Re: Say say say- Anything
My inner nerd wants to have a Star Wars themed party for Cooper's birthday so that I can buy and use these.
Do it!!
Good luck and blessings!
you know how everyone in the NE points and laughs when Texas shuts down for an ice storm? I feel like we finally get to pay them back with this hurricane. Not that I want it to be bad, but I feel like they really don't know how bad it could be.
You never want anyone t get hurt but I'm thinking this Cat 2 hurricane is right up there with our ice covered roads. It's a real situation when you are not prepared for it. For us it's ice/snow for them its a baby hurricane.
If only we could switch storms upon request.
I think that's going to be the worst part. They don't know what to do or how to prepare and I think that's going to cause the most damage.
But on the other hand I'm super annoyed with the news (Today Show, I'm looking at you) acting like this is the end for the entire East coast because of this storm. I'm pretty sure they weren't doing all this panicking when Ike was looming down on us. It's going to be just as bad there as it was here. The population of New York isn't any more important than the population of Houston or New Orleans.
I don't think most places knew how bad it was!!
I wake up when the kids get me up which is usually 6:30-7. I throw on comfy gym clothes, my glasses instead of contacts and no makeup. I do a little work in the morning and then will be taking the kids to school at 9 and coming back. I also take a lunch and that is when I run during the day which justifies the gym clothes to me : ) On Fridays when I physically have to go in the school and pick them up instead of car line I will often just throw a hat on.

No, I agree. But there weren't doing segments on hurricane preparedness on the Today Show with the host of This Old House when Ike was on the way here. (which is ridiculous by the way, this guy doesn't even really do home improvements on TOH, he's just the host)
I await the first broadcast from Jim Cantore.
I think it's time for me to start looking for a new job. I'm bored and the opportunities that I was assured when I started haven't happened after almost 4 years... I guess at least I can be picky since I do *have* a job! Anybody know of any IT (system admin/analyst) positions?
This makes me really sad because I really love the company as a whole... Just not so much what's going on with the project I'm a part of.
ETA: My boss knows I'm antsy and he actually supports me looking (and he mentioned that he would probably be looking soon too.)
My favorite uncle passed away suddenly last night. Any prayers you can spare for his wife, kids or my family would be much appreciated.
AP - I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Prayers and hugs.
Darva- It's great that your boss is supportive. At least you know that you'll have a great reference.
It will be really interesting to see how people (work) handle it. We were without power for 10+ days with Ike and my company is based in the Philadelphia area. NO ONE had a damn clue what we were going through down here. Every damn day I would get an email or phone call with "do you have power yet, because we really need xxxxxx to get done". No, I do not have power yet, I am squatting at a friends house who does, there is still no internet and I WILL EFFING TELL YOU WHEN I HAVE POWER AGAIN. I ended up going to IMFUN's in FW to work just to get them to shut the hell up (and maybe I was getting a little bored in Houston)...
Whew-that felt good!
I still have my shiv from my time in the joint. Don't make me shank you.
Thanks, and not that anyone would but please don't say anything on FB. my family would be weirded out that I mentioned it on the internet.
clare - i am so sorry.
Darva, my DH is an IT recruiter. send him your resume and put in the subject line that i referred you. it is no guarantee but he found something quickly for another nestie. if you go to my info page on FB you should see him listed as my husband, and his work email is on his profile. pm me over there if you just want me to send you his email address.

Ditto the angry Kimmer face!
AP - I am so sorry to hear that. T&P for your family.
I'm sure that you are all more than welcome to attend my MIL's Willow House party.
I'm sorry for your loss Clare.
I feel like Mikey at work. I appreciate the fact that others want to work with me but really I can't do everything. Go work with the girl who has nothing to do because no one want to work with her.
and we had fun! :-)
That's my plan if another should come!
I'm scared to say it but I believe potty training clicked with Abby. She's been pee-trained for a bit (sounds like a puppy) but we've had NO accidents for a few days. Thank goodness before I leave her with my MIL for a couple of weeks and before school starts next week!
