Re: QOTD Tuesday (thanksgiving foods you can do without)

  • I too can do without the super sweet, sweet potatoe casserole. We are having sweet potatoe gnocchi instead!
  • I hate sweet potatoes. They make me want to gag. I try them every year hoping my tastes will change, but no such luck...

  • I am one of the pumpkin pie haters. I can do without green bean casserole. I never ate it growing up, but it's one of DH's favorites. I have been making it w/ frozen greenbeans, which are way better than canned & this year I am trying fresh. I also use a homemade "cream of" soup substitute. My great-grandmother was well known in our family for her sweet potato casserole, but no matter how many times I try it, I just can't eat it.
  • Turkey....Huh?

As a side note, I called Founding Farmers about their vegetarian options for Thanksgiving, and their only option is a vegan chicken patty, which perplexed me.  They're known for being organic (and a vegan chicken patty really doesn't strike me as such), also, if you're a vegetarian, you probably don't want to eat meat - let alone fake meat. Disappointing - I've been wanting to try them, because I've heard only good things. I guess it well have to be at another time! I digress...
