Re: OL Tuesday
Okay, it's on my computer at home. I will post it this afternoon.
Anna - As believers of the Gothard doctrine absolutely any prevention of pregnancy other than abstinance during the post-partum period/during menstruation is considered a sin on par with murder. As is the "spilling of seed" done by men by themselves to get through any kind of "need" caused by abstinance.
Basically it boils down to the fact that if you aren't immediately post-partum or menstruating and your husband says it's time, it's time, fertile window be damned. NFP is not allowed at all. Way back when the Duggars first came out I did a lot of research into Gothard out of curiosity.
Sara - Thank you! It's not a done deal yet as I still have to finish under-grad, apply and get accepted to the program but it's something I know I can make happen if I put my mind to it.
I am assuming you watched a video and that it wasn't actually a live birth, right? LOL!
Either way, I watched "The Miracle of Life" in both high school health class and college Biology 2. I thought this was standard practice...is it not? Did I just have TMI teachers at both levels?
Dear Nesties -
I've been a bit MIA the past few days with this whole house thing. We removed our offer on the house we put a bid on. It'd been sitting on the market for 3 months with no action and then magically the same day we put in a bid so does someone else? Even though we figured we were being played we upped our offer to like $1,100 over asking price....then they come back and say the other offer is a cash offer so we have to offer more....i'm not going to play that game...it was a nice house. But i'm not getting scammed out of an extra $10k because the bank lost money on it. They can screw someone else....
Dear Dana (and any other pregnant/TTC Nesties), watch all the childbirth vids you want--nothing can prepare you!
Dear Book Club, I had such a nice time having everyone over Saturday. Thanks for coming! Michelle, it was so nice to "meet" you officially--even though it felt like I already had!
Dear OMH's, I am swamped. Congrats and T&P's to everyone that needs them!

Just do it!
Dana- I'm with you there no have no desire to watch a live birth video!
There was an article yesterday on yahoo showing all the people who had gotten twilight tattoos. Some of them were a little much!

Natural Cycle (8/7/13)- BFP! Beta #1 (9/10/13): 509 Progesterone: 18.64 Beta #2 (9/12/13): 1118
Oh, I'm sorry about all that. I'm so curious to know what, exactly was going on and who was pulling the strings.
Also, I want to someday be able to put down a cash offer on a house. Yeah ... probably not going to happen anytime soon (if ever).
Ashlee - Sorry to hear this, we lost four houses we put offers on due to "cash offers by investors"...even a few we offered over asking price on. It was pretty frustrating.
Hang in there, we were so beaten down by the house buying process but now have a great home we love in an awesome neighborhood.
The house you are meant to buy will present itself and it will be yours. Good luck!
Leslie -
I read the books after the first movie came out because a co-worker kept talking about them. They weren't great, but they were entertaining enough. I went to one midnight showing (I think for New Moon) and will probably skip that this go round and just check it out whenever we can.
Bio Good Times
Sorry yes it was a video. I don't want to know what is going to go on down there. I don't want anyone down there either except the dr and nurses. A video camera? HECK NO! And one of the videos showed the mom "helping" pull like Kourtney K and there is NO way I'm doing that. I will be over joyed and happy to hold my little girl, after you clean her up. Sorry I have a weak stomach and just can't do it. I'll let the doctors do their thing and once she is cleaned up a little and wrapped in a blanket I won't ever let her go but for those first few minutes you can have her.
And we watched it in high school but I was honestly sick the day they showed it and have avoided it every other time. I have no desire to ever see what it looks like. I thought DH was going to pass out in class.
Ok - I had to comment. I know that you THINK this is how you will feel, but it will be completely different on the day-of. They will set the baby on your chest while they are wiping her off, and it is the most amazing thing in the world. Trust me, that's not a moment you want to give up because you think you don't want it. Sure, the pink, clean, pretty smelling baby is a great thing... but that first moment is something you will never forget.

i honestly was killing time looking at yahoo and came across this: http://twilightsagatattoos.blogspot.com/
kinda scary actually....lol
as for the house - thanks ladies
i know we'll find the right one. It just sucks when you think you found it only to have it ripped from under you
Haha!! That's so funny to me! I certainly don't think you HAVE to see it to be able to give birth... I mean, it's a pretty natural thing.
But I'm one of those people who likes to know what's coming. I actually had a mirror placed at the foot of the bed for both my deliveries, so I could watch. And I helped. And I signed waivers that allowed medical students to observe the deliveries... one of which was a guy I had classes with in college. I just think the whole process is really cool.
I guess I am a weirdo regarding birth.
It's a natural process that is also pretty much a biological miracle to have happen at all. I am not worried in the slightest about it and think it is extremely interesting that a body is capable on it's own of doing everything that is required for birth. I will be so happy to see that little bundle that they can lay my future child on my chest blood, guts and all.
ETA: Okay, thanks mommas for posting. Not a weirdo.
I remember sitting up to see Melodie right after she was born--but she was all blue and my first thought was, I don't want to see her like that. Since she was being worked on after delivery, I didn't get to see her until she was all bundled up (and then only for a second). Something definitely gets lost in translation when that happens and it sticks with you.
Listen to Brianna--if you are lucky enough to get that first moment (which I wasn't), trust me, you want to take it.
ETA: But yeah the delivery part--I was in no way interested in seeing that either!

