Re: What are some good series to lock yourself up with?

  • Entourage, Friday Night Lights, 24, NYPD Blue, Happy Days

Sopranos and The Wire are more serious shows, but I loved them so much. I'm not much help.

  • OP, it sounds like we have similar taste (Deadwood, Sopranos). I recommend:

Sons of Anarchy (just started this one, but I love it.)

    Six Feet Under

    Friday Night Lights

    Boardwalk Empire

The Wire (if you haven't seen it)

Treme (takes awhile to get into, but good)

    Da Ali G Show (hilarious)

    Curb Your Enthusiasm

    Mad Men

In Treatment (it's hit and miss, but when it's good it's good)

    ETA: I second Damages.

I don't like supernatural stuff for the same reason as you, but I loved Lost (well at least the first three season then it got a little too weird).

  • Ditto 24.  Loved that show!!!
The original Beverly Hills 90210 was always one of my personal faves, too.  I can watch those (especially the high school episodes from the very beginning) over and over again.  Even the original Melrose Place seasons.

I will fully admit that for laugh therapy Beavis and Butthead and In Living Color never get old.  :)  That 70s Show and Married With Children are a couple other favorites.

There are some good (and not so good lol) recs here

Judging by the fact that you guys want to watch it and spend some quality time together, I'm going to leave out the sort of depressing fare.  So while The Wire is "one of the best shows ever in the history of the modern age" it is depressing and bleak as hell. Breaking Bad is kind of bleak too, but I'd still put it on the list.  lol  I've also chosen shows that both men and women report liking

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.

    Anyway, I vote for:

    Breaking Bad
    Breaking Bad
    Breaking Bad
    and.... Breaking Bad.

I think it's one that both men and women would like, definitely.

ETA The next one I plan to start and get caught up on once the weather gets bad is Sons of Anarchy.  I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Sons if probably one of the best shows on tv right now.

  • We love FX shows - Rescue Me (ended in september) Justified, and Sons of Anarchy.  We also watched Dallas from the beginning to the end too.  It was great seeing the cliffhangers, and the terrible 80's fashion.
