Celebration on the Grand Eve...Randoms

It was not cool when my alarm when off at 6am. I'm the type of person that when I'm up...I'm up.

I spent some time on google+ this AM and created a "Nestie" circle and added who I thought was nesties. I'm 50% sure I got the right people. As in I put 4 people in the circle but are 100% that 2 are actually nestie's. I'm not sure what to think about Google+ yet. It it trying to be like FB or something else. Between FB, G+, Twitter and Linkedin. I think I'm social media wiped out. Please no more.

Celebration on the Grand is this weekend. Anyone going out? Fireworks? Bands? Don't care?

Anyone getting involved in Fashion Night Out? That's starts tonight at 6pm

Has anyone else seen the West Michigan Fresh Guide? It a guide to Local Foods. It was free at the Library. It has a ton of listing of local farms & shops that grow or use local foods. I thought it was pretty cool.

Re: Celebration on the Grand Eve...Randoms

  • I have been on google+ exactly one time since I signed up. It feels like a huge effort to build a network. I must be really lazy. I made the switch 2 days ago to Chrome and love it. So far.

  • I always forget about Celebration on the Grand.  I won't be attending any of the events...it's another busy weekend for me.  Seriously, my weekends have been busier than my weeks!

     In other news....GO PACK GO!

  • I would also forget about Celebration on the Grand, if it weren't for the fact that I drive by them setting up everyday.  Still, I didn't figure it out until late yesterday.  I kept wondering what all the tents are for.  We might stop by -- B seems interested.

It's going to be a football weekend at our house too.  The Michigan/Notre Dame game should be good.  I'm a Notre Dame fan since Brian Kelly joined them.  And B is pumped for the Lions on Sunday.

Google+.... no.  I can't handle more than one major social network at a time.  First I was on Myspace, and resisted making the switch until finally I was convinced to join FB.  Then, I quit Myspace cold turkey.  It will probably be the same for Google+.  I'll stick with FB until it begins to die and all my friends are on Google+.

In other exciting news -- Friends is back on TV!  It's now on Nick at Nite.  This is very exciting to me.  Love that show.

  • Has anyone here by chance ever tried surfing?

I'm feeling ambitous and kind of want to take a lesson when we're in Hawaii.  Granted, I said that before we went last time and ended up chickening out after I saw how far they had to paddle out.  My interest is re-emerging now though.

  • I'm still mainly using FB. I've tweeted 2x and Have only made 1 post on G+.

We only do the fireworks for Celebration.

This house is not a sports house but I still "cheer" on my family's teams when I can. Sorry Kasa but I hope that my Wolverine's take a nice bite out of your fighting amish, oopps  I mean irish. ;)

I still like to watch friends when I can. Fox 17 was airing reruns in the afternoon but that may have changed again.

  • I also seem to have forgotten about Celebration on the Grand.  I actually don't know what I'm doing this weekend, because Andy won't tell me - a belated b-day celebration/present I'm guessing.  All I know is that I have to be ready to do something/go somewhere at noon on Friday.  He said he'd tell me more as it becomes necessary.  I honestly have no clue if we're traveling somewhere, seeing friends, etc.

I'm also in the camp that used Google+ one time and haven't looked at it since.

Kasa - I watched Friends on Nick at Nite on the airplane on Monday evening.  I was happy it was on, but it also made me feel kind of old. :-P

I kinda feel the same way. I'm not sure I like how "open" it is. I was able to add people to my "circle" weather I know them or not. So I feel a little bit funny about that.

Have to admit that I only read the first sentence and my first thought was "Channel surfing." I think this Deeder needs more sleep.

Yeah... I've had the same thoughts.

That's fine.  I realize I'm in the minority.  I'm really not competitive or into smack-talking.  I'd just like to see Kelly be successful.

Someone would probably have to drug me up with anxiety meds before I would try surfing. :-)  BUT, I think surfing in Hawaii would be AWESOME (or should I say gnarly) and you have to do it.  DO IT.

YES!!!  I tried it on my honeymoon!  As you probably already know, it is not as easy as it looks but I am a fan of trying new things with the hope of being surprised that you will be successful at it.  We booked a surf instruction session and it was with a group of other people.  I think I got up to a crouch once but the rest of the time I couldn't but it was totally worth the experience.  I think I was sore after so be prepared for that.  And, I will also mention that I have never been successful at water sking and have anxiety in large bodies of water, so that might have impacted my success rate.  I still say give it a try!

    This minus the drugs.  :)

Oh, yay!  Thanks for the feedback.  My biggest concern actually is how much paddling is required to get out far enough to catch a wave.  I'm afraid by the time I got there, I'd be too exhausted to be successful.

I have successfully water skiied though, so maybe that will help.  I hadn't even thought of that connection.

I don't remember having to go that far out and I don't remember the waves being that huge.  I think it was just the falling and getting knocked around in the waves is what made me sore.  But, it wasn't anything trip ending or where we lost a day of activity.  Do it!!!

And now I want to dig up the picture of me and DH surfing that we bought.  I think I know where it is too.  I'll try to remember to post!

  • We'll be heading to Ann Arbor this weekend for the game. We always go to at least one game a year and meet up with friends from Chicago, Texas, AA. I love going to games. So much excitement and I love the band. Not really that into football, but i love the atmosphere.

Now that we have Henry, I stick to the tailgating and then the women folk head to our friends house in AA with all the kids and watch the game on TV. Best part of that is we can keep drinking! 19 month old in the Big House doesn't fly anyway. Mike said he would switch off years with me. Sweet, but really not necessary. I didn't go there, he did.

And we will hit Ikea this weekend. I really see this as the main event!

  • <--- No idea what celebration on the grand is, but will have to look into it. Ben LOVES fireworks!

I've always wanted to try surfing, though I seriously lack coordination so it would likely be an epic fail.

Found out via an email newsletter that my job hired a second on call nurse to work with me...splitting the territory and rotating weekends with me.  ALL news to me, especially since I haven't worked a weekend ever.  Great way to find out my entire job is changing without so much as a heads up from my manager.  I have an email out to my union rep, I'm upset and pissed :(

Eesh. So sorry that this has happened. Hope you get some answers and things work out for the best for you.

That is so not cool.  I hope it works out somehow though.  I hate when decisions are made when maybe a little input is needed from the people in the field.

It's ridiculous, they have no idea how much this will impact me.  Especially since DH isn't working steady and my income pays the bills.  2 nurses means half the work, and I don't forsee them doubling my pay in exchange.

  • Freeburger, sorry to hear about the job changes and lack of communication.  That is not cool.  I hope it works out okay for you.

  • Thanks guys, I'm riding it out for now and will see just what happens before doing anything rash.  But in the meantime I'm checking other job postings.  I hate change :(

Sounds like a blast - have fun with both events. :-)

Freeburg - That really stinks. :-(  Doesn't sound like very good management, and I hope things get figured out in a way that won't impact you too much.

Well, you haven't been there that long either right?   Is there a chance that it may not impact you like you are thinking?  Can you talk to your boss about it and your concerns?

  • H will be picking up BIL this afternoon from the airport in GR.

I promise to keep my complaining to a minimum.  Angel

  • We are also not going to COTG...I think Noah would do fine with fireworks.  But I am not willing to keep him up that late yet.  Shoot, I am not willing to be up that late! ha!  Yes, I am tired today.

    Freeburger....Sad

Watching Friends makes me feel old as well!

Have not tried surfing.  My DH and BIL did when they lived in Cali....hmmm, something about sharks makes me stay out of the water. Stick out tongue
