My mom and dad started the process for one of the Wednesday's Child adoptees right before I graduated from college and my mom said she couldn't go through with it. Generally, if you're going to adopt some of the older children, you have to go through their whole case file, you have to know about every mark, inside and out. You learn everything that they went through. Pictures included. My mom said that she just couldn't stand to read that file.

Julie - I think it would be really difficult to read a childs file, but even more difficult to not help them after all they have been through! Kudos to you guys for looking into adoption.

My mom just couldn't stand knowing that a child would go through some of that. She was more afraid that she would not be a parent but just a BFF who bought everything and did anything to make her happy since she'd had such a crappy start in life. Even now, when I read about some of the stuff on the news (selling them for crack, forcing them into the sex trade, selling them for a trip to Disney--one woman did it recently), it's so heartbreaking. We will probably go for a younger child. However, if it's a family that they are trying to keep together, then we will consider it by all means.

I've been wondering where Kidd was too. He wasn't there on Friday of last week either, if I remember correctly.
Leslie, Can you talk him into going with you a couple times? Then once he sees it's okay, you can make a weekly commitment.
Julie, That is so great!!! I hope it's a smooth process for you. Are you going to adopt a baby, or a little bit older child? I think we all agree, you're going to have to keep us updated on the whole process!
I am sick today. I woke up this morning and just couldn't drag myself out of bed, so I emailed my manager and said I wasn't coming in. I laid back down, and didn't get out of bed until 12.30. I feel okay right now, just zero energy... Ugh, I hope this goes away soon. I don't want to use all my PTO days on being sick!

Dear Nesties,
Just wanted to say hi! Our trip to Chicago last week was a blast. IT was nice to be off work and just relax a bit. I then flew back Sunday night, did laundry took a nap and left for the airport less than 12 hours later. It is going to be a long week.

Yay! How exciting! My cousin and his wife were having trouble conceiving, and decided at the beginning of the year to adopt. They got all of their final stuff in earlier this week and are now available for mom's to look at them as adopters! They decided to try domestic for the first child, and then potentially look at international for additional kids.

I understand wanting to help out the homeless, but I've had to go to Presidio st a few times, as there is a telco location there that I had to work in. I heard many stories from the people that worked there on a day to day basis, and I can't blame your husband for being concerned. Maybe y'all can go a few times together and scope it out before making a final decision?

Leslie, I understand about the homeless too. I'm always wanting to help them out, but DH thinks that sometimes they are rich people acting like they poor. There was a guy by the DART train on Sunday outside of the state fair wanting food. I felt so.bad. DH and I didnt have any money or food on us, but if we did, I would have given him some.(I also would have carried my mace, just in case)
Dear Nesties-
I'm making my MILs famous spaghetti and meatballs for DH and his dad tonight. I've tweaked her recipe and made it my own, and DH said mine is better than his moms.(hmmm???) Also, we're still sitting on the floor in our living room until Friday. Oh well.
