Re: OL Tuesday

  • Dear Nesties-

Your probably right. If DH came home and saw all of our Christmas stuff up, he might get stressed out, and I dont want to be tired of it by Thanksgiving. Thanks ladies! :)

  • Tiffany did you know there is an official term for this? It's called "The Christmas Creep."

Chelsea - I was looking at your blog and got really excited because the guy in the pictures has a T-patch! My great-grandfather was in the 36th Infantry in WWII and is VERY proud of his T-patch status.

  • Dear Leslie,

Thanks for sharing thats about how mine looks and it just tells me the data is too inconclusive :(.  How did you get it to where you can log the various symptoms below the chart.  I would like to log headaches and some other things but wasnt sure how.  Matt keeps turning the heat on one night and the AC on the other and I think that is causing my body temp to change.

    Chelsea,

That is so awesome and I too love the change in your posture from the first to the second.  Keep it up!

    Dear Nesties-

Excuse the word vomit but I'll try to make this short.  I'm thinking about going back to school; it seems like the popular thing to do on the board so why not?!  I kid, I kid.  You've been an inspiration, honestly Yes

Jaymi - If you decide to go to grad school PLEASE look into UTA. They are the process of applying for Tier One designation and are in BAD need of more people to complete graduate degrees to make this happen. Due to this need the coffers are plentiful and open in many of the majors they need degrees sought in. Many of the programs are offering fellowships, which means not only free school but also money to live on that does not have to be paid back. This might be your middle ground. Check it out! - Leslie

Thanks for passing that on, I will definitely look into it.  If I go to grad school, that's where I will go.  My only other option is Houston- no thanks.

  • imageangieandjames:

Chelsea - that is FANTASTIC!!!!  Such a difference girl, way to go!  I also love the difference in the way you're carrying/projecting yourself - you go from kind of sad & blah (Do I haaaave to??)  to pumped & proud (Heck yes, I just did!!), and I love that!

I was going to say something similar...you look a LOT happier, Chelsea.  I'm glad you are pushing on for another month and didn't give up!

That IS cool! He was super cautious about making sure all his patches and badges and pins were on straight. He's a goofy guy, always making jokes... but when it came to the uniform being presented properly, he was VERY intense. It was a real honor to work with them... and they drove from and back to Corpus all in one day for the shoot!

You log them in under specific symptoms where you log in your other info. You have to be on the full site to do it, not mobile. To get them to show up under your chart you have to have VIP. I like the VIP setting because you can create custom things like "leg cramp" or something so you can keep track of non-cycle related things too.

I may just bite the bullet and get the VIP.

  • Jaymi - If you are doing SW I would say go for the master's! It will open a lot more doors. One of my friends is a SW in Houston. She got her master's and told me she's set. Beside renewels she shouldn't have to formally go back to school.

I know what you mean about delaying TTC time. Since I'm back and if I stick with it, it throws us over 3 years from now. It make us both sad and hope we can figure it out some way. I think I had to get over the inital irritation of needing to go back to school.

    Chelsea,

Great work! You can definitely see a change. Man you are making me want to do boot camp but I don't have the time for it Sad

    Tiffany,

I heard your "voice" in my head this morning when I could have pulled out my little desk tree. It will be put back until the Monday after Thanksgiving.

I have always said I didn't have time for it. Two kids, working 75+ hour weeks. I actually bought a gym membership last year and never went. NEVER. Not once. But when I decided I could give up an hour day, I was amazed at how little I missed it. Sure, I'm starting work a half hour later than normal, but because I'm awake and energized, I'm actually getting more done than I used to. It's been 100% worth it, and I will never again say that I don't have time to work out.

You just missed the promo for super-cheap VIP but they will do it again in 60-90 days. I would hold out if you can. Although...are you still in your first 30 days? They should have given you VIP for the first month...then they will offer you a hefty discount on the year of VIP.

I wake up at 4:15 to get to work, get home at 6, eat and I could go in the afternoon, but I literally study until 11;45 at night. I need to find time in there to work out I just need to see when. I don't think there is a 3 am boot camp and if there is my making it might be a miracle. I have a gym membership I was going to cancel, but you've made me reconsider that.

