Re: Randomly hump day
I finished week 1 of c25k. Holla.
H says he is going to run the 5k with me in November. Neither of us have ever run 3 consecutive miles before. Ever. In all our 61 combined years. Should be interesting.
Which race is it that you're thinking of running?
I ran the Ambulance Chase on campus last night, which is 2.2 miles and put on by the law school. It was pretty fun and I got a t-shirt and dinner. I can't believe how lame my section is, though. Out of 80-something students, I was one of only three who participated. By contrast, the other day section had 10-15 students or more participating.
Yeah, that is not enough breakfast. At least add in a yogurt (preferably Greek yogurt which has more protein).
A good "rule of thumb" that I like to follow is eating about 5 meals a day that are each ~300 calories. 1500 healthy calories should be low enough for you to lose weight with the working out you are doing, but also high enough to keep you out of "starvation mode"
The Turkey Trot at OVHS.
I am having a really hard time being motivated this week. Fortunately I'm current on all of my assignments, but I really haven't been making the best use of my time this week.
And I know it's Wednesday because I've hit the point in the week where it feel like it should be over by now, but it's only halfway.
That is good to know. I need to get better about packing my food earlier than 7:35 am (when I should be out the door by 7:30.)
Interesting. I might join you. Do you know anyone who has run that one before?
I used to have to pack my lunch the night before and for refrigerated items, I would arrange the things to take together at the front of the fridge. I hated doing it the night before, but in the mornings I was bound to run out of time.
Now, I'm embarrassed to say what I eat on a regularly basis. Overall it's fairly low-cal, but not so healthy. Basically I need things that are cheap, don't need refrigeration and are completely mindless. This means lots of cup noodles.
Yay!
I just found out the previous (
) owner of my company has cut everyone a check from the sale of the company. Bonus.
I don't know how much yet and I'm sure its not a lot, but holy generous! I'm sad he's not the owner anymore.
Ok, got the check. It was pretty generous.
What a nice guy!
We are having a reception/party for him tonight after work. It should be a good time, but sad!
WOW, very generous! Also..."you go girl!" on training for a race! I used to run 5ks and hated every minute of it. I would die if I ran a 25k.
My poor Noah is sick...again. Moms...did your kiddos get colds constantly while they were teething? I feel like they always coincide with teething, but maybe it is just that he is always teething these days!
I need sleep...desperately.
No. Actually I don't know many (any?) runners IRL.
Hahahah! No, I'm not running a 25k. OMG I would die too.
I'm using couch to 5k training...aka c25k. Haha.
AH! You still get a "you go girl!" from me for the 5k. I probably would die if I ran a mile these days. Have I mentioned how much I hate running? Maybe if someone was chasing me....
Running makes me happy.
And yes, D&M, get some PROTEIN in that breakfast! Now I'm hungry. 11am is appropriate for second breakfast, right?

I'm a bottomless pit today too! I had cereal for breakfast at 6:30, then a protein shake after my weight lifting workout at 9 and then a granola bar at 10:30 before class. And I'm still starving.
So yes, 11 is totally appropriate for second breakfast.
Hey ladies.
I wanna start running again... but I am worried it would mess with breastfeeding. Maybe I'll give it a try in a month or so. I told my dad I would run a 5k with him this summer, so I need to figure something out.
So, my "me time" last night turned into a disaster. Well for the H and J it did anyways. I guess J screamed the entire 2 hrs I was gone.
And refused to take a bottle. He quit crying the second I walked in the door. I am planning to pick up some different bottles today to see if he likes another brand better.
I feel kinda guilty that I enjoyed being away from him and he was so unhappy.
Oh no. That's tough. Don't feel guilty, though! You guys will get it figured out and next time will be smoother.
We've been delighted with our BabyTrend jogger from Target. Actually prefer it to the BOBs we've tried.

Mira, what a bummer. It'll get easier as your fellas figure it out. Don't let the guilt stop you from trying again (maybe sooner than next yoga class).
D&M what a nice old owner. I hope he has a great celebration.
Amachuta, our doctor told us that babies have an average of 12 colds in their first year. They can last for a week, and they can have more than one a month. Think of it as immune boosting for year 2.
Thanks for the info!!
I had a great experience with the Riverbank Run in May (miles 11-14 notwithstanding) and wish that I could do it again this year. It happens the weekend after winter finals, so I think studying for my last first year finals and the intensity of training for a 15.5 mile race would just be too much.
The lack of action on this board really isn't helping my efforts to not be productive today!
I don't know what it is, but I'm suffering from a huge motivation problem today. Fortunately, an assignment that's due tomorrow will enforce some motivation after class. Other than that I'm "caught up" with everything else (reading is done for Friday and one class is cancelled tomorrow). However, I'm taking advantage of the canceled class to spend tomorrow afternoon with my family, so that means I have a lot to get done, unless I want to spend all weekend reading and outlining.
You know me and we've met IRL, so I think that counts
I only ask because I'm becoming a bit of a race snob. I never thought that would happen, but after running huge, well organized races like Riverbank and Race for the Cure, I've discovered that the experience can be a lot more or less fun depending on that.
I'm sure this one will be on the smaller side, but small runs can still be great, like how the blueberry fest race in South Haven handed out containers of MI blueberries after the race.
Can I give you a bit of advice (from personal experience or lack of person experience)...don't let that deter you from going out by yourself. In fact, I would make it a point of doing it once a week if your schedule allows. Even if it is for an hour or two. Eventually baby and dad will get used to it. With Allison's colic and the stress that it caused, I tried to do a lot of bed time routine and stuff by myself. When I started volunteering atthe RMH again, Allison wasn't used to dad putting her to bed and Dad wasn't used to it either. It was pure torture for them both for several months. I really should have left those two alone more in the begining.
I hope it's small! I'd be too intimidated to do a large race for my first one.
