Mine isn't an AW.

ML - did I give you my email? I know the HR recruiter so it's any department.

Re: AW Thursday

  • I found my TI graphing calculators when I was cleaning out a closet yesterday looking for garage sale items.   Turns out, they are still worth some decent cash!

I listed them on Ebay.  :)

I am still rocking my TI-83 from high school. Used it in my math class last night. We have two because my mom was once at a garage sale and saw one for $5 and remembering just how much she spent on my HS calc, grabbed it. Still one of the best garage sale finds to date.

I ran my fastest 5k yet this weekend. Still majorly slow but I have shaved 11 minutes off my 5k time since May.

  • I'm hoping today is day #3 in a row with no sugar and my meals have been fabulous the last few days as well.  I'm not giving up sugar for a reason, I just so happened to realize that I haven't had any and now I wonder how long I can go.

On my way home last night, I didn't hit any red lights the entire drive (a whole 5-6 miles).  Exciting, huh?

  • DH and I are going to the Incubus concert tonight.  I'm excited!!
  • Yay for incubus, expensive calculators and shaving time off 5k's.

The board is super slow this morning.  I am sitting here in the waiting room at the hospital, I should be reading the book club book but I just cant get into it for some reason.  I have been stuck at 17% for 2 weeks.

I'm in need of a graphing calculator!  How much?

We are going to Game 1 tomorrow night!  The 4:05 start time really sucks but I'm excited the Rangers made it again!

BL - I demand that you come to book club even if you don't finish the book. That is all. Actually, it's not - I hope all is well with your momma today. :)

  • The board has been pretty slow all week.

When is Book Club, again?  The 8th?  Do we have a time yet?  I think my niece is spending the night with me on the 7th, and I'm pretty excited.  She's 3, and it's her parents' anniversary.  James may just get to watch her for a little while Saturday morning until my brother comes to pick her up :)

I'll still come and maybe I will finish it.  Does it pick up later in the book?  Thanks, the nurse this morning said they didnt think she would have to stay overnight so I am hopeful even though the nurse yesterday said she would.

  • I finished Unbroken yesterday and really loved it. It does read like a research paper/article sometimes. Because of that the language doesn't always flow and can be a little awkward at times. But I really loved all the facts and appreciated her research. And I thought the story was great. Speaking of, when is the book club date? I haven't made it to one yet :)

I've made it through my first week at my new second job, and while the job is great, I think the commute might be the death of me.

On Saturday my family is going to see The Wizard of Oz in Fort Worth, because one of my sister's close friends from high school is playing the scarecrow! I can't wait to see him all grown up and in a real professional role.

  • Dana - I already listed them online with starting bids of $45 for the TI 83 Plus and $25 for the TI 86.     If they don't sell then I will let you know!

Leslie & Bobbileigh - I read the book and loved it, but I'm still more excited about Titan.    I'm devising ways to sneak him out to my car and take him home.

Oh it's like calculator heaven at my house.  DH and I still have our graphing calculators from HS, plus we have about four BA II Plus calculators.  Nerd city at my house.

  • Deepthi - Now that I know about your connection at UTA, if there's ever a librarian position open there, I may be coming to you for a good word!

Bobbileigh - Thinking about you today, I hope everything goes well and the recovery goes smoothly.

Haha we have a couple of BA II's as well....but they are actually useful so I'm keeping them.  :)

I can't think of a time when I'm going to need to graph something again.

  • Wow a lot of calculator talk here. I need to find my IT btw. Thanks for reminding me.

BL- Hope your mom's surgery goes as planned. Saying a prayer for her. Keep us updated please.

I'm half way through the book and it is picking up. I hope to make the book club this time. I hate that I keep having to miss it.

It's actually UT Southwestern not UT Arlington. If you see something and apply I'll try my best to get your resume pulled out of the stacks.

Angie - Either an 11a start or 12p start is fine with me, whichever is easier for you girls.

Anna  - October 8th at my house.

BL - Yes, I thought so. I just loved it all around though, so maybe I am a bad person to ask?

Tiffany - I'm just hoping he isn't bad while you guys are there. He gets so excited about new people and forgets he is big. :)

Oh duh I missed that, lol. They actually do have a library supervisor position right now, but it's an old posting. I don't have any medical library experience, but I'll go ahead and put it on my list of applications to do, it's worth a shot.

I seriously love big dogs who think they are tiny, short of Titan biting me I cant imagine him being "bad" in my eyes.

Well, darn, I'm working that day, ironically in NW Fort Worth. But since the hourly rate at TCC is so good, I'm not going to turn down hours offered to me, lol.

  • I lost my graphing calculator right before the final exam of my last math class in college. :( I was doing practice problems on it outside the classroom, walked into class without it by accident, then rushed back out to get it. It was left unattended less than two minutes, but it had already been taken. The prof nicely had an extra calc to lend me, but it was a different model than the TI-85 I'd used since HS, so it added an extra nerve-wracking element to that test.

We're getting pre-approved for a mortgage tonight. I'm psyched, but wishing we were already looking at houses (that's next week).

Literally 5 minutes from my house - if you get a lunch break stop by for a bit and chat/eat.

Good to know. He's not a biter just a sitter on laps and a seeker of any kind of food he can hoover up.

  • Tonight, I'm going to an Aggie thing with Bill and we're getting to meet one of the former coaches--so excited!!!!  And I ordered my Maroon Out shirts last night.

I got everything ready for a week of school just in case I get picked and have to be gone the whole week.  Worse case scenario, I don't get picked or it doesn't go that long and I have everything ready for when I return.

A new era begins on Monday for my campus.

  • Update on my mom, everything went well but while the Dr was in there working on the bottom on the heart he noticed an enlarged artery near the top.  He took some additional pictures and it appears she has an aneurysm.  They are not sure how enlarged it is from the images they got it is either at the enlarged but must keep an eye on it stage or at the critical we need to do open heart surgery asap.

The dr who did this procedure isnt an expert in the other so he has put a call into the other specialist to come talk to us and see where he wants to go from here.

  • BL - Glad to know the procedure went smoothly.  Praying for a good report from the second specialist!  Will you get to talk to him today?

They paged him and from the sounds of it we dont get to do anything until he comes so it sounds like we are.

Yikes! I hope it's the first, not the second!