  • Deepthi, I certainly wasn't trying to be rotten or say you were making excuses. There are times in the past when I wasn't necessarily busier than I am now, but the schedule just would have made something like this impossible. Your schedule definitely sounds pretty intense. I just wanted to encourage you that there will come a time when you can find something that works for you! :)

  • Confession time and you all can hate on me if you want:

The girl I am closest with on the Getting Pregnant board got her positive test on Saturday after seven months of trying. I guess since we have been talking since we were both at three months trying she has been my secret TTC buddy. Surprise (I know, I know!!!)

I am likely going to put a shout out to her in my signature because I am so excited for her I can barely stand it.

ETA: Edited out the TTC lingo for Stephie. :)

  • Angie-  That's one of the big things to ponder.  One of the battles I am currently in is that employers want you to have experience but yet I can't get a job to get that experience...it just goes in a circle and frustrates me.  You can absolutely get somewhere with a Bachelor's and I could get by with it but I think a Master's would be better down the road/over time but I could be wrong...I've only been researching this since last night.

    I LOL'd at you hearing Tiffany's voice.

So are you going to school and working?  Will you do both until you are done with school?  I hear you about the irritation but if I would have stuck with it and not been so scared, I wouldn't be where I'm at so I can kick myself in the butt for that move.  I also feel a bit selfish about going back, other than delaying TTC [which we are so not prepared for], but DH is older than I am and he got a late start to life himself so it's just something you have to deal with.

  • Dear Jaymi, good for you!  My major was in SW at UTA.  But then I had a terrible experience with a counselor (did you ever hear that story?), then Mel came along then......

I do think you should go for your Master's though.  Even if you do it later.  Just so many more options.

Dear Mandaroo, I am assuming you meant "dairy."  :)

Dear Leslie, that is the cutest costume ever.

Dear Tiffany, I want to see yours!

We turned off the light and didn't even hand out any candy.  Mel went Trick or Treating with 4 of her friends and had a ball.  I told her it was her last year.

Yea, I'm currently working 40 hours with a 3 hour commute everyday and going to school. It's been killer, but since "the economy" happened my poor master's degrees aren't doing all they promised to do. I was absolutely terrified to go back to school especially for a degree so far from my current ones, but now that it's done I'm glad I did. I know I'm making the best decision for myself and the future family we will have. We are concerned about having kids later too, but we always said we were going to adopt and I know we will have the big family we want one way or another. I would totally encourage you to do it! I had a ton of issues with UTA and I advise calling a lot and staying on top of them. Once you start you won't regret it.

  • Deepthi - Your comment about my "voice" made me laugh out loud!!  See?  Now you'll anticipate putting up that tree all month, and have more appreciation for it when you do. :)

Re: UTA Masters - Um, all I can say is educate yourself in the credits you need.   Make sure your GMAP accurately reflects any transfer or waived credits, and counsel yourself from it.

When it comes to administration.. WORST. SCHOOL.EVER.

  • Dear DH-

Happy 3rd anniversary.  Today would probably be more celebratory if I didn't want to punch you in the teeth...since late Saturday night.

    Shape up.

  • Stephie,

Ugh thanks. That's what I get for trying to hurry up with posting.  I corrected it.

    Chelsea,

You look fantastic! Keep it up!

    Sara,

    Uh oh! Happy Anniversary anyway!

No, not really, just confused and disheartened.  Like basically there was no way I could fulfill my work study credits being married, working full-time and having a child.  But then again, she was probably right.  She could have delivered the news a little more tactfully however.

    Sara, ruh roh!

There were several counselors at our high school who had no business being in those positions.  One counselor told me that I wasn't smart enough to take the SAT even though I was #7 in my class.  Another one accused me of not telling her that I'd already taken a class for credit when she put me in that class again.

Our counselors here need a few lessons too.

  • Chelsea- You look great!! I am just so excited to start bootcamp next week! :-)

    Leslie- I love the costume!

DH called AT&T last night and they tried to figure out what was wrong with my phone.  They couldn't figure it out, so they are replacing it.  Yay!  But it'll take like 6 days to get here, so I have to deal with the crappy one in the meantime :-(

I went to high school with probably less than 200 students.  My sister was 2 grades ahead of me, and our counselor - who had know us/the family pretty much forever - couldn't even remember which was which.  Like, not just a name mixup here and there, but have no clue which person was in which grade and had taken which class.  It was a good thing we were capable of advising ourselves!

LOL.  That happened to one of my students here.  He went to visit his counselor (an airhead) and she went to pull his schedule up then said, "You aren't registered for any classes."  He got up, looked over her shoulder and said, "That's because I'm not Billy Ted."  (I changed the name).
