Re: B&M Monday
Gray seems to be a popular name lately. I know 3 different people that have used it recently for middle and first names... 1 boy, 2 girls.
Bio
I like this, too. We didn't do it with Jack... I just like "Jack", and his middle name is after my closest childhood playmate. But Dorothy is my great grandmother's name, and Jane is my sister's middle name. Also, Jane is Mack's mom's middle name... but that's mostly a coincidence. I would not have named a child after her.
If we had a boy, he would have been John Huckabee McGowan. John is Mack's middle name, and Huckabee is a family name. But we would have called the kid "Huck", most definitely. So there's that.
Nicknames and middles names are difficult to go by, because you never know what to put on things. My name is Angela, but I go by Angie... so sometimes I put Angie on some paperwork, and sometimes Angela. It gets confusing sometimes, especially when I put one thing but think I put something else.
However, sometimes it's just necessary... for example, James is a Second (as in, James, II and not a junior), and wants to name our future some after himself, so he'd be James, III. It would be a pain to have two Jameses in the house, so we'll probably call him by a nickname, like Jay. (I'm not a fan of Trey, or his middle name, or Jimmy as a nickname for James, so Jay is about the only thing I can think of.)
My mom's first name Eva is after her grandmother, but was always called by her middle name, Janette. She now uses her maiden name as her middle name, although I think that she is legally still Eva Janette. I like middle names after someone also - my middle name is Janette

Leslie, Good luck the temp spike means something good! I'm still trying to figure out the temping thing, so I'm not really sure what it means.
About the name discussion - I like middle names that mean something. DH and I have decided on middle names already Keith (my dad) and Katherine (his grandma). I know I am going to come up with nicknames for my kids, but it will always be a variation of their first name, I'm not a fan of going by middle names. Out of the 8 people on my team 4 go by their middle names. So when I get official stuff for them (expense reports, reviews, etc) I always get turned around, b/c it is just first and last name. Especially when the two brothers on my team have the same last name and both go by their middle names. Who is who?!?

Also, re: names - if we have a son his middle name will be Anthony as it is DH's dad's middle and my grandad's first name. Our daughter wouldn't have a family name but that's because both of our mother's middle names are Lynn and they told us to let that name die. Haha.
Humorously, my BIL would like to name his future son after both my DH and their dad, so his name would be Bruce Wayne. He thinks this is awesome.
Speaking of my BIL, the ex-fiance of my cousin who is dating BIL made his engagement FB official last night. Commence freak out on cousin's part. It is implied that she will now put the heat on BIL for the "next step." This scares me to death because I feel like her methodology might involve something I would like to have but haven't been able to get and I am not entirely sure I wouldn't go over the edge at that point.
This.
I heard about the divorce, and wrote a hasty FB status daring someone to come at me with another "sanctity of marriage" argument. Buuuut, then I took it down, because I don't want to stoke those fires professionally.
Does anyone watch Toddlers & Tiaras? There is not one Jennifer, Michelle, or Emily among them. Not even a Katelyn or a Brittany. It's: Baylee, Kylie, Kayleigh, Paisley, Brylee--I sit there wondering what tricked up name I'll hear next.
The thought of all the money, publicity and plastic surgery spent on the Kim K wedding makes me physically ill.

