Re: Chilly Wednesday Randoms
Jim's looking for a cordless drill for his dad, so I've been keeping an eye on the ads.
My orange tree is starting to blossom again. I'm sitting 2 feet away, and it smells terrific.
This is me being jealous. I've been wanting a orange or lemon tree but I'm not sure it would survive in my house.
Have you looked at the Lowes ad. They have a 3pc set for $69 and a Dewalt for $99
Thanks Deeder, those are on my radar.
My orange tree needs nothing but a sunny spot and water. Do you have a window that faces south?
Sorry about the disappointing appraisal. We had an issue with the percentage complete of our development (for condos they wanted 50% completion and we were at 49%) in order to underwrite. We complained and took it all the way up the chain with no luck. Our appraised value was sufficient. Also, in this market it can be really hard to find close comps.
If you can't get it appealed, you might check out the SmartMove mortgage at LMCU (that's what we just used to refi). You have no closing costs and no appraisal. You can choose any term up to 15 years. The two main disadvantages are that the rate is 4.5%, which is a bit higher than a traditional 15 yr but not so bad because there are no closing costs; and you can't escrow (which might be an advantage depending on who you ask).
Sadly we don't. We get mostly morning light.
I'm trying to decide with going to Target on Blk friday is worth a $30 GC. The coffee pot I want isn't on sale but is being offered with a GC.
I think I'm adding an orange tree to my Christmas list after this. That sounds heavenly.
Yay and also boo. Good luck on your finals though, you'll do great!
That is such a perfect description of how I felt last night upon printing my paper. I had this awesome "Yay!" feeling and then there was the "wah wah wah" sound as I realized the implications...
Thanks for the luck. Finals don't actually start for another 3 weeks but I already feel behind the 8 ball in preparing, the actual exams span 2 weeks. This thing is such a marathon. I'll be the happiest girl alive (along my fellow 1Ls I suspect) on Dec. 19 at about 1p.m.
Black Friday ads are out? I need to start perusing. My parents asked for a new camera for Christmas and I'd like to find a good deal. We also need a new TV for our bedroom. Hopefully the deals will also be available online. Because, where I'll be, there's pretty much just a Walmart. And I refuse to enter Walmart on Black Friday. Refuse.
Thanks for the LMCU tip, Diana. We had found a lower rate at Bank of Holland and they also don't have closing costs. But that pesky appraisal.... Anyway, congrats on finishing your last writing assignment! And good luck on the finals prep.
Speaking of plants, I've mentioned that our office is moving and my space will be downgraded considerably. I will no longer have room for a plant that I currently have. But I don't think I can really have it at my house either because Jinx and plants don't mix well. But I'm weirdly attached to the plant because it's from my grandpa's funeral. Although it's not at all healthy right now because me and plants also don't mix very well. I'm very perplexed about what do with this plant. I may haul it up north and give it to my mom.
There are some "leaked" ads out. I looked through a bunch on - I thought GRKids - but when I went to find the link for you, I couldn't find it. Best Buy's ad is out, that might be one to look for if you're looking for a camera deal.
I have family-related plants too, Kasa. I don't think it's weird that you're attached (but maybe I'm not the best ruler of weirdness for that topic
). Will your new office have a common space that might benefit from a plant? Conference room? Reception area? When you do remove your plant from your current building, be sure to protect it from the cold. For a walk from the office to your car, putting the plant in a plastic bag (garbage bag if it's a big plant) should do it.
Re: family plants, we just got rid of a plant from BIL's memorial. It sucked but it was dead.
I didn't shave my legs this morning but still wore a skirt. My legs are prickly. Ew.
Okay, I'm glad it's not just me.
There's no way I'd be allowed to display my unhealthy looking plant in a common area at our new space. Mostly likely not if it were healthy either.
Good Morning All!
There's been a lot to comment on here - I know I won't get it all. I do hope that husbands with work problems get those sorted out for their own (and their wives') sanity. Congrats on finishing a class DP! The housing market is nothing but frustrating it seems, unless you're a first time buyer. It must be fun to actually be invited to a spouse's holiday party. :-) No black Friday plans yet, but we are thinking of getting my parents a new computer as a Xmas gift + thanks for watching the dogs/house/cats for 3 weeks gift.
That's all I got. Work + life has been busy and I'm so looking forward to the short week coming up.
I'm trying a new recipe tonight. Pork chops in the crock pot covered in applesauce. Our friends gave us 2 quarts of applesauce that they made and I'm trying to be creative with using it.
People Magazine announced their sexy man of the year for 2011. Bradley Cooper.
Yay or Nah?
Warm homemade applesauce on vanilla ice cream is so good. I love applesauce, though.
I've been on the ellipitical and listening to This American Life at the same time this week. Good for my body and my brain.
Missy, Jim's doing the same thing. Because everyone else is taking up their vacation days, it's hard to sell sponsorships at the end of the year. There's literally no one working who he can meet with.
I'm looking forward to more time with him. Good for you for getting some time too.
Yay.
Sweet, thanks! B met the appraiser; I was at work. I did ask him afterwards, "Zoey didn't bite him, did she?". She can be tempermental, and I didn't want that to hurt us! (He said she behaved very well, though.)
I've also been enjoying some This American Life's whilst working these past couple weeks. Always a good listen.