Just do it!
Dear Laundry,
Please wash, dry, fold and pack yourself. I could use that time to get a mani/pedi tonight instead and go to the playoff game.
Dear Bill,
Thanks for being willing to come home and do some of the laundry so that I can go support a couple of my students.
LOL! This is girl talk!
Bio
I am a girl and this talk is not for me. Haha.
Not really, I agree with the "it's just natural" discussion, however the thought of it happening to me is what makes me feel faint...and I'm not exaggerating. At all.
I made a clicky poll about childbirth. You know you are going to look, so trust me when I say it's realitively TMI-free. If people start discussing, it might not be that way, though...
Dear Nesties, yesterday I had my follow up with my OB/GYN and she diagnosed me with PCOS (Poly-cystic Ovary Syndrome). It sucks but I'm glad to finally have some answers. She prescribed me some medicine to regulate the amount of insulin my body produces so hopefully that will help with my infertility issues.
-Me
Dear Chelsea, sending good vibes your way! That's exciting. Yall will do great!
Dear Ashlee, have you and your husband considered building a house? DH and I had our house built in Dec. 2008 and it was a fairly easy process. I'm sorry that you're having to deal with all that.
Dear Leslie, I don't read the books as I find they ruin the movies for me.
That being said...I'm SOOOOOO excited for the new movie. I already have my midnight ticket.
Dear Duggars, seriously?
Dear Nesties,
So excited to get to know you all more!
Dear new guys at our 18-30 church group,
so blessed you have things in common with my husband, and that you can all grow together.
dear new in laws,
enjoy your family ski trips for both thanksgiving and christmas, disguised as 'business trips' to us.. except for your daughter posting on fb. you made it super simple for us to figure out who to see, on both holidays! it's a blessing, really.
What shadesters. Sorry you have to deal with that!
Lacy - yuck about the PCOS but yay about having a treatment plan. I hope this and the togetherness for you and DH leads to a BFP! Soon!
Are you hypoglycemic? Or do they feel excess insulin causes the problems? Prayers your way!
I'm diabetic, and take insulin via pump, .. just wondering
Leslie - Yeah, I know, I've done some reading about their beliefs too, I just think it wouldn't be a bad idea at this point, given her age and history.
Lacy - One of my friends was diagnosed with PCOS almost a year ago, then did seven (unsuccessful) cycles of Clomid as a result of that diagnosis. Last week she saw an RE for the first time, and he told her that PCOS is often misdiagnosed by OB-GYNs. She doesn't have any of the typical symptoms of PCOS, so I was always suspicious of that. I'm not at all trying to say that it's a misdiagnosis for you, I just hope you don't have to waste as many cycles as she did! ETA: I hope the insulin medication is enough to work!
I'm glad you finally have some answers!
Yes, we have thought about it. and we almost did! But realistically the only place we could afford to build at would by like in Anna texas. Which is fine with us, we've lived there before. But our family didn't like the idea of it. His grandmother was so against it she said she'd give us $2,500 to put towards a different house if we agreed NOT to move out there.

Lacy - Hope you are able to figure it out!
You would think with all the advancements we have in Medicine we would have found a way by now to solve these IF problems.
DH and I were talking and I think we may TTC starting next year. No definite plans, but it's getting close! One of my seconds cousin's announced she was pregnant yesterday... They got married in Sept. There is a honeymoon baby!

I'm not really sure. They say excess insulin causes theses problems, I think. I haven't really done my homework on this yet. The medicine she prescribed me is Metformin (Brand Name is Glucophage). It's for "non-insulin-dependent diabetes." My sister's ex b/f has that pump. He loves it.
Anna - Your poor friend. I hope she gets somewhere with this RE! I really hope that is not the case with me. I have all of the symptoms except that I'm not really overweight. I have been steadily gaining weight though.
Sara - that really stinks. Hopefully your doctor will get you fixed up too!
Thank you everyone for your T&Ps!!
Are you considering consulting an RE? If so, let me know I have one who has been trusted by many of my friends. All of whom are now parents.
I will do that tonight for sure!
I am thinking about it. I am just conflicted with whether I want to start with all that here in TX. We will be moving in Jan.-Feb. so if it is going to be a lengthy process I am thinking about waiting and finding one in PA. Can't hurt to talk to one here for now though and see what my options are. I'd love their info! Thanks!