Middle names: I agree they should have significance. SD's middle name is DH's mom's middle name. This baby will have my mom's middle name. If it was a boy he would have been named after my step dad, DH's dad and my dad.
My DH and my sister both go by their middle names. They both HATE the hassle. DH has sworn we will only call our child by their first name. He said it used to be such a pain on the first day of school when the teacher called roll and he had to go through the whole, "Well my name is A, but I go by B" conversation.
DH also has the same first name as his grandpa. We get lots of AARP and reverse mortgage mail at our house!
I don't have a problem with family names, but after working in the mortgage industry I can see the negatives. If your namesake has credit problems and you share more than just a name (zip code, city, state), get ready to play credit clean up before you buy a house!!!
I heard on the radio that each day of their marriage equals out to $168,000 spent on the wedding. Gross.
Deepthi - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I have a friend who was diagnosed with cervical cancer a couple weeks ago (she's 21) and they managed to get it all out this week and she'll only have to go in for check ups every six months or so. But she decided to drop this bomb on me during casual conversation on Saturday. Way to give me a heart attack right there in the middle of the Halloween party!
Leslie - I hope you get good news soon, and I really hope your cousin doesn't go through with it. It might send ME over the edge and I don't even know the person!
Re: names - Carson was DH's dad's middle name, and we love that for a boy or a girl. Zoe was his grandmother's name, and I love that one too. Andrew is my dad's name ad DH's best man's name. I don't think I'd use it for a boy, but I love Drew for a girl.
Finally, if y'all have any vibes, prayers, good juju etc. to spare, my dear friend/matron of honor has her first appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist today after three years of TTC. I really hope they can figure out what's going on and that she'll have a precious little one in her arms soon!
I picked Mel's middle name because I wanted it to start with J so she'd have the same initials as her dad. I got it off a soap opera I was watching at the time.
ETA: Deepthi, Anna T&P's your way!

I've FINALLY gotten my computer up and running from this morning "blue screen of death" incident.
This naming discussion is interesting. DH goes by his middle name... his first name is a "family" name and its kind of awful. If we ever have kids, that tradition will have to die. DH agrees.
Fighting off the urge to make a really b!tchy response to another thread.
ETA: Couldn't do it. Just went with slightly b!tchy. Sorry, today's not been my day.
Boy. Girl. It doesn't matter. The middle name will be Finn after the neurosurgeon who did my mom's surgery. While it didn't work out right for her, he gave us hope and I believe that, someday, the procedure will save lives.
Charles Finn (boy) after my dad and the doctor
Laura Finn (girl). I used to like Olivia but now there are lots of them out there.
I have nightmares out there about these alternate spellings that one day, that Starbuck's cup with "Jewly" on it will become a reality.
You're just too sweet

TN is so slow today...taking forever to load anything.
Apparently I missed the memo about half hour lunches actually being an hour.
Kim K. is an idiot. It's funny because her and Kris were on Leno or Letterman or someone's show last week trying to squash all of these rumors. Everyone says he's a feminine hygiene product but I get a kick out of the crap he calls her out on and she is just plain rude to him. The "New York" show ought to be interesting.
I have so much work to do. I have been a lil MIA lately because I really want to get everything done at work before January (our projected move date to PA) that I can.
Re middle names: I like the whole family name thing. I wasn't named after anyone, but my sister was and it makes me feel a little less special (as childish as that is, it's true!)
We will do it for a boy, but probably not for a girl. I don't like any of the names in our family for a girl. Just to give yall an idea...we have : Frankie - DH's mom; MaraLana - my nana; Phyllis - my grandma; and Barbara - DH's mimi. None of those go very well with Ava (my choice for a girl name)
Hehe. Yeah, Ava Frankie..not so much. I do love that you said DH's mimi...too cute!!!!
I don't see the big deal about it. We sometimes move conversations out of here. I also don't think the response was necessarily mean-spirited. Meh.
I know a lot of you girls like to take little weekend trips and I can definitely recommend Little Rock. They are actually having fall right now. Changing colors, frost, the whole she-bang. They having a thriving little downtown area and, if you like him, there's also the new Clinton Library.
Yeah, but at the same time... when there's a big active thread, I make sure and check it before posting a new one (like in this case), just to make sure we're not doubling the info. Oh well.

I like those names because Keith is my dad's middle name and Kathrine (without the "e" or "a" in the middle) is my middle name! :-)
Leslie- That's funny! I really want to use Lynn as a middle name because it is my mom's middle name :-)
Brianna- I can't remember what it was about exactly, but you were in my dream last night. I think you were trying to sell some Scentsy stuff.
