in grad school, in scanning electon microscope class. He had me at backscatter electrons...ahh nerd love!
QueSrah is right, I met my DH at Mister Days (late night!) in Arlington...klassy! His friend came over to talk to one of my friends then he (my H) came over with a big tray of shots for us all. They happened to be melon ball shooters, which we served at our wedding reception.
We pretty much did nothing but party at bars or elsewhere for the first couple years that we were together. Neither one of us were looking for anything really serious at the time, so we were just reveling in having a good time together...those were some seriously fun years. This October will be 10 years since we met.
We've been married for 5 years now
Happy anniversary, P&J!!!

My parents! She walked up to him at a bar and asked him who he was. Apparently at the time he was dating (only a few dates, nothing serious yet) her best friend! We like to get on her case about it every so often, since it was kinda a b!tchy move, going out with the guy your best friend was just dating. This year they will celebrate their 33rd anniversary, so it all worked out for the best I suppose!
PS -- Happy anniversary!!

It'll be 10 years in October since we met too!
DH and I met in a bar. I don't know if we know anyone else who did.
I'm not really a hang-out-in-bars type, but an organization I was involved in was having an event there. I was on the board, along with several good friends, and the friend who was in charge of the event guilted me in to going with the board-members-should-support-eachother card.
DH was a tv news producer at the time, and his show had a story about the event. He is a hang-out-in-bars type, so he decided to check it out when he finished work.
He says he noticed me, and was trying to think of a way to talk to me. He saw me getting my coat to leave and figured he'd better talk to me before I did. I was wearing my board nametag, and my last name was similar to a prominent lawyer in my hometown that he knew through work. So, he came up and said "are you C's daughter?" I said "no" and was actually really taken aback because randomly my dad was coming to see me the next day for the first time in years (which is why I was leaving - to get my apartment cleaned up).
Anyway, DH started asking me questions about the organization, (I guess to keep talking to me) and being a good board member, I answered them and invited him to our next membership gathering the following Monday & gave him my card. He didn't show up, but he emailed me to say he'd been really busy with breaking news. I invited him to another event (still just trying to be a good board member).
We ended up going for coffee before that event, I became interested in dating him from that conversation and we've been married 5.5 years.
yep my hubby's cousin..they are more like brothers...him and his wife are renewing their vows in September...together since the 90's
they met because he was dancing his butt off on the dance floor and she felt someone should at least dance with him ...her friend didn't and they've been together ever since...life is so funny...I would have never met my hubby if I didn't let go of my rule "not to date" anyone from work:)
I was with my BFF at Heaven and Hell when this dude came up to her and started dancing with her. I saw him slip his business card into her jeans back pocket, which I thought was obnoxious. I didn't like him. I remember his friend came up to dance with me, and I whipped him in the face with my ponytail intentionally...since I don't like dancing with strangers.
Long story short, they went out on a date that weekend. They've been together for 10 years and married for 6, with one daughter. They are the perfect match (and I like him now).
I met my DH at LuLu's. We went back the night that they closed for nostalgia.
We have been together 7 years and will celebrate our 5 year anniversary in September.
